Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan directed officials to ensure the strict and transparent implementation of the State Government's prestigious Free Sand Policy in Sri Sathya Sai district. He issued these instructions while presiding over the District Level Sand Com-mittee (DLSC) meeting held on Thursday at the Mini Conference Hall of the Collec-torate. Speaking at the meeting, he stated that the orders issued by the State Govern-ment must be rigorously enforced at the district level. He noted that the district administration is already implementing the free sand policy transparently and effi-ciently. The Collector instructed that all vehicles transporting sand must display a banner stating 'Free Sand Transport Vehicle' and must be equipped with GPS tracking systems. He also directed that CCTV cameras be installed at all sand supply cen-ters and their operations be continuously monitored. To prevent interstate illegal sand transportation, he ordered intensified night sur-veillance at check posts set up in coordination with the police. The Collector warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the free sand policy. He also held a review on sand reaches and sand excavation operations across Sri Sathya Sai district and stressed the need to completely eliminate illegal sand mining and transportation. Officials from relevant departments were instructed to coordinate effectively at the field level to ensure proper sand distribution. meeting was attended by DLSC members, District SP V Ratna, Vice Chairman and Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, Convenor and District Mines & Geology Officer B Peddi Reddy, and other officials.

Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan informed that under 2024–25 scheme, subsidised agricultural machinery worth Rs 1,72,75,038 was distributed to 1,021 farmers across the district. Speaking at the event held on Wednesday at PGRS Meeting Hall in the Collectorate, Chetan stated that equipment such as rotavators, brush cutters, sprayers, threshers, and tillers were distributed through Rythu Samakhya Kendras (RSKs). He urged farmers to make the best use of these government-provided resources. A review meeting was also conducted with representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), where the Collector inquired about the ongoing programmes and challenges faced by FPOs. He advised them on strategies to ensure better prices for farmers and explained detailed action plans for future. FPO representatives also submitted their proposals to strengthen the FPO framework in the district. As part of the event, a symbolic mega cheque for Rs 1.72 crore was handed over to farmers. District Agriculture Officer YV Subbarao, Horticulture Officer Chandrasekhar, DRDA PD Narasayya, agricultural development officers, agriculture department officials, FPO representatives, farmers, and leaders of farmers' unions were present.

Kothacheruvu: Under the leadership of District Collector TS Chetan, top-performing students from the 2024–25 academic year were felicitated with 'Shining Stars - 2025' awards at a grand function held at Sri Venkateswara Kalyana Mandapam, Kothacheruvu. The event, organised by the District Education Department and Samagra Shiksha, recognised students who secured top marks in the Class 10 public exams. As part of the award, each student received 20,000 in cash, a medal, and a memento. A total of 187 Class 10 students and 38 Intermediate students were honored at the event. Local MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, former minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, DEO Kishtappa, Intermediate Officer Devaraju, and other officials were present. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector urged students not to fall prey to the distractions of social media or the growing menace of drug abuse. He stressed that education should be complemented with physical and mental well-being to succeed in today's competitive world. MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy emphasized the importance of Class 10 and Intermediate education as the foundation for pursuing professional careers like medicine and engineering.

Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan has directed officials of various departments to handle PGRS (Public Grievance Redressal System) petitions with utmost responsibility and attention. During the public grievance redressal programme held at the District Secretariat's Grievance Hall on Monday, the Collector personally received petitions from citizens across the district. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that officials must respond meaningfully to each petition and ensure effective redressal. Every grievance will be audited, and officials are expected to coordinate with field staff to provide timely and satisfactory responses. The progress of grievance resolutions will be reviewed weekly, and in cases where grievances are re-opened, officials must provide clear justifications. Citizens submitted petitions related to land disputes, ration cards, housing titles, and pension approvals, among other issues. A total of 228 petitions were received during the session. The event was attended by DRO Vijaya Saradhi, Puttaparthi RDO, Special Deputy Collector Suvarna Surya Narayana Reddy, and officials from various departments.

Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan urged the public to 'Plant trees and protect nature' as part of World Environment Day celebrations held at Edula Konda, behind Prasanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi. The event was organised by the District Forest Department and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Collector, local MLA Sindhura Reddy, and other officials who planted saplings as part of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Collector TS Chetan emphasized that the Vanam Manam (Our Forest) initiative should not merely be seen as a government programme but embraced as a personal responsibility by every citizen. He called upon people and local voluntary organisations to actively participate in the greening efforts across the district. Highlighting the district's commitment to sustainability, the Collector announced that under the Vanam Manam initiative, the target is to plant four lakh saplings. He appealed to citizens to take responsibility for nurturing the saplings they plant—whether in their backyards or public spaces—until they fully grow. Stressing the urgency of environmental protection, he encouraged the use of eco-friendly and plastic-free alternatives, aiming to gift a pollution-free future to the next generations. MLA Sindhura Reddy reminded everyone that June 5 has been observed as World Environment Day since 1972. The MLA lauded Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's visionary leadership in making environmental conservation a core government mission. She said such initiatives are being carried out across the state as part of his commitment to sustainable development. This collective action marks a significant step towards creating a greener and more sustainable Sri Sathya Sai district.
