Cadet College Pitaro: Minister approves Rs250m for solarization
KARACHI: Sindh Energy Development and Planning Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has approved Rs 885 million for the KWSSIP project during the Finance Committee meeting
During a meeting of the Finance Sub-Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and attended by Interior, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar, a detailed review was conducted of the financial challenges faced by various Sindh institutions, proposals for solutions were also presented.
Minister Nasir Shah stated that solarization of Cadet College Pitaro will be carried out at a cost of Rs 25 crore to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for the students' education and training, providing them with a peaceful learning environment.
During the meeting, Nasir Shah and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar also approved Rs 885 million for the KWSSIP Phase II project, based on the committee's recommendation. Provincial ministers emphasized that, in accordance with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's vision and the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh, the cabinet's sub-committee on finance has been established to expedite the completion of projects and provide relief to the public, while resolving obstacles faced by these projects.
The committee makes decisions swiftly after thorough review and with the consensus of all members, provided that all legal requirements are met.

Section 144 to remain in place across Punjab during Muharram
Listen to article The Punjab government has decided to enforce Section 144 across the province in view of Muharram-ul-Haram, as part of efforts to maintain law and order and prevent sectarian unrest. The Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit have been placed on high alert to ensure safety during Muharram activities. In a recent operation, Dolphin Force recovered firearms from a suspicious black-tinted vehicle on Multan Road, arresting five suspects. Recovered items included two rifles, three pistols, dozens of bullets, and magazines. According to SP Dolphin Arslan Zahid, the suspects—Kashif Ali, Muhammad Rahat, Azeem Anwar, Muhammad Mansab, and Basharat Ali—have been handed over to the Chuhang police station for further legal proceedings. Previously, the Punjab government has rolled out a comprehensive security plan for Muharram, incorporating digital surveillance, inter-agency coordination, and infrastructure safety measures to ensure peaceful religious observances across the province. According to the Home Department, Muharram is likely to begin on June 26 or 27, subject to moon sighting. A digital portal has been activated to monitor majalis, procession routes, and sensitive sites, with deputy commissioners instructed to upload relevant data within five days. The system will be managed by Kamran Taj from the Home Department's MIS section. To bolster security, the department has formally requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers, asking for location and duration details within a week. The request also includes mobile signal jamming in specific high-risk zones. To prevent sectarian unrest, the government has directed that non-Shia religious gatherings remain physically separate from Shia events.

100,000 sanitary workers to get reward money
LAHORE: Reward money announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will be distributed among more than 100,000 workers of the Suthra Punjab Programme on June 21 (today) for their performance during the grand operation on Eid-ul-Azha. In this regard, a ceremony will be held at the tehsil level across Punjab in which the workers will be invited. This decision was taken during a meeting that was chaired by Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq on Friday. Punjab Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian, Special Secretary Asia Gul, Additional Secretary Ahmer Kaifi, Deputy Commissioners and chief officers of municipal bodies were also present. The Minister said that instead of calling all the workers on the same day, if necessary, the reward money can be distributed among the remaining people on the next day. He said the Chief Minister had announced the reward of Rs 10,000 each for over 100,000 workers who worked hard and with commitment during the hot weather on the Eid days. 'The workers worked hard during the scorching sun, and thus we saw exemplary cleanliness on Eid-ul-Azha. Hence, the Punjab government announced the reward to recognise the hard work put in by the workers,' he added. He directed the officials concerned to invite elected representatives to the ceremonies, observing that public representatives also played a full role in the awareness campaign during the grand operation. On this occasion, the Secretary said that bank drafts will be transparently given to the workers, adding that no worker of the Clean Punjab Programme should be deprived of the prize money.
