Rangers Dor Turgemen deal in doubt over Middle East conflict
Turgeman has been on the radar at Ibrox and some reports even suggested a deal to bring him from Maccabi Tel Aviv could be close. Russell Martin was believed to have made the 21-year-old a top target after taking the job and he is also well known to 49ers Enterprises having been on Leeds' radar previously. A new striker is high on the agenda at Ibrox with last season's top scorer Cyriel Dessers looking to be on the way out to AEK Athens. Talks had been opened over Turgeman but may now be grinding to a halt, because of the rising tensions between Israel and Iran. Read more: Sport 5 report that Maccabi are now thinking it may be unwise to sell on key players as they will find it tough to attract replacements from overseas. The report suggests the striker "certainly" won't be sold prior to the Champions League qualifiers against Cypriots Pafos next month. And they may also decide to significantly up the asking price for any of their players who are attracting interest, to make selling up more palatable. Rangers may need to move on to alternative targets with Danilo and Hamza Igamane the only striking options left if Dessers is sold.

Dor Turgeman to Rangers on brink of collapse as escalating Israel-Iran conflict sees Maccabi rip up transfer rules
The striker's club have reportedly changed their recruitment strategy due to the impact of the Middle East conflict A deal for top Rangers transfer target Dor Turgeman could be taken off the table by Maccabi Tel Aviv amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Record Sport first revealed the Maccabi Tel Aviv man is a target for the Light Blues as Russell Martin looks to strengthen ahead of a new era at Ibrox. Rangers ' new American owners 49ers Enterprises have been long-term admirers of the 21-year-old having previously attempted to bring the 21-year-old to Leeds United. And with Cyriel Dessers reportedly inching towards an exit for AEK this summer, a new striker is top of the agenda after Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers pledged a £20million investment into helping Martin and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell in the market. Record Sport revealed Rangers have been in talks over the deal for the £4m-rated Israeli international - but the picture appears to have changed amid Israel's rising conflict with Iran and the ongoing war in Gaza. Sport 5 report that the club understand that selling key players from Israel "would not be a smart move given the current situation" as the club know it will be difficult to attract players from overseas. It is claimed that Turgeman "certainly" will not be sold before the club's opening of the Champions League qualifiers next month as they prepare for the first leg against Cypriot side Pafos on July 22. It is also noted that Maccabi will "significantly raise the asking price" of players until they feel like they are in an "optimal" position to jump into the market again - with Turgeman among those who are unlikely to be shown the door. It leaves the new owners at the club with a decision to make over recruitment with their own crucial Champions League qualifier around the corner. Should last season's top scorer Dessers leave the club, new boss Martin could be left with Danilo and Hamza Igamane as his options up front as he attempts to navigate the tricky route to Europe's elite competition and a guaranteed £30m prize pot in the league phase with Panathinaikos up first. High priority Dor Turgeman is Rangers long term transfer desire as 49ers front and centre of signing necessity
We told you how the Israeli striker is an Ibrox target - months after Leeds were hot on his heels Dor Turgeman is a wanted man by Rangers as Russell Martin looks to strengthen ahead of a new era at Ibrox. Record Sport first revealed the Maccabi Tel Aviv man is a target for the Light Blues. And his name could be an indication of how Rangers' new owners 49ers Enterprises aim to share information between the Ibrox club and Leeds United. That's because the 21-year-old was heavily linked with the Yorkshire club - before we revealed the bombshell American takeover exclusive. We told you in February of the bid for ownership by a US-based consortium. However, talks had been going on long before that for such a complex deal. And it was in December last year that Leeds United were first linked with the Israeli. Daniel Farke's men were keen to bolster their squad as they chased their eventually successful bid for promotion to the Premier League. A deal wasn't concluded but back in March of this year it emerged Rangers had watched Turgeman in action for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League and games for Israel against Estonia and Norway in March. Coincidence? Surely not. News of the Rangers takeover by Leeds United 's owners had exploded by then and it's more likely they had started sharing information. The American group have their own player databases and that is likely to be exploited, with the Elland Road side likely aiming for a higher profile players now they have reached the Premier League promised land. But Turgeman, who stands at 6ft 1in tall and can play as a central striker or on the left wing, is under contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv until the summer of 2026, would fit the bill for Rangers He started his youth career at Ashdod before moving to Bloomfield Stadium in 2018. He spent a season on loan at Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam between 2021 and 2022 before breaking into the first-team picture at Maccabi. His manager Zarko Lazetic described him as a 'beast on the football pitch' and around the time of Leeds United's interest, didn't want to sell at any price, saying only a 'fairytale offer' would tempt him to part company. Rangers have been told that £4million won't be enough for the Israelis to sell and they will have to raise any offer.

Dor Turgeman told Rangers transfer is stepping stone from 'boring' league to better things by former Celtic flop
Eyal Berkovic has urged Turgeman to put up with the Scottish weather to try and win a move to the English Premier League One time Celtic flop Eyal Berkovic has urged Dor Turgeman to join Rangers despite playing in a "boring" league as it could win him a move to England Record Sport revealed the Ibrox side are locked in discussions over a £4million move for the Maccabi Tel Aviv striker and a deal is expected to be completed. Berkovic - who failed to live up to his £5.75million price tag after arriving at Parkhead in 1999 under John Barnes - reckons Turgeman should make the move to Glasgow, even only as a stepping stone to the English Premier League. "But the big difference between going to Scotland and say somewhere like FC Copenhagen is that Rangers and Celtic are on British TV every week. "So if you are a star for them, you are watched by English Premier League clubs every week. That's the difference between Scottish and Danish football. "The problem would be to adapt. I can give you examples of dozens of our players who moved to Europe, America and disappeared. "It's not easy for an Israeli player to play in zero degrees for six or seven months. It's not easy to live there." You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
