Former Edinburgh council leader back in Labour after being cleared of ‘inappropriate messages' claim
Labour has ended the suspension and Day will resume his duties as party councillor. A former Edinburgh council leader is back in Scottish Labour after he was cleared by police of inappropriate behaviour. It is understood Cammy Day's administrative suspension has been lifted by Labour after a probe into allegations about his conduct. Day quit as leader in August amid allegations he bombarded Ukrainian refugees with messages about sex on apps. The Sunday Mail reported last year that two refugees said they felt unable to ignore unsolicited approaches from Day due to his position as leader of Edinburgh City Council. At the time of the story, police were examining a complaint made in the previous year to the council's whistleblowing service. However, a Police Scotland spokesperson said in April: 'Following a report relating to inappropriate behaviour, extensive enquiries have been carried out, no criminality has been established and no one has been arrested. 'Time is no barrier to our enquiries and any further information received will be assessed. 'I would urge anyone who wishes to report a crime, regardless of when it happened, to contact us so we can conduct a thorough and professional investigation." Labour also suspended Day when the allegations about Ukrainian refugees broke, but he is a member of the party's group on the council again. Day's administrative suspension has ended. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Day, who led a minority Labour administration before he quit, alleged that he was the victim of a political plot: 'What they've done is ruined a whole number of lives.' 'Things were leaked to the media, leaked to the Labour Party and reported to the police all at the same time. So someone co-ordinated this, and I think it was an orchestrated political campaign against me. 'It was clearly politically motivated, the fact everything seems to be coming from one party tells me where it's coming from.' He added: 'I'm just pleased that police have said there's nothing to see and I can get on with my job.' Day said of his use of gay dating apps: 'Have I used apps for a gay man like me? Of course, yeah, I have no issues saying that. 'So does every other gay man in the City Chambers. That's what people do these days. But that's not illegal. Have I done anything offensive? Absolutely not.' He also denied ever acting inappropriately, targeting any particular group or 'chasing any Ukrainians'. 'I've chatted with gay men on an app,' he said. 'The content of that chat I don't think is relevant. I've had a chat with another gay man, we've exchanged pictures together, we've had chats. We've maybe met and had a drink, or maybe not. That's what people do.'

Snoop Dogg hopes to open burger van at Celtic Park
Snoop Dogg has said he hopes to open a burger van at Celtic Park - and serve fans himself. The Californian rapper - real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr - has previously spoken of investing in the Glasgow football club, similar to Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds's involvement with Wrexham AFC. Snoop Dogg has already published a cookbook and claims to have spoken to chef Gordon Ramsay about a possible venture in Glasgow together - but he has now revealed he wants to set up a fast-food van at Celtic's stadium in the city's east end. He has described Celtic supporters as "special" and the best fans in European football. Snoop Dogg said he identifies strongly with the club's mascot Hoopy the Hound - describing it in a previous interview as a "match made in Heaven". The keen sports fan worked as a correspondent for NBC at the Paris Olympics last year. He has launched two youth football leagues and has been a vocal advocate for pay equality for female athletes. Snoop Dogg told The Sunday Mail that Celtic fans would support the burger van and that it would become a foodie "Paradise" - the nickname given to Celtic Park. He said: "I would love to bring a pop-up burger [van] to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. "It's got to be Celtic Park, man. The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple-cured bacon. "The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself." But he said he would not be taking his culinary ventures to Celtic's Old Firm rivals at Ibrox. Snoop Dogg told The Sunday Mail: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss."

Convicted murderer snapped volunteering for Labor Party with Queensland MP Wendy Bourne in lead up to federal election
Queensland MP Wendy Bourne has been pictured next to a convicted murderer sporting a Labor Party T-shirt as the pair campaigned together for the party in April, a now-deleted post on social media has revealed. John William Holznagel was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his estranged wife and her boyfriend in 1979, but he only ended up serving around 13 years of the sentence imposed. The Sunday Mail revealed that Mr Holznagel is now a preacher in the southeast Queensland town of Rosewood, west of Ipswich. He has also helped campaign for the Labor Party in the town in the lead up to this year's federal election. The revelation comes after the convicted murderer was spotted with the Queensland member for Ipswich West in a picture posted to social media on April 19, which has since been deleted from the website. In the photo, Mr Holznagel appears to be volunteering for the political party as he wears a Labor Party T-shirt displaying Ms Bourne's name on the front. The pair had been spreading the word about the Albanese government's 'record cost of living relief' and 'record spending on locals roads' in Rosewood that day, according to the caption of the post. Labor have said Ms Bourne was unaware of the convicted murder's background when the photo was taken, The Courier Mail has reported. has approached Ms Bourne for comment. Mr Holznagel was aged 24 when he killed his estranged wife Christine Joan Holznagel, 20, and her boyfriend John Steven Kingston, 22, more than 40 years ago in suburban Brisbane. The apparent blunder by the Queensland MP to be in a picture with Mr Holznagel joins a number of controversies that have surrounded 2025 federal election campaign volunteers. Minister for Housing Clare O'Neil became entangled in a controversy after it was revealed that ten individuals associated with Hubei Association, a group accused of having ties to the Chinese Communist Party, were being recruited to staff her polling booths on election day. Teal MP Monique Ryan was also embroiled in the situation as a video emerged of a volunteer for her campaign saying that Hubei Assocation president Ji Jianmin "required us Chinese diaspora to support her". Labor MP Andrew Charlton was also filmed questioning Liberal Party volunteers about their religion in his Parramatta electorate, in footage which showed him approaching a person and asking "Are you a member of the exclusive Brethren? Are you?". Sky News host Chris Kenny at the time the footage surfaced suggested Mr Charlton's questioning of volunteers was "odd". "What business is it of Charlton's to ask people about their religion. Why is it relevant?" Kenny asked.
