Iconic sled from ‘Citizen Kane,' whip from ‘Indiana Jones' and hat from ‘Home Alone' hit auction block

Rosebud's sliding onto the auction block. The childhood sled that prompted the most iconic word uttered in the legendary film 'Citizen Kane' goes up for auction next month — along with more cherished movie set props. The Tinseltown treasures include Kevin McCallister's knit cap from 'Home Alone,' a lightsaber brandished in 'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' and a whip wielded in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,' according to Heritage Auctions. 'These aren't just props. They're mythic objects,' said Joe Maddalena, the firm's vice president. 'They tell the story of Hollywood's greatest moments, one piece at a time.' 4 Iconic movie props from 'Citizen Kane,' 'Home Alone' and 'Indiana Jones' will hit the auction block next month. AP The groovy blue velvet suit worn by Mike Myers' Austin Powers in the 2002 screwball comedy sequel 'Goldmember' is also among the haul, which hits the auction block July 15-19. It also includes Luke Skywalker's X-Wing from 'Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back' and original art for 'Apocalypse Now.' But the biggest score for some movie buffs may be the sled featured in 'Citizen Kane,' which is widely considered the greatest movie of all time. 4 The knit cap worn by Macaulay Culkin's character Kevin McCallister in 'Home Alone' is for sale. In Orson Welles' groundbreaking 1941 film, media mogul Charles Foster Kane mysteriously utters the word 'Rosebud' on his deathbed, setting off the story's central question. 4 The sled, named Rosebud, from 'Citizen Kane' is for sale. Courtesy Everett Collection 4 The whip brandished by Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones' will go up for auction. ©Paramount/Courtesy Everett Collection Viewers later learn 'Rosebud' is the name of his beloved childhood sled — and a symbol of the powerful character's lost innocence. The long-lost sled that's up for auction is one of three of the props known to have survived, the auction firm said. It's currently owned by 'Gremlins' director Joe Dante, who found it while filming on the former RKO Pictures lot in 1984. The sled's estimated value wasn't immediately clear — but one of the three props was sold to director Steven Spielberg for $60,500 at a Sotheby's auction in 1982, The New York Times reported that year. Meanwhile, the whip — cracked by Harrison Ford playing the titular character in 'Indiana Jones' — was given to Prince Charles by the actor at the 1989 premiere of 'The Last Crusade' in the UK. Also for sale is the retro Citroën 2CV car driven by Roger Moore playing James Bond in 'For Your Eyes Only,' along with artifacts from the collection of famed director Cecil B. DeMille. ‘Andor' star Genevieve O'Reilly on her unlikely two-decade Mon Mothma journey: ‘I've closed the circle on her'

Andor actress Genevieve O'Reilly's Star Wars journey has been longer and more circuitous than most actors in the franchise, but what a payoff she received. The ethereal Rebel leader Mon Mothma was originally portrayed by actress Caroline Blakiston in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Though her appearance lasted less than 30 seconds, the character quickly became an iconic part of Star Wars lore. O'Reilly later stepped into the role in her 20s for Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith — a brief appearance as well, but one that laid the groundwork for her deeper involvement in the franchise later on. More from GoldDerby Tramell Tillman could make Emmy history as the first Black Best Drama Supporting Actor winner Kristen Kish dishes on Season 22 of 'Top Chef,' Emmys, and the show's global impact: 'It's all driven by the fans' Patricia Arquette's 'Severance' character talks like that because 'she thinks that's what power sounds like' Much to her surprise, O'Reilly returned to the franchise as Mon Mothma just over a decade later in a slightly more fleshed-out role for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, accompanied by turns voicing the character for the animated series Star Wars Rebels. But those brief stints were just the amuse bouche for the gourmet feast that awaited the actress as Mon Mothma moved to the head of the table for Andor. The Chandrilan senator was given a sweeping backstory loaded with all the gravitas, sacrifice and subterfuge one could expect of an emerging Rebel