The Summer I Turned Pretty: Love Blooms (and Taylor Swift Plays) in New Season 3 Trailer
The Summer I Turned Pretty will end… this summer. The third and final, 11-episode season of Prime Video's YA series will premiere Wednesday, July 16. (A specific release pattern was not made immediately available, because that'd be too easy.) More from TVLine Jesse Williams' Amazon Action-Drama Sets Release Date - Also, Watch a Trailer for Hotel Costiera Casting News: Outlander Star Joins The Forsytes, Rings of Power Adds Trio and More Save the Dates: Brett Goldstein's Apple Movie, Hallmark's Christmas at Sea and More A farewell poster (below) has also been released, and on Wednesday, the streamer unveiled a new trailer for the final episodes, which continues the show's tradition of using Taylor Swift songs to illustrate the Conrad/Belly/Jeremiah love triangle. This time, it's 'Daylight' and 'Red (Taylor's Version).' You can watch it above. The series, based on creator/showrunner Jenny Han's book trilogy, revolves around the love triangle between 16-year-old Isabel 'Belly' Conklin (played by Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, broody Conrad (Christopher Briney) and easygoing Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), with whom Belly has grown up. The upcoming season will chronicle the events of Han's third (and final) book, We'll Always Have Summer. In the Season 2 finale, which dropped August 18, 2023, Belly released Conrad from her heart and began a relationship with Jeremiah. Reflecting on Belly decision, star Lola Tung told TVLine, 'I think that her choice made sense for her in the moment. She's been through a lot with both of them, and I think she's realized that, at that time, Conrad has not shown her that he will ever be willing to fight for that relationship as much as she will. 'Here's Jeremiah, ready to fight for her, continuing to fight for her, just proving, I think, constantly how much he loves her and cares about her, even in watching her be with Conrad for so long,' Tung continued, adding that Jeremiah 'is the person that she is falling in love with' at the moment. In Season 3, 'it's the end of her junior year of college, and Belly's looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah,' reads the official synopsis. 'Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same…' As for whether fans can expect the final season to follow the last book and end with [spoiler], 'there are going to be surprises,' Han told Entertainment Weekly. 'There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them.' Does Steven Die In ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3?!
Summer just isn't the same without new episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and thankfully after a year-long hiatus, the beloved Prime Video series is returning for its highly-anticipated final season. Per Prime Video, Season 3's official synopsis is as follows: 'It's the end of her junior year of college, and Belly's looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah. Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same…' Since The Summer I Turned Pretty's Season 3 trailer dropped on Wednesday, June 11, superfans of Jenny Han's bestselling book series and the show it inspired have been parsing the nearly three-minute tease of the season for clues about what's in store. Beyond the Belly (Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Christopher Briney) of it all, however, viewers are deeply concerned about the fate of another iconic character: Belly's brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman). Several Season 3 trailer scenes have fans wondering 'Does Steven die in The Summer I Turned Pretty?! Could that potentially be one of the 'core-shaking events' that brings Conrad back into the picture? Say it ain't so! While we'll ultimately have to wait and see what Han has in store for the fan-favorite character, here's what we know about Steven's fate in The Summer I Turned Pretty books and TV show ahead of Season 3's premiere. The Summer I Turned Pretty's Season 3 trailer (located at the top of this article) gives fans a glimpse at Belly and Jeremiah's love story, college years, and wedding aspirations. It shows Belly and Conrad reuniting, with Belly's voiceover admitting that everywhere she goes, there's always a memory of him. And it also shows Jer punching his brother and confronting Belly about Conrad's feelings for her… As the sacred Jenny Han texts foretold, romance, love triangle drama, and conflicts between Belly and her boys lies ahead. And naturally, we were expecting that! What we weren't expecting, however, were brief clips that appear to show Steven dropping Taylor off, driving away, getting in a car accident in front of her, and then Taylor sobbing by the side of a hospital bed. WHAT?! Needless to say, fans were SHOOK. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kaufman warned,'If the final season was an ice cream flavor for Steven and Taylor, it'd be Rocky Road.' So, uh, things don't sound great! Does Steven die in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?! I genuinely have no idea! This is the final season of the series and Jenny Han and that cast are vaults, people! But the synopsis did tease several 'core-shaking events,' so until we learn if Steven survives his crash or not, we'll be listening to Taylor Swift's 'Out of the Woods.' Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty book series who've read Book 3, We'll Always Have Summer, were especially shocked to see Steven's car crash and Taylor crying in the Season 3 trailer, because those scenes aren't in the text. In the books, while Steven and Taylor don't have the same epic romance they do in the series, Steven lives! Per Han, however, Season 3 twists like Steven's car crash are to be expected… When speaking with EW, Han explained, 'There are definitely changes… There are surprises. And there are things that aren't exactly like the books.' Even if Steven and Taylor hit a rocky road, here's hoping that Han doesn't take drastic measures and kill him off in Season 3. We can't say goodbye to another beloved character on this show! The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 premieres July 16 on Prime Video.