Local fire deptartment gets new $715K truck
POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Western Reserve Joint Fire District welcomed a new fire truck to its fleet. The new truck, a 2025 Sutphen Pumper, took three years to build. It pumps about 1,500 gallons of water per minute and can carry an additional 1,000. The new truck cost about $715,000. Fire Officials say they've been saving money over the last several years to pull off the purchase. It replaces an older engine that was getting difficult to service and find parts for. 'The biggest thing was that our old vehicle was a 1997. It's just a matter of getting parts. This is much more reliable and much more efficient. It will help us serve the community in a more practical way,' said Chief David Comstock Fire officials say they plan to sell the engine to another department. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