hero; meanwhile O'Reilly was given her own epic opus as an actress. Attending an FYC event for the Disney+ series at the Writers Guild of America Theater in Beverly Hills, O'Reilly joined Gold Derby to reflect on her wildly unexpected two-decade tour of duty in the Rebellion (which has also continued forward in Ahsoka), including the challenging moments that tested her commitment as much as her character's. Lucasfilm/Disney Gold Derby: Is it too soon to lobby for a Mon Mothma series? From the end of this show to the end of , there's a lot of potential story still in there for her. Genevieve O'Reilly: I bet! Would you be excited if the right call came to pick this character up yet again? I mean, do you know what? It's been such a gift of a surprise for me to come back — and back — and Andor has been revelatory for me in regard to this woman. So, always! If we could go further, I don't know if that's possible because of what Andor has achieved, it's just extraordinary. But yes. You've participated in a lot of different projects. What did that mean to you to of be a part of what may be a whole new direction for a certain type of film or series? I can only speak from my perspective to the writing, to Tony [Gilroy] and all those writers and what they achieved, in regard to a depth of character, the depth of interaction. And I think something that Season 2 really achieved was by jumping that year every three episodes it allowed for a real specificity of character, a real specificity of this moment and who this is, which allowed for kind of big swings — swings of character. So that was really interesting to me, that you didn't have to carry the audience with you from one moment to the next. You could drop in and just reveal something quite different. Did you have any unanswered questions about Mon Mothma at the end of this, or are you pretty satisfied with what you do understand about her? I remember something when I started this so long ago, that there was something in Caroline Blakiston's performance [in Return of the Jedi] that I was really curious about, and what that pain was at the center of her. And I was always seeking that. And I feel like at the end of Andor I've kind of closed the circle on her. I understand her pain. I understand that personal trauma and that personal relationship to sacrifice the Rebellion much more. Tell me about when you got that very first call to pick up this character all those years ago, what your reaction was then? And now, when you're become truly the custodian of that character after all this time and really been the one who got to play the things that deepened her and filled out her mythology. Can you compare and contrast those moments? There're three big moments for me, actually. The first one was just getting that role when I was a very young actor and just being wide-eyed and just it was so extraordinary to step onto those sets and be a tiny part of that. The real interesting moment for me was when they called me to ask me to do Rogue One, because that was 10 years later. So much had happened in that time. They didn't have to ring. They didn't have to ask me, do you know what I mean? They kind of could have reached out to anyone at that point and that felt special. So I thought, 'OK, maybe I have something to offer here.' And then when Tony rang in regard to Andor, I mean he's such an extraordinary writer. He had such a vision for the piece and he really wanted to allow space for her to have a proper story, to have story time, narrative time, rather than just be an expositional force, which she was previously. What was the most challenging but perhaps the most gratifying day of work on for you? Yeah, that was the speech. Mon's speech. It took a day and it was extraordinary and that was so important to me. It was so important to me. I felt it was the fulcrum of who she is, really the center. I thought that everything else makes sense if she can land that, it was a real gift that he gave to me and trusted me with and, yeah, I brought everything I could to it. And I'm sure, too, the dance. The dance is her transition — now she's . There's blood in her hands at that point. And being able to release her physically was just everything, because it is a lens into character. And we'd never seen her move, we'd never really seen her outside of that calm that she has. So to be able to expose that trauma, that chaos, physically was so wonderful. Yeah, revelatory, I hope, for the audience, and also for me as an actor. May the 4th be with you: The best Star Wars Day 2025 deals and new products

