New York Giants trade prediction sends Kayvon Thibodeaux to NFC contender

The New York Giants face an interesting situation entering the 2025 season as the current regime must have a win-now mindset despite coming off a 3-14 campaign. So many decisions about the future won't be made until the season gets underway and the Giants can look at the direction of the franchise truly. This is especially true when it comes to potential players who may be traded during the upcoming campaign. Throughout the offseason, edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux had been the subject of trade talks since it was reported that the Giants were targeting No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter. In a recent article about bold predictions at the NFL trade deadline, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report has the Giants sending Thibodeaux to the Detroit Lions. Still, considering shortcomings elsewhere, trading Thibodeaux to address a larger need would be logical, especially if the team is still alive as the deadline approaches. I get the feeling that will actually be the case, as Russell Wilson could have a redemption season in him thanks in part to the emergence of Malik Nabers. If that's how things go down, we are again looking at Washington, Green Bay and Detroit. In this case, Thibodeaux is the consolation prize because he's not close to as established as Hendrickson. The Lions have more money to spend than the Commanders and may feel the need to at least outbid them here to keep up with the Joneses in the NFC North. If the Giants are still in the hunt to have a competitive record, it will be interesting to see what path they take. They could hold onto Thibodeaux, considering his fifth-year option for 2026 is already exercised. Or they could look to cash out before giving him a new deal. A lot of this depends on the development of Carter as well. If the Penn State product bursts onto the scene and commands more snaps each week as the trade deadline approaches, the Giants may want to consider a deal that involves Thibodeaux. In 2024, Thibodeaux put together a strong campaign despite finishing with only 5.5 sacks. His 42 total pressures were just six fewer than his career-high mark, and he was on pace for 59 total pressures had he played a full season, per Next Gen Stats. Much of this is speculation at this point in the offseason, but once the season arrives, it will be interesting to see what happens with this narrative.

Win or lose, the New York Giants are always part of Gotham's discussion, but this next statement doubles as 'stating the obvious'. When they lose, there is always more to talk about. That expensive offensive line just hasn't gotten the job done. Brian Daboll is supposed to be the offensive genius, and Big Blue's offensive attack hasn't gotten much done under his tenure. When is he going to reach his potential? No one knows the answer, not even Thibodeaux himself, but that hasn't lessened his confidence, not one iota. Take those bright lights that were mentioned earlier. They are enough to blind even the most talented stars. Their heat can wilt someone if they aren't quite ready for the attention. Lawrence Taylor became a legend playing under the spotlight. Michael Strahan blossomed. Big Blue's fans hoped that Thibodeaux would embody some of the best traits from both of them. But, it's year three. Time has flown, and the Super Bowl glory delivered by both Taylor and Strahan seems to be eluding Mr. Thibodeaux. In fact, the target seems further away than he was drafted fifth overall in 2022. Must read: Giants Offensive Line Still Expected To Struggle Despite Big Spending Kayvon is no stranger to being vocal about what his goals are. Well before taking his first NFL snap, he insisted he wanted to "average at least one sack a game or contribute five to ten tackles a game." If the math is correct, that would have landed him around 85 tackles and 17 sacks. He finished his rookie campaign with 49 tackles and four sacks. His second season was his best to date. He notched 50 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Shortly thereafter, he decided to set the bar high for himself. He announced he wanted to break the NFL's single-season sack record, one held by Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt and the aforementioned Michael Strahan. The following season, he suffered an injury. He suffered a wrist injury, one requiring surgery that placed him on the shelf from his trip to the injured reserve on October 12, 2024 to his activation on November 23. Kayvon met with the New York media during the first day of minicamp and again set his sights on breaking Strahan and Watt's sack record. "Every time I come out on the field, I want to have more sacks than I ever have, more tackles than I ever have. I'm still going for the record, I'm going for the record every year." - Kayvon Thibodeaux — Giants Videos (@SNYGiants) June 17, 2025 And, with that, the clock is restarted and has begun ticking again. Time has flown. It's year four of the Kayvon Thibodeaux experience in the big city. No one has forgotten the goal. Trust and believe it will be mentioned again if unmet, but here's the obvious question. How is he going to be able to do this while sharing snaps with Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter?