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is returning for its third and final season in July. As fans wait for the official trailer to drop, read on to learn everything to know (so far) about the bittersweet ending to the fan-favorite series. Based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, Prime Video's coming-of-age drama follows the love triangle between teenager Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Han, who also serves as the series' showrunner, teased to Entertainment Weekly that every one of the characters will be put through the wringer at some point in Season 3. 'They all had very emotional scenes. And [the actors] In Season 2, viewers saw flashbacks about what had happened in the past year, including that Susannah had lost her battle with cancer and Conrad and Belly had broken up. Belly and Jeremiah, who weren't necessarily on good terms, reconnected after they learned that Conrad had gone missing from college. They tracked him down at Cousins Beach, where he was trying to save the beach house from being sold. Conrad and Jeremiah eventually find a way to keep the house in the family and preserve the home and their memories of their mom. As for Belly, her relationship rekindles with Jeremiah, but things become more complicated after Conrad admits he still has feelings for her. Belly ultimately chooses to be with Jeremiah, and she begins to heal from a depression that has lingered for months following Susannah's death. However, in Season 3, Jeremiah and Belly's romance isn't as perfect as it may appear from the outside, Han teased to EW. "A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken," she said. 'Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there's no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone's going to be hurt by it.' ‘Summer I Turned Pretty' Cast's Hints About Possible Love Triangle Outcome and Season 3 Changes
The Summer I Turned Pretty cast is just as invested in the love triangle outcome as fans are — but what have they said about potential changes to the endgame relationship? Prime Video's hit series, which debuted in June 2022, is based on a book series of the same name by showrunner Jenny Han. The Summer I Turned Pretty focuses on Belly (Lola Tung) who gets caught up in a love triangle where after exploring her feelings for Conrad (Christopher Briney), she starts to reconsider whether his brother, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), is her perfect match. In the original book trilogy, Belly made her final choice in We'll Always Have Summer, which will presumably inspire the third season of the show. Fans, however, have questioned whether the story will follow the events of the book series or whether there will be changes. Han hasn't given much information away except to confirm that the final season will raise the stakes, writing via Instagram in December 2024, 'One thing I'll say about season 3 of [The Summer I Turned Pretty] ... there are no filler episodes.' Which 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Characters Are — and Aren't — Returning for the 3rd and Final Season There seem to be plans to expand the Summer I Turned Pretty universe — no matter the outcome. "I will say stay tuned, but Jenny's got some exciting surprises. So we're thrilled about a season 3, and she's got a vision for more," Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, told Deadline in September 2023. "This show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny's got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we're already hard at work developing complementary pieces.' Keep scrolling for everything the cast has said about whether Belly will choose Conrad or Jeremiah: "I do feel like there's a strong chance that that's a possibility," he exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023 about the show potentially straying from the original events in the books. "Obviously, I know where [my character Jeremiah] ends up going and what ends up happening. But I don't emphasize on that. Because I think Jenny writes it so well that I'm able to kind of get there naturally without having to force it in a certain direction." After season 1 debuted on Prime Video, Han hinted that her vision for the show may not mirror the events in the books. "I really had to weigh what the fans are expecting with where the show is going creatively and find that balance," she told Variety in June 2022. "My priority has always been that I want fans of the book to feel really satisfied by the story we're telling, but also for them to know that this is an adaptation in a new medium, so it's not going to be exactly the same. I think those are sort of the two things that are always in my head. Han added: "I don't want to spoil too much but the books have been out for a while. You never know what could happen with the show. I was open minded going into it. I was considering a lot of different possibilities." More recently, Han teased that changes were coming, telling Entertainment Weekly in March 2025, "There are going to be surprises. There are the things that [book fans] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them." Two months later, Han told the outlet there would be a 'satisfying' ending for everyone. 'A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken," Han hinted. 'Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there's no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone's going to be hurt by it.' 6 Book Moments We Want on 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 — Including Those Belly and Conrad Scenes The actress showed support for onscreen shakeups. "The one thing I've always admired about Jenny is that every season and every decision about what's coming next is purely to serve the story," she explained to EW that same month. "She's never going to do anything that doesn't make sense for the story." Tung continued: "It's all about this beautiful world she's created and giving the fans something really, really special and giving us something really special to work with." Briney hasn't revealed who Belly could choose — but he has some thoughts on the back and forth. 'It's all unreal expectations. It's all ridiculous," he told InStyle in January 2024 before weighing in on Conrad story lines, "You're not going to go to Stanford. You're not going to go to a beach town every summer and fall in love with your mom's friend's f***ing whatever. It's not going to happen. It's stupid. That's not how life works.'