My favorite unofficial holiday is almost here! May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, is a celebration of all things from a galaxy far, far away. As an editor who has been fawning over Star Wars for nearly her entire life, I am so excited to be rounding up all the best deals and new product launches, many of which I will be shopping myself. This year's Star Wars Day is extra special because it coincides with the 20th anniversary of 2005's 'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.' It's my favorite flick from the franchise, so these deals may be a bit biased to include some Episode III offerings. But even if you prefer the Original Trilogy, one thing you can count on is that these are the best May the 4th deals to shop this year. Ahead of May 4, many of the deals and new launches are already live. There's sure to be more this weekend, but you can get a head start now. I'll update this story for the next several days, so keep checking back for the latest offers. Take it from one Star Wars fan to another and dive in, below. Retailers including Amazon, Lego, Target and Walmart are getting in on the Star Wars Day action. If you're looking for all the different sales in one place, these are the best. Before I dive into different categories, this is the perfect starting point to save or check out what's new for 2025. Amazon Star Wars Day Sale Save on everything from DVDs to electronic lightsabers and so much more. Amazon also has many of the new product launches for May the 4th on its digital shelves. Lego Star Wars Day Sale Lego has a collection of new sets out today and is also running a double reward points promotion on top of offering cash discounts on older kits. Save on X-Wings, Clone troopers and more. Target Star Wars Day Sale Deals and new product launches are live at Target for Star Wars Day. Save through the end of the weekend on home decor, apparel and so much more. Walmart Star Wars Day Sale Toys, collectibles and apparel are all on sale through the weekend. Many of the new product launches for May the 4th can also be found at Walmart. Each time I get on a video call with a new coworker, we always spend the first half hour talking about every little collectible stationed on the massive shelf behind me, especially the majority that are Lego Star Wars kits. Luckily, the biggest sale of the year on Lego kits from the Star Wars universe is live for May the 4th. Below, you'll find deals on many of the sets I own. Lego dealsLego Buildable R2-D2 Astromech Droid Set R2-D2 may just be the most recognizable robot in all of sci-fi. Build your own version of the astromech droid at its second-best price yet. Today's offer is within $2 of the all-time low. Lego Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon This Lego set is anything but a hunk of junk. This scaled-down starfighter is the perfect build to rest on your desk for showing off some Star Wars fandom. Lego Arc-170 Starfighter I bought this set back in January when it launched, and now it's on sale for the first time. It's one of my favorite ships in the Star Wars universe and makes for a great Lego build. Lego The Mandalorian Helmet Lego's buildable helmet series assemble display-worthy builds, and this chromed kit of The Mandalorian is no exception. It rests on a black base with a name plate for adding to your collection or displaying on its own. Lego Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter Lego is releasing a new version of Jango Fett's ship, and this discounted Jedi Starfighter goes perfectly with it. Save 20% while adding to your "Attack of the Clones" collection. Lego Midi-Scale Tantive IV Another entry in Lego's Midi-Scale collection, this ship lets you bring a piece of the opening scene of "A New Hope" to anywhere that could use a little extra fun. Lego 'A New Hope' Boarding The Tantive IV Speaking of the Tantive IV, this diorama-style kit stacks up to recreate the tense scene that introduced the world to Darth Vader. Lego Ahsoka's Jedi Interceptor Set I recently picked this set up when it first hit store shelves in January. While I have many of the kits in this guide, there's a special place in my heart (and my collection) for these Jedi Interceptors inspired by "Revenge of the Sith." New Lego kitsLego UCS Jango Fett's Starship Set Each spring, Lego launches a massive