Freeview users need to take action now or miss out on six major channel changes
Freeview users are set to see a TV guide switch up, but they must retune their TV to reap the rewards. Freeview users are being told to take action now as the service has confirmed that a channel switch up is taking place. All users need to do is head over to their settings and give their TV a quick retune to gain access to the major update. If users fail to do so, or do not regularly retune their device, then their homes will be left at a loss as they are missing out on different TV shows and channels to watch. Freeview has confirmed the latest switch up, which took place yesterday - June 18. The television company said: "On 18 June 2025 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels. You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date." So what TV guide channels have been part of the switch up and how do Freeview users change it? The first change is that two channels have received a rename, reports the Express. That's TV Pride (Ch 76) will now be known as That's Dance, while That's Pride MCR (Ch 79) has changed to That's Dance MCR. The next switch involved two channels getting moved around on the TV guide. Blaze+1 has moved from channel 81 to channel 92, with the reverse done to Rewind TV - moved from channel 92 to channel 81. Finally, Freeview users will also see two new channels launching that may be of interest. Must Have Ideas will be on channel 96, which will show shopping content all day long - 24 hours a day. Additionally, channel 288 will now be the home of OUTflix Proud. This channel will offer a mix of LGBTQ+ reality shows, documentaries, original series and feature films. The service said: "Channels are constantly evolving on Freeview with individual channels making the decision to move, add or remove channels. "Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content." On top of all this, the team at RXTV shared that they noticed that 4seven is changing the way it chooses to broadcast its content. Essentially, the update will allow more people to view things on the platform, such as live sport. After users retune their device, 4seven should be seen on channel 49, while the older version will still be appearing on channel 790. How to retune your Freeview device Freeview has issued advice for users on how to retune their devices in a few easy steps. • Press menu on your box or TV remote control • Select 'set-up', 'installation', 'update' or a similar option. If you're asked for a password, the default code is '1234' or '0000'. • Select 'first-time installation' (sometimes called 'factory reset', 'full retune' or 'default settings'). •Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you're prompted to, save the channels that are found. If these changes weren't enough of a reason to retune your TV, ITV's recent update has seen the launch of ITV Quiz. This platform will offer users back-to-back access to their favourite quiz shows and it will be found on channel 28. Brits will be able to watch continuous game shows such as Tipping Point, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, Lino and Tenable all on one channel.
