Military-civil liaison meeting in Jammu focuses on synergy post Op Sindoor
More than a month after the launch of Operation Sindoor, a two-day military civil liaison conference was held here to enhance synergy and deliberate on critical issues, including ongoing efforts to support the local population along the border areas, the Indian Army on Saturday said. The conference, held on June 12 and 13 at Satwari cantonment, was among others attended by General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division, Maj Gen Mukesh Bhanwala, and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, said a defence spokesman. Operation Sindoor saw close coordination and integration between Tiger Division, para military forces and civil administration to counter the nefarious design of the adversary. The conference was organised to further enhance this synergy, he added. Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the intervening night of May 6 and 7 in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 persons, mostly tourists, dead on April 22. The spokesman said that the high-level meeting brought together senior army officials and representatives from key government departments of Jammu division to discuss matters of strategic and civic importance. The conference served as a platform to deliberate on critical issues such as infrastructure development, civic-military synergy in the remote areas and the ongoing efforts to support the local populations along the border areas, he added. Maj Gen Bhanwala emphasised the importance of seamless collaboration between civil and military agencies. The divisional commissioner of Jammu during his address acknowledged the Indian Army's sustained efforts in humanitarian assistance and infrastructure support across the region. The discussions during the conference also covered the issues of road connectivity in border villages, border area tourism and welfare measures for ex-servicemen and their families, the spokesman said. The conference concluded with a reaffirmed commitment as a Whole of Nation Approach' towards peace, development and resilience in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

Jammu: Army chief felicitates BSF woman officer for defending Akhnoor posts
Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Pargwal sector of Akhnoor and reviewed operational preparedness on Friday, officials said. He also met BSF Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari and her team for defending forward posts in the Akhnoor sector during the Pakistan conflict. 'General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed operational preparedness in J&K's Pargwal sector and visited the Tiger Division where he commended troops for their outstanding performance in Operation Sindoor . He stressed the importance of staying agile and vigilant in response to evolving security dynamics,' said a defence spokesperson. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) also praised BSF's close operational integration with the army and lauded the bravery of Bhandari and her team for defending forward posts in the Akhnoor sector, he added. He also praised the paramilitary force and ex-servicemen for their role during Operation Sindoor, the army said. The army chief had reached Jammu on a two-day visit on Thursday and attended the high-level security review meeting chaired by home minister Amit Shah. Commanding a border outpost within eyeball-to-eyeball contact of a Pakistani post along the international border, the assistant commandant led her troops to silence three forward hostile posts across the zero line (the area closest to enemy territory) by giving a befitting reply. Bhandari got a commendation disc from the army chief, the Jammu BSF stated on X. Apart from Neha, six women constables held gun positions at a forward border post, rising with every bullet they fired at the enemy positions across the international border in the Samba, RS Pura and Akhnoor sectors. Neha, a third-generation officer from her family in Uttarakhand, takes pride in being part of the BSF and commanding a border outpost in the Pargwal forward area of the Akhnoor sector in the Jammu district during Operation Sindoor. 'I feel proud to be manning a post along the International Border with my troops. It is approximately 150 meters away from the Pakistani post in the Akhnoor–Pargwal area,' she said. (With PTI inputs)

General Dwivedi praised BSF 's close operational integration with the Army and lauded the bravery of an assistant commandant, Neha Bhandari, and her team for defending forward posts in Akhnoor, Col Bartwal said. 'COAS (Gen Dwivedi) also acknowledged valuable contributions of ex-servicemen in supporting the forces during Operation Sindoor,' the spokesperson said. On Friday, General Dwivedi had inspected forward areas and posts along Jammu division's Sunderbani sector. He was briefed by commanders on the security scenario and operational dynamics along LoC as part of a comprehensive overview of the current strategic environment, officials said.
