The event, organised under the leadership of Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy, witnessed enthusiastic participation from a cross-section of society, including political leaders, film celebrities, and the general public. Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister Srinivasa Verma, MP Etala Rajender, BJP leader Khushboo, and film actors Sai Dharam Tej, Teja Sajja, and Meenakshi Chowdhury were among the prominent personalities who performed yoga asanas and addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Kishan Reddy said, "After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, India gifted the world the treasure of Yoga. Over 200 countries have adopted and embraced Yoga, and this is a matter of pride for every Indian. From the land of Telangana, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for introducing Yoga to the world. Celebrations should be held in every corner of the country on June 21." Highlighting the nationwide fervour for Yoga Day, Reddy added, "Today, we have organised a 24-hour countdown here at LB Stadium. Tomorrow, I will be participating in the Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam alongside 5 lakh people — a proud moment for Telugu-speaking states." He emphasised that Yoga should be an essential part of daily life, describing it as "our first doctor and a panacea for health and well-being." Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu praised the initiative and congratulated Kishan Reddy for organising the countdown event. "Yoga is not just a one-day event. It should be a lifelong practice. It enhances mental and physical fitness, reduces stress, and strengthens focus. With the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' Prime Minister Modi has inspired an unprecedented global response," he said. Naidu also invoked the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of Yoga, drawing references from the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. "Yoga is about self-discipline, concentration, and awakening inner strength. It transcends religion and caste — it is a science of health and harmony passed down from our ancestors." He urged the youth to embrace Yoga with dedication: "This is not for commission or omission, but a mission, a passion for the nation." Naidu also touched upon India's growing global stature, crediting the success of operations like 'Sindoor' to the strength and resilience of the Indian armed forces and scientific community. 'Uniting the world through Yoga is a noble path toward global peace. Let's promote Yoga in every household — among men, women, and children — as a timeless health science for all.' The countdown event at LB Stadium served as a vibrant prelude to the International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled across India on June 21, with Prime Minister Modi expected to participate in the main event at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par opens with decent advance booking of nearly Rs 4 crore
After a long gap since Laal Singh Chaddha, returns to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, a film that promises to touch hearts and tug at emotions. Directed by R.S. Prasanna — best known for helming the 2017 sleeper hit Shubh Mangal Saavdhan — this heartwarming drama also marks the return of Genelia D'Souza to mainstream Hindi cinema. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now And as the film gears up for release, the first day advance booking figures have trickled in, offering a glimpse of the audience's early response. As per Sacnilk the film has received booking worth Rs 1.09 crore till 11 AM and if one adds block bookings the collection jumps to Rs 3.7 crore, selling a respectable 42,021 tickets across 6,834 shows nationwide. Not surprisingly, the Hindi version leads the tally, raking in nearly Rs 99.4 lakh from 32,781 tickets across 6,470 shows. The film's average ticket pricing (ATP) in the Hindi belt stands at Rs 243, indicating a slightly premium ticketing strategy — possibly targeting urban family audiences. Interestingly, the film has also found takers in the southern markets. In the Telugu-speaking regions, it managed to sell over 8,200 tickets for Rs 8.14 lakh, while its Tamil version clocked Rs 1.27 lakh through 1,007 tickets. While modest, these numbers reflect Aamir Khan's lingering pan-India appeal. For Aamir Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par isn't just another film — it's a critical test of his box office credibility after the underwhelming performance of Laal Singh Chaddha. While advance booking numbers may not be record-shattering by Aamir's own past standards, they suggest cautious optimism, with decent family and emotional drama audiences likely to turn up for weekend shows. Moreover, the emotional connect of the film's subject — centred around acceptance, love, and familial bonds — combined with R.S. Prasanna's sensitive direction and Genelia's long-awaited comeback, could give Sitaare Zameen Par the walk-in boost it needs to find its word-of-mouth set to play a decisive role, all eyes will be on its weekend trajectory. Sitaare Zameen Par is clashing with 's Kuberaa which also stars Nagrjuna and .

‘Speak In Kannada': Bengaluru Woman's Response To Vox-Pop Host Triggers Debate
Last Updated: Her firm assertion has resonated with many Kannadigas online, who feel that their language is increasingly being sidelined in Bengaluru. A viral street interview from Bengaluru has reignited conversations around the ongoing language tensions in Karnataka. The widely circulated clip shows a Telugu-speaking vox pop host approaching locals for reactions to Royal Challengers Bengaluru's recent IPL victory. However, when he attempted to interview a woman, she calmly but firmly interrupted, insisting that he ask the question in Kannada. Before responding, the woman said, 'Speak in Kannada first. You must ask the question in Kannada." Momentarily taken aback, the host replied politely, saying he only knew 'Swalpa swalpa barutthe" — meaning 'just a little" in Kannada. Without missing a beat, the woman encouraged him with a smile, 'Swalpa swalpane mathadi, paravagilla" — 'That's okay, you can speak even a little Kannada." You should first speak in Kannada!Actually swalpa swalpa barutthe(Actually i know a little bit of Kannada) Swalpa swlapane mathadi paravagilla (that's okay you can converse in a little bit of Kannada only) That's Kannadathi for you 🙌🙌🙌 — ರವಿ-Ravi ಆಲದಮರ (@AaladaMara) June 7, 2025 Her calm yet firm assertion has resonated with many Kannadigas online, who feel that their language is increasingly being sidelined in Bengaluru's multilingual urban landscape. However, the video has sparked widespread attention and a wave of mixed reactions on social media. While many applauded the woman for respectfully standing up for Kannada, others criticised the moment as yet another instance of the city's ongoing and, at times, exhausting language politics. Another said, 'Good on you, Kannada girl. Keep it up. Polite and assertive." 'Did anyone ask the RCB players to learn Kannada before playing for Bengaluru? Puchta hai Bharat," quipped a user. An individual said, 'Now KANNADIGAS are getting awakened after the ignorance and arrogance came to light and also after some people showed that you are sidelined in your own Karnataka." 'When someone asks for Kannada politely, it reminds others to respect the place they're in," another comment said. This incident is the latest in a series of events that have thrust Bengaluru's language debates into the spotlight. Just a few months ago, another viral video, reportedly filmed in Mumbai, showed individuals struggling to identify Kannada as the official language of Bengaluru. In the vox pop-style clip, several people mistakenly guessed Hindi, Tamil, or English, sparking outrage and renewed discussions about linguistic awareness and regional identity. ತಪ್ಪು ಅವರದಲ್ಲ… — Ice Candy ಗೋಪಾಲ (@IceCandyGopalaa) March 2, 2025 The clip sparked outrage among Kannada speakers, many of whom felt that their language is gradually fading with time and being overlooked in broader public discourse.