new kit from the Star Wars universe for May the 4th as part of its Ultimate Collector Series (UCS). This year's is the first recreation of Jango Fett's ship since all the way back in 2022. I'll be buying this kit for myself. Lego Buildable Chopper Astromech Droid Set To go alongside the discounted R2-D2 listed earlier in this guide, the buildable Lego Chopper is hitting the scene for the first time this Star Wars Day. Lego Rebel U-Wing Starfighter Set I am obsessed with "Andor" right now, and this set gives builders a chance to assemble the titular rebel alongside some other all-new minifigures. K-2SO is also back in Lego form for the first time in ages. Lego Revenge of the Sith Heroes & Villains BrickHeadz Another Lego tradition for May the 4th, the company launches a pack of BrickHeadz themed around a certain film in the franchise. This year, "Revenge of the Sith" is getting some love with five brick-built recreations of the movie's heroes and villains. Lego Buildable K-2SO Security Droid On top of his minifigure appearance in the U-Wing set, K-2SO is also getting a buildable character kit. This one is roughly the same scale as R2 and Chopper, so all three will look great on display next to each other. Lego Jango Fett Helmet Lego's helmet series make great display pieces, and this Jango Fett version is no exception. Find it at Lego, Amazon and Target. Lego Brick-Built Star Wars Logo This might be the most odd Lego set we've seen in ages, but there's certainly some charm to a brick-built Star Wars logo. I won't spoil the fun, but there's a reference to "A New Hope" to be discovered as part of the assembly process. Lego Kylo Ren Helmet It's rare to get a Lego Star Wars set from the Sequel Trilogy. But for May the 4th and the tenth anniversary of "A Force Awakens," this new Kylo Ren helmet is hitting store shelves. Toy and collectible dealsHasbro Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite Lightsaber Hasbro makes some of the best props for Star Wars fans with its Force FX series. The iconic weapon of Luke Skywalker in "Return of the Jedi," this recreation of the hero's saber features a light-up blade, battle sounds and light effects to ensure you're ready to take down the Emperor. Hasbro The Black Series The Mandalorian Helmet This (deal) is the way to save for May the 4th. The wearable helmet has a chrome finish to imitate the Beskar armor it's based on and looks great on display if you won't plan on recreating scenes from "The Mandalorian." May the 4th Funko Pop! Sale Funko Pop! vinyl figures cover practically every character from the Skywalker Saga. Now, over 100 figures are included in the brand's buy two, get one free sale. New toys and collectiblesHasbro The Black Series 501st Legion Clone Trooper Helmet This electronic helmet is just as cool to wear as it is put up on your shelf. It features sound effects inspired by the Prequel Trilogy and "The Clone Wars" series, alongside a slick blue paint scheme. Hot Toys Sixth Scale K-2SO I have a few Hot Toys in my collection, and they're some of the coolest figures you can buy. This year's Star Wars Day event introduces a new K-2SO to celebrate May the 4th. Whether you're looking to buy physical copies of the Skywalker Saga or dive into one of the latest Star Wars video games, there are deals to shop. I also found quite a few new product releases in the world of tech, including droid-inspired iPhone 16 cases, earbuds and an Echo Dot stand. DealsStar Wars: A New Hope Blu-ray If you still don't have a copy of the original Star Wars film in your collection, this deal is for you. We're big fans of physical media here at CNN Underscored, mostly because of just how much better 4K Blu-rays look than versions on streaming services. Star Wars Outlaws Star Wars Outlaws lets you live out your intergalactic smuggling fantasies in a vast open world. If you have yet to dive into the digital hub of scum and villainy, now is your chance. Read our review Star Wars: Andor — The Complete First Season Blu-ray You can come argue with me on social media, but "Andor" is the best Star Wars project in decades. This Blu-ray copy of the first season is nearly half off for May the 4th. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor We called Jedi: Survivor the best Star Wars game in decades. Now, it's seeing a massive discount for May the 4th. Read our review New releasesCasetify R2-D2 iPhone 16 Case Casetify launches a new Star Wars case collection every year. For 2025, we're getting some designs themed around droids like R2-D2. Pricing starts at $64 and can be customized to all of Apple's latest smartphones. Amazon TIE Fighter Stand Echo Dot Stand Do you have an Amazon Echo Dot? Dress up the smart speaker like an Imperial TIE Fighter with this themed stand. It works with 4th and 5th Generation Echos. Audio-Technica The Mandalorian Earbuds Audio-Technica does more than just make some of our favorite audio gear. It also makes fun collaboration products, like these true wireless earbuds themed around The Mandalorian. Casetify C-3PO iPhone 16 Case C-3PO is also getting some love with the new Casetify lineup. This case also comes in different versions to fit with Apple's newest iPhone 16 devices, but also has the option for a chromed finish to really exhibit the Protocol droid vibes from the franchise. Backpacks, baseball jerseys and watches are just some of the Star Wars Day offerings to shop this year. I expect to see more deals trickle in through the weekend as May the 4th gets closer, but there are still some notable discounts to peruse ahead of time. DealsCitizen Eco-Drive Star Wars The Mandalorian Watch Clip the on-page coupon to score a new all-time low price on this Mandalorian-inspired timepiece from Citizen. The black stainless steel casing is reminiscent of the bounty hunter's Beskar armor. Star Wars T-Shirts Amazon has tons of official Star Wars T-shirts on sale for May the 4th. Pricing starts from $20 and includes quite a few styles. I love the retro vibes on this vintage Mandalorian tee, but there are also tons of other looks on sale. Star Wars X RockLove Yoda Kyber Crystal Necklace RockLove makes some of the best jewelry for geeks. Quite a few of these Kyber Crystal necklaces are on sale right now, but this green one really pops. New releasesHoth Echo Base Baseball Jersey I picked up one of these jerseys and am shocked by how good the quality is. It feels like an official jersey from the MLB shop. The sizing is a little big, so I would order a size down from what you'd normally wear. Vera Bradley Star Wars Bancroft Backpack My fellow deals expert at CNN Underscored, Elena Matarazzo, has been a fan of Vera Bradley since her elementary school days and loves the brand's lightweight and machine-washable bags. So, I had to include its new Star Wars backpack. BaubleBar Grogu Ring Set Most of my colleagues love BaubleBar, and the company is now launching something that is getting me on board with its jewelry. This adorable ring set comes with four interlocking rings that deck out your finger with Grogu. Heroes and Villains The Mandalorian Tee Heroes and Villains makes some of the best Star Wars apparel. Now for May the 4th, the brand has a collection of Western-inspired shirts featuring various bounty hunters like Mando. Boba Fett Baseball Jersey If you prefer the outlaw vibes of everyone's favorite bounty hunter, this Boba Fett jersey has the same quality build as the Hoth counterpart I own. The sizing is a little big, so I would order a size down from what you'd normally wear. Loungefly Hoth Mini Backpack Loungefly bags are super popular across all fandoms, but this Hoth-inspired backpack is just for fans of "The Empire Strikes Back." I love the light blue color scheme and the prominent AT-AT design on the lower pocket. There are always some Star Wars deals floating around the web, but it's not every day that this many discounts are live at once. May the 4th, being Star Wars Day, is the best chance to save on everything from toys and collectibles to apparel, DVDs and more. Odds are, if a product is inspired by the Millennium Falcon or comes outfitted with an Imperial logo, it's on sale today. Our senior deals editor Rikka Altland has been enjoying Star Wars since before she could form full sentences. If you're looking for deals and new product launches that are curated by a true fan, then there's no better place on the web to shop. Her home is filled with Lego starfighters, light-up lightsabers and an assortment of Astromech droids. She even has a Star Wars tattoo of Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair and the rest of the Bad Batch members. Altland combines that passion for the sci-fi franchise with her decade of experience hunting for deals. She has worked in the service journalism industry for nearly a decade and regularly reviews tech for a living, frequently collaborating with CNN Underscored's team of testing experts.

