ESPN analyst suggests Bucs' Baker Mayfield may be 'sorta shaky' ahead of 2025
ESPN analyst suggests Bucs' Baker Mayfield may be 'sorta shaky' ahead of 2025 The NFL dominates almost an entire calendar year's worth of headlines. Of course, there are all the happenings of the regular season starting in September through the culmination of the season with the Super Bowl in February, and every sort of power ranking you could think of every week. For some, there is no rest for the wicked because free agency opens in March. Which, of course, means post-free-agency power rankings and grades. As that is going on, we are preparing for the NFL Draft in April. Which leads into watching college game film, understanding a team's needs, creating at least 400 mock drafts each year, and debating it with anyone who will listen. What happens after the Draft? Grades and power rankings. April is also the month when minicamp begins, with rookie minicamp starting in May and running through OTAs and mandatory minicamp in June. June 19th is the last day for remaining teams to hold their mandatory minicamps, which naturally means that this provides more opportunities to grade and rank teams because we really don't do that enough. On The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny, ESPN's Kimes and Ben Sloak ranked their Top 10 offenses heading into the 2025 NFL season; they each had the Bucs sliding in at ten and seven, respectively. Kimes said that she watched more of the Bucs from last season than any other team to try and prep, because the numbers last season were "so insane for them and it feels slept on for how good they were last year." So why the ranking so low for a team that had one of the most prolific offenses in 2024, returning all 11 starters, and added a first-round pick at wide receiver in Emeka Egbuka in the Draft? Is it because Mike Evans is a year older, and Chris Godwin is coming off a brutal ankle injury? Nope. "I have to ding them for sorta shaky quarterback," Kimes said of Baker Mayfield. "He's good, I'm just saying, that and the loss of the coordinator [Coen], so that was it for me," she continued. As we know, Mayfield loves it when the media discredits his body of work, and is always looking for a reason to play with a chip on his shoulder. Maybe there is a bit of natural regression down from the 4, 500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions due to the Coen leaving for Jacksonville. It's a safe bet that Mayfield will still fall into the Top 10 range simply because there are too many offensive weapons on the Buccaneers roster, paired with one of the best offensive lines in the league, for the Bucs offense to hang on to a Top 10 position by a thread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Address Why They're ‘Under the Radar' Contenders
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Address Why They're 'Under the Radar' Contenders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers underrated as a franchise? That is the argument Mina Kimes has made on her show "The Mina Kimes Show." During this week's stream, the ESPN host interviewed Buccaneers veteran linebacker Lavonte David to answer that very question. Advertisement Like Kimes, David was seemingly perplexed as to why the Buccaneers always seem to operate under the radar. "I don't know why. We're a humble organization" David said. "We got a lot of great players. It's good though, we like having that underdog mentality. We have a bunch of underdogs. A lot of guys with a tremendous amount of talent and a lot of heart that battle week in and week out for each other." Perhaps one of the reasons why fans and pundits seem to overlook Tampa Bay is due to their start. When Tampa Bay was an expansion franchise in the 1970s, they were easily the worst team in the league. Things have changed over the last few decades, though. Advertisement Tampa is a title contender. And while they continue to perform in the shadows, that is perfectly fine for their upstart roster. In the case of David, he has already won a Super Bowl, and is still one of the best leaders in the league. As he looks to put the finishing touches on his career, he's hoping the organization has one more title run to go on during the 2025 season. Broncos closely linked to 3 prospects ahead of NFL draft
Broncos closely linked to 3 prospects ahead of NFL draft The 2025 NFL draft is just a few days away, and reports are emerging of the Denver Broncos showing strong interest in several prospects. Earlier today, ESPN's Matt Miller reported that Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden has a draft range of 20-35, and he noted that Denver "did a ton of work on him." It should be noted that there have been some concerns about Burden's work ethic (which his coach has denied). One anonymous scout was quoted by Bob McGinn as saying Burden's "mom is a problem" as the receiver's manager. It's unclear if any of that is accurate, but we do know the Broncos remove players with big character concerns from their big board, so the rumors are at least worth noting. Elsewhere, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has noted the team's "love affair" with Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. "I'm fascinated to see what happens, I don't think he gets there, but Colston Loveland," Jeremiah said during an appearance on "The Mina Kimes Show" on Monday. "The Broncos have long been connected to having a, no pun intended, love affair with Loveland, but they went out and signed Evan Engram and gave him decent money. So is that enough to take them off of Loveland if he somehow got to them? That's one of the little sidebars I'm looking forward to." Meanwhile, DNVR's Zac Stevens has reported that Denver is high on Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson, "so much so that they could use their first-round pick on him." Stevens has also reported that the Broncos could be looking to trade up for a tight end, and sources have indicated that Loveland has "caught [Sean] Payton's eye." Burden? Loveland? Henderson? True interest or smoke screens? We'll get answers on Thursday night. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Mason Graham or Jalon Walker for Jaguars? Todd McShay makes his pick
On the latest episode of 'The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny,' NFL draft analyst Todd McShay was presented with two options for the Jacksonville Jaguars at pick No. 5. He could select Mason Graham or Jalon Walker. Without hesitation, McShay picked Walker. Advertisement "I've got physical guys up front," said McShay of the Jaguars' defensive line. "My run defense was really bad last year, but you know what was worse? My pass defense. Last in the league. "I need another pass rusher on that defensive front. I can kick Travon Walker inside in certain situations. I've got guys that can two-gap and we can improve in that area, and I've got to be better versus the pass. I'm going to take Jalon Walker and utilize his versatility. He's such a dynamic, explosive athlete. For some reason, I just feel like that's the play if you want to take a significant step next year." Along with Kimes and McShay mentioning Walker at pick No. 5 for the Jaguars, Adam Schefter did as well recently. Advertisement Walker played both off-ball linebacker and pass rusher in the Georgia defense. To maximize that versatility, Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting report utilizing Walker as a linebacker on early downs and a blitzer or pass rusher during obvious passing situations. Then, as McShay said, on those passing downs, that would then allow the Jaguars to move Travon Walker inside, with Jalon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen at defensive end. Along with what Walker would add to the Jaguars' defense on the field, also mentioned in Zierlein's scouting report is that his leadership is "famous in the Georgia building," which is important to note, given that we've frequently heard GM James Gladstone discuss the importance of bringing in "intangibly rich" players. In Anthony Campanile's defensive scheme, where versatility and the ability to adapt will be important elements, Walker's ability to play multiple roles could be quite valuable.