Church Point residents are no strangers to floods

CHURCH POIN, La. (KLFY) — In Acadia Parish, one area that's prone to flooding resulted in a few roads being closed. But, just as quickly as the flood waters came, they receded. At the corner of W. Corporate St. and Gayle Dr., homeowners in the area report that when it rains heavily, the area tends to flood. It's something they wish they didn't have to deal with, although it's something they're used to. 'It floods a lot, especially if they have a good amount of rain.' The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said. When the roadways flood, vehicles tend to push water into homes. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now 'I know neighbors that had that problem before where people don't respect the barricades and stuff like that. and as people pass through the waters in their houses and that becomes a problem for them and stuff like that.' The resident said. Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux said this area is no stranger to flooding because of where it's located. 'What happens is when the bayou and Bayou Wikoff gets full, it backs up on us, and that one little area right there from the street, Broadway, and then Gayle Dr., that's where it all backs up into that one little area.' Thibodeaux said. Chief Thibodeaux said his department makes it a point to inform the public about roadways that are closed because it's a way to keep motorists safe. He said barricades are usually put to avoid anyone running off into the ditch. 'But people need to understand this for their safety. It's not because we feel like going walking water or the town personnel feels like walking in water to put barricades. It's for their safety.' Thibodeaux said. Church Point saw up to 3.8 inches of rain and some surrounding areas saw a little over 4 inches. As of this afternoon, roadways that were closed in church point are now open. Ugly fight breaks out at New York Giants OTA as Kayvon Thibodeaux throws a punch at teammate

Giants OTA fight turns wild: Kayvon Thibodeaux throws punch, practice shut down So much for a chill offseason workout. What was supposed to be a routine, non-contact OTA session for the New York Giants turned wildly chaotic on Thursday and it all started with a helmet, a punch, and some very overheated tempers. No pads, no tackling, but apparently, no chill either. By the time coaches shut down the practice early, several players had gotten involved, helmets were tossed like dodgeballs, and it was far from just 'competitive fire.' Tensions boiled over when Kayvon Thibodeaux yanked off a helmet and threw a punch The mayhem kicked off when Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux ripped the helmet off offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor and then straight-up threw a punch at him. That's not exactly what OTAs are for. Thibodeaux's move set off a chain reaction. Offensive tackle James Hudson came charging in like a linebacker, tackling Thibodeaux to the ground. And then, boom, Brian Burns, the team's new high-profile pass rusher, jumped in to defend Thibodeaux and went after Hudson. Before you knew it, the fight had spilled to the middle of the field, players were going at it from all sides, and the energy was anything but 'voluntary camp' vibes. With the brawl spreading across the 50-yard line and more teammates piling in, head coach Brian Daboll had no choice but to end the practice early. That almost never happens, especially in no-pad, no-contact drills. But this one clearly crossed a line. Remember, these aren't even mandatory sessions. This was supposed to be a light, chemistry-building week, not a full-contact brawl with punches thrown. Players tried to downplay it afterward but the fight was anything but minor After practice, Brian Burns chalked the fight up to the heat (both literally and emotionally), saying: 'The heat got to us. Tensions raised a little high. But it ain't that deep. We squashed it.' Russell Wilson also played it cool, saying this type of stuff happens and won't carry over. Still, no one denied how intense things got in the moment. It's worth noting: This is the second time during these OTAs that tempers have flared. There was already a shoving match between Burns and Hudson earlier in the day before Thibodeaux escalated things on the next play. The Giants defense has major energy this year with guys like Thibodeaux, Burns, and even rookie Abdul Carter all trying to stand out. But if this is what they're doing in June, the coaching staff will need to keep that fire under control before it burns the house down. The Giants have more OTA sessions scheduled for June 9–10 and 12–13. Whether they're calmer or even more chaotic... we'll have to wait and see. Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux rips Eagles fans with incendiary comments that could backfire

The Giants are in no place to claim bragging rights over the Super Bowl champion Eagles, but that didn't stop Kayvon Thibodeaux from brutally roasting Philly fans on Kevin Hart's podcast. 'Is it true that Eagles fans are actually, like, not smart?' Thibodeaux asked Hart from an ice bath on a recent episode of the comedian's 'Cold As Balls' show. 'There are statistics that you guys are literally f—ing idiots.' Hart panned to the camera with an incredulous look as Thibodeaux kept going. 'Like, no bulls–t, I know you're one of them, so I get it. Like, 2.2 [GPA], I get it,' the star pass rusher told Hart, a Philadelphia native and diehard Eagles fan. The Giants, of course, finished last season 3-14 and went 0-2 against Philadelphia, which won its second overall Super Bowl with former Big Blue first-round pick Saquon Barkley starring in the backfield. In Thibodeaux's three years in New York, the Giants have a combined record of 18-32-1. The Eagles have gone a combined 39-12 over the same stretch. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux asked Kevin Hart about Eagles fans. @underdog/X Nonetheless, Thibodeaux seemed to be enjoying the lighthearted banter with Hart on the podcast, which released April 29. Outside of the anti-Eagles ribbing, the two discussed Thibodeaux's football journey, played a game of chess and debated which position Hart would play in Philly's trademark 'tush push' – all while sitting in side-by-side ice baths. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux doesn't seem to think highly of Eagles fans. Matthew McDermott The Eagles and Giants will face off on 'Thursday Night Football' in Week 6 – where Thibodeaux will get the chance to back up his jab with a big game. If that doesn't happen? The star pass rusher will surely be reminded of his comments by the ever-rabid Philly faithful.