‘Sinners' Wins Weekend Box Office In Stunning 10% Drop And $45 Million

It's another expectation-shattering performance for writer-director Ryan Coogler's Sinners, as the film dominates the domestic weekend box office with a stunning 10% drop from last weekend and nearly $45 million in receipts. Michael B. Jordan stars in "Sinners." Source: Warner Michael B. Jordan does double-duty in lead roles as twin brothers in Coogler's original horror-action blockbuster. Can we call Sinners a blockbuster yet? We sure can, with these types of overperformances and record-breaking holds, it should land around $170 million worldwide – with an impressive $120+ million domestic – if not higher by close of business Sunday, and I'm probably being conservative in these estimates at this point. I won't be shocked at all if the film beats even today's impressive estimates both domestically and internationally. It is entirely possible at this point that we could see a final cume of around $180 million when the dust settles. Alternately, if Sinners' must-see foot traffic is front-loaded, it might wind up settling closer to $165-170 million range. We need to see how much the positive word-of-mouth and reviews, combined with news of box office overperformance, drives international viewership this weekend. Meanwhile, runner-up The Accountant 2 is enjoying $25 million at the higher end of estimates and tops the original film's debut, in a tale of sinners turned saints who use their extraordinary brotherly killing abilities for good. Bad-a__ brothers facing overwhelming odds in an original action-driven moderately-budgeted story? Yes please, say audiences remembering why they love going to the movies. Yet despite Sinners taking such a huge lead for the weekend, and The Accountant 2 offering up a high-end outcome, the other weekend top contenders didn't suffer as a result after all. The Minecraft Movie is still on course for north of $20 million, while Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith appears poised to take third place with $22 million. The return of Star Wars to the big screen, just as Andor season 2 arrives on Disney+ with historic critical acclaim and amid a 'rising tide lifts all boats' situation in theaters proves to be a nice bonus for Disney, ahead of their summer tentpoles and in the aftermath of Captain America: Brave New World's disappointing $414 million result. Sinners seems to have stirred so much audience interest and passion at just the right time, when Minecraft was generating buzz and turnout typical of a summer IP release and warming weather. School vacations and a dearth of much else to be enthusiastic about in the world lately – economics, politics, climate, you name it and we've got it turned up to 11 these days – makes the escapism of cinema much more appealing. That the multiplexes are also seeing less inflationary pressure on ticket prices compared to other entertainment options makes theaters the relatively less expensive go-to option these days, especially with streaming costs themselves rising and driving home entertainment costs high enough that cinemas are no longer being out-priced. But none of that matters without Sinners being an exceptional film that delivers powerfully on the promise of its premise, with a terrific cast led by Jordan's star power and Coogler's directorial fame. The deeper themes about race and history and culture, as well as the sheer terror and excitement, all feed audiences craving to confront our demons and fears, but in a safe imaginary setting – all the more important when those fears increasingly stalk the daytime for so many people. What's happening isn't merely a convenient convergence of external factors and motivators, but specifically that art is calling out to the public the way it always does during important moments in history and during shared times of struggle and uncertainty and change. Sinners is the movie we needed, when we needed it. That's what happened. It spoke to something important and powerful within people everywhere, and that message is spreading so much that people are flocking to see it. So I think the combination of Sinners and The Minecraft Movie has helped buoy cinema higher and is driving traffic to other films as well. Which isn't just good news for the close of spring at the multiplexes, but great news heading into summer. 2025 was destined to be a weak year at the box office, and a lot of major projects were pulled from the release schedule or shuffled to safer calendar dates. But now, with a nice bit of positive momentum heading into the opening salvo of summer from Marvel with Thunderbolts*, and with some heavy-hitters waiting to take flight in coming weeks and months, spring's Sinner sanctuary could also wind up helping summer's salvation. Sinners and the rest of this weekend's top performers will soon face tough competition when Thunderbolts* arrives next weekend to kick off the summer movie season. But if this weekend is any indication, we should expect Thunderbolts* to play at the better end of expectations while Sinners and The Accountant hold strong, Minecraft enjoys a soft fall, and attendance helps turn the first week of summer 2025 into a healthy one for the box office. Studios could all use that sort of good news, and good omens for the rest of summer movie season. Fingers crossed!
