Gordon Ramsay reveals the 'scary' moment he passed out while cradling son Oscar just moments after his birth and admits 'my wife didn't want me in there'

Gordon Ramsay has revealed the dramatic moment he fainted in the delivery room during the birth of his son Oscar. The celebrity chef, 58, wasn't present for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, and Tilly, 23 - as his wife Tana, 50, insisted he stayed out of the delivery room. She didn't want him to see her in labour or experience the raw reality of childbirth firsthand. However, in 2019, Gordon was by her side for the arrival of their son Oscar, now six, delivered via C-section. Yet what was meant to be a joyful moment - with Ed Sheeran 's music playing in the background - took a chaotic turn when the chef fainted while cradling his newborn son. Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: 'Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. 'First of all, she said, "I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there." That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. 'When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air. 'He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on. 'They said, "What do you want to listen to?" So I said, "Can you play Ed Sheeran?" So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere. 'They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, "Woah, woah, s***." I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot.' Gordon and his wife Tana went on to welcome their sixth child in November 2023. At the time, he posted a heartwarming photo of himself kissing his newborn on the head as Tana cradled him in her arms. Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Gordon said the birth was an 'amazing birthday present', as his birthday is on November 8. He wrote: 'What an amazing birthday present please welcome Jesse James Ramsay, 7lbs 10oz whopper!! One more bundle of love to the Ramsay brigade!! 3 boys, 3 girls…. Done.' Tana also shared her own post, saying the Ramsay family had been 'blessed' with their new arrival. She wrote: 'It's been a nerve wracking 9 months but we've made it and we have been blessed with this little bundle. Ramsay family definitely complete. Jesse James Ramsay we love you so much ❤️'. The couple, who married in 1996, kept Tana's latest pregnancy a secret. However, back in September, Gordon admitted he was under pressure from Tana to have a sixth child but said he was against the idea. Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on the Dish podcast, Gordon confessed: 'I've got a little secret… Tana wants another one.' But he admitted that he is reluctant to have another baby, saying the family would need 'two buses' and that he would be older than the other parents at school. He said: 'It's like going to school, going out for dinner in two buses. And secondly, I'm going to be the oldest f***er at school. "Who's your grandad?" 'And what about sports day? The egg and spoon race. What am I going to do? So, I'd love another one, but no.' Gordon also spoke about how his youngest child, Oscar, is quickly following in his father's footsteps after complaining about the food at his school during his first week. He said: 'He didn't want to wear his blazer. He said, "Dad, it's too f***ing itchy." And he said, "the food's s***". 'I said, son, BYO. He said, "what does that mean?" I said, "bring your f***ing own." So he's got his own lunchbox, it's all prepped, he's got his finger sandwiches.' Despite being unwilling to grow his brood, Gordon admitted that his fathering skills have improved with each kid. He explained: 'Everything you did wrong first time round, you do so much better. He's growing up at such a rate of knots. He's like a little adult at four because he's got four big siblings that he answers to.' Gordon admitted during the coronavirus pandemic that Tana was keen to expand their family, wanting to use the opportunity of lockdown to start trying. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, he said: 'Literally two hours ago our prime minister has announced we are in lockdown now until the frigging 15th of February.

Ed Sheeran caused Gordon Ramsay to 'collapse like a wimp' as his wife gave birth

Gordon Ramsay fainted in the delivery room when his son Oscar was born, despite his wife Tana banning him from being present at the births of their first four children TV chef Gordon Ramsay fainted during the birth of his son as Ed Sheeran 's tunes serenaded the delivery room. The 58-year-old culinary star, who had previously been absent from the birthing room for his older children Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, and Tilly, 23, due to wife Tana Ramsay's wishes, was present for the arrival of their fifth child, Oscar. However, the Kitchen Nightmares icon's elation quickly turned to alarm when he passed out while cradling new-born Oscar, with Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' playing in the background. ‌ On the Smartless podcast, Gordon revealed: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' ‌ "That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air." Gordon has been sharing some intense moments from the delivery room, recounting, "He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on. They said, 'What do you want to listen to?' So I said, 'Can you play Ed Sheeran?' "So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere. They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." The celebrity chef and his wife Tana are basking in the joys of parenthood once more with their little ones Oscar and Jesse James, who joined the family in 2023. Gordon, a three Michelin star culinary maestro, is keen on instilling strong work values in his children, ensuring they understand the importance of hard graft rather than relying on their privileged background. ‌ Proud of his older children's diverse career choices, Gordon does admit to a twinge of disappointment that his daughter Tilly, aspiring to be a chef, opted for training at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School instead of one of his own kitchens. Gordon emphasised the importance of balance in life, saying, "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. "It's a lot easier now, we had four amazing kids and then Tana and I has this crazy idea to go back for more. So there's quite a big gap. Megan, she's our eldest, she's 26, she's an incredible police officer back in London. "Then we have the twins who are 25; Jack is a Royal Marines Commando, Holly is in to her fashion. And then there's Matilda, who is 23, who has just come back from culinary school, would you believe, a beautiful school called Ballymaloe. "I am a little bit miffed that she didn't ask me to train her and she's gone off elsewhere. She's seen the shows, that's the problem! You've got to give them the values, and instil those values, they can't depend on mum and dad."

Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay passed out as Ed Sheeran's music played during son's birth

Gordon Ramsay passed out when his son was born - as Ed Sheeran's songs played in the background. The 58-year-old TV chef was never in the delivery room for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, fraternal twins Jack and Holly, 25, and 23-year-old Tilly - because his wife Tana Ramsay was adamant that she didn't want her husband to see her in the agony of labour, nor witness the realities of child birth. Gordon though was present when his son Oscar, six, came into the world as Tana was having their baby boy via caesarean section. But the Kitchen Nightmares star's moment of joy soon soon became a moment of panic when he feinted whilst holding the newborn, all to the soundtrack of Thinking Out Loud singer Sheeran. Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. "First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." Gordon and Tana - who also have son Jesse James, who was born in 2023 - are enjoying being parents to young children again to Oscar and his younger brother Jesse James, who was born in 2023. The three Michelin star chef has always tried to instil a work ethic in his older four children and not hand them everything on a plate just because they are fortunate enough to have wealthy parents. Gordon is very proud of the varied career paths each of his older children have taken, but he is a little disappointed that his daughter Tilly, who wants to be a chef, decided to be trained at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School rather than at one of her father's restaurants. He said: "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. The 58-year-old Scot owns more than 50 restaurants around the globe, including his three-Michelin-star Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London. He said he also insists that his staff have good personal hygiene because he doesn't want them to put customers off their food. He said: "There is nothing worse than a sweaty fat f**k that comes out of the kitchen and goes to the table and he's got dehydrated skin, a beard that isn't trimmed, he's sweating from the armpits and his fingernails are black. Then he asks you 'How's your lunch?'. "I mean that's the worst question. First of all you should never have sent that food if it wasn't good anyway so don't ask that question and secondly it's a bad advert for the restaurant. "It's just common sense. I hate laziness, I hate slobs, I'm not good at that. "Laziness is the worst thing anyone can bring into any workplace. "When chefs start cutting corners in our business you're screwed, it's the beginning of the end." Speaking on the Smartless podcast, Ramsay also told how he likes to change the staff at his restaurants every three or four years. He said: "It's important to change the staff so they don't get complacent and lazy. Gordon Ramsay reveals customers are using BATHROOMS in new skyscraper restaurant for X-rated acts "I've been a great motivator of planning succession as well. This industry is an absolute bitch and it's notorious for the burnout so when I start to spot that in the team it's important to take a bit of a sabbatical and move them on." We told previously how Scotland best food spot has been crowned at a prestigious industry bash. Lyla in Edinburgh - helmed by a Gordon Ramsay-trained chef - was handed the plaudit from the National Restaurant Awards.

Pete Buttigieg Defends His Reasons for Going on Fox News — but Understands Why More Democrats Don't

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg defended his reasons for continuing to appear on Fox News, but added that he understands why many of his Democratic peers choose not to. 'There's a lot of reasons to hesitate, right? If you're going into a place that you know is not ideologically friendly or not aligned with you, there's reasons to think twice about it and I think a lot of people in my party do,' Buttigieg said during a an interview on Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett's podcast 'Smartless.' In the Monday episode, the trio praised the politician for his intelligence, wit and debating skills. Bateman added that he loved the fact that he makes appearances on conservative news channel Fox, but questioned why other Dems don't. 'My take on it is you can't blame somebody for not embracing your message if they've literally never heard it,' Buttigieg explained. 'And a lot of people will never hear what we have to say if we're only talking to people who are friendly to us.' Throughout the years, Buttigieg has made headlines by breaking down Democratic talking points on the conservative-leaning Fox News on series like 'Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace' and 'Special Report With Bret Baier.' He's also opened up his schedule to podcast spots, like his visit to Andrew Schulz's series 'Flagrant.' He said on 'Smartless' Monday that he's strategically taking bookings on platforms where he knows audiences, particularly younger Americans, receive their news. 'I'm doing more podcasts, more digital stuff, just because I know that's where a lot of people get their information,' Buttiegieg said. 'I've been teaching one day a week at the Institute of Politics in Chicago, at the University of Chicago there, and one of the things I do is I'm always asking my students when we sit down, a lot of times I'll do a show of hands: Where do you get your news? The number of students who raised their hands when I asked how many of them get their news from television was zero. Literally zero.' He continued: 'They might see a clip from TV if it goes into their TikTok feeds or Instagram or something like that, but, you know, I don't think of myself as that much older than them, but I grew up in a world where you watched a TV story about some controversy, you heard the conservative opinion, you heard the liberal opinion, and maybe hearing the other side made you feel the way you feel even more strongly, or maybe it made you change your mind a little bit or ask another question. But the point is, you'd think about it. You'd stop and think about it. And it's very hard for that to happen now the way our media works, so I'm trying to cut through some of those categories.'
