Sindh CM asks two key depts to firm up budget proposals
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a joint meeting of the Finance Department and the Planning and Development Department to firm up proposals for the upcoming fiscal year's budget. The meeting was attended by Planning and Development Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Secretary Finance Fiyaz Jatoi, and other relevant officials. 'Despite today being an official holiday, we have convened this meeting of P&D and the Finance Department to finalise the upcoming fiscal year's budget,' he said, adding that more meetings would be convened soon to finalise the proposals. 'The upcoming budget must be made in the interest of the public.' Planning and Development Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah informed the chief minister that out of 4,644 ongoing development schemes, 1,812 are expected to be completed this year. He directed that funds for the development schemes nearing completion should be released immediately. He said that various departments have proposed new schemes for the next fiscal year, many of which have been suggested at local level. Murad Shah asked the relevant departments to shortlist the new proposals and present them in the next meeting. 'We will review funding in a separate meeting and finalise the new schemes accordingly,' he said, adding that during the fiscal year 2023–24, the Sindh government had initiated 1,937 new development schemes worth Rs. 88.3 billion. Sharjeel, Nasir visit Chery Holdings Group's HQs
WUHU, (China): Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah visited the headquarters of the Chinese automobile company Chery Holdings Group in Wuhu, China. Upon their arrival at Chery Holdings Group, they were warmly welcomed by the Chairman, Yin Tongyue. In a meeting with Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Chairman Yin Tongyue reiterated Chery Holdings' resolve for sustainable development of electric vehicles and alternative energy projects. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah hailed Chery's initiative and once again expressed Pakistan's resolve to enhance such collaborations in a bid to meet the objectives of sustainable development. They termed such collaborations as imperative for driving energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in Pakistan. Due to the initiatives of Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Chery Holdings Group has agreed to set up electric vehicle charging stations throughout Sindh. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that an EV charging station will be established every fifty kilometres across all districts of Sindh. He added that these charging stations will greatly benefit owners of electric motorcycles, cars, and trucks. He said that the transport system in Sindh is being modernized and that their vision is to promote environmentally friendly electric vehicles. Chery Holdings Group has confirmed that EV charging stations will be built in Sindh. The construction of these stations will provide job opportunities to the people of Sindh as well. Apart from this, an assembly plant for EV mini trucks is being established in Karachi. Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the establishment of charging stations and assembly plants will create employment opportunities for the local population and make electric vehicles available at affordable prices. Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated that Chinese investors have assured full cooperation on solar energy projects in rural areas of Sindh. The solarization of homes will help reduce the energy crisis and serve as a significant milestone in promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions. He said that solar systems are being provided to poor families to help meet their daily energy needs. The solarization of homes will enable ordinary people to easily fulfil their electricity requirements. Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the solarization of homes will help the common man save on expensive electricity bills and significantly reduce problems like load shedding. Mini truck assembly line: Chinese investors agree to set up plant in Karachi
KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a mini-truck assembly line in Karachi in collaboration with China. Chinese investors have agreed to set up the plant in the megacity. On behalf of the Sindh government, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also announced that charging stations for electric vehicles will soon be established across Sindh. He stated that these initiatives will greatly benefit various business groups and individuals. Experts hail Chinese EV giant BYD's entry to Pakistan market The unveiling ceremony of manufacturing super mini truck was held in the Chinese city of Bozhou. The event was attended by Sharjeel Inam Memon, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Group CEO of Budget Petroleum Investment Holdings Company (Hong Kong) Zahid Bashir, Chairman of Chinese Company, Chery Holding, Yin Tongyue, and other dignitaries. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Sharjeel Memon said that the super mini truck project is a remarkable example of Pakistan-China industrial collaboration and technical cooperation, which will open new avenues of development and prosperity for both countries. He stated that the Super Mini Truck, developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Chery Holding and Pedi Technology Company Limited, is a revolutionary innovation. The vehicle offers a solution to the logistics challenges faced in both urban and rural areas, while also serving as a model of sustainable, affordable, and accessible transport. Memon said that the mini truck is a remarkable blend of modern engineering, intelligent design, and environmental adaptability, and is fully capable of meeting the growing demand for light commercial vehicles in Pakistan. He stated that the assembly line for the super mini truck will soon be established in Karachi, which will boost industrial development, promote local component manufacturing, create employment opportunities, and facilitate technology transfer in Pakistan. This project marks the first practical step toward transforming Karachi into a regional hub for automobile manufacturing. He said that the Sindh government will extend all possible support, including regulatory facilitation, infrastructure development, and training of local manpower. Cadet College Pitaro: Minister approves Rs250m for solarization
KARACHI: Sindh Energy Development and Planning Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has approved Rs 885 million for the KWSSIP project during the Finance Committee meeting During a meeting of the Finance Sub-Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and attended by Interior, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar, a detailed review was conducted of the financial challenges faced by various Sindh institutions, proposals for solutions were also presented. Minister Nasir Shah stated that solarization of Cadet College Pitaro will be carried out at a cost of Rs 25 crore to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for the students' education and training, providing them with a peaceful learning environment. During the meeting, Nasir Shah and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar also approved Rs 885 million for the KWSSIP Phase II project, based on the committee's recommendation. Provincial ministers emphasized that, in accordance with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's vision and the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh, the cabinet's sub-committee on finance has been established to expedite the completion of projects and provide relief to the public, while resolving obstacles faced by these projects. Entire nation has full confidence in armed forces: minister
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Energy and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, stated that the entire nation is proud of and has full confidence in its dignified armed forces. The Pakistan Armed Forces have raised the nation's head high by giving a strong and befitting response to the enemy's cowardly aggression. He expressed these views while speaking at a Thanksgiving Ceremony organized by the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company on the success of 'Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos'. The ceremony was attended by Sindh Interior Minister Zia Lanjar, Energy Secretary Mushtaq Soomro, STDC CEO Saleem Shaikh, Senior GM Technical Tariq Saeed, Chief Financial Officer Sajjad Junejo, and officials and employees of the Energy Department. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held on this occasion. Nasir Hussain Shah paid tribute to the commanders and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy for the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, saying that we salute the Pakistan Armed Forces, who have earned global recognition.
