Gordon Ramsay reveals the 'scary' moment he passed out while cradling son Oscar just moments after his birth and admits 'my wife didn't want me in there'
Gordon Ramsay has revealed the dramatic moment he fainted in the delivery room during the birth of his son Oscar.
The celebrity chef, 58, wasn't present for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 25, and Tilly, 23 - as his wife Tana, 50, insisted he stayed out of the delivery room.
She didn't want him to see her in labour or experience the raw reality of childbirth firsthand.
However, in 2019, Gordon was by her side for the arrival of their son Oscar, now six, delivered via C-section.
Yet what was meant to be a joyful moment - with Ed Sheeran 's music playing in the background - took a chaotic turn when the chef fainted while cradling his newborn son.
Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: 'Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there.
'First of all, she said, "I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there." That was her decision and I had to respect that decision.
'When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air.
'He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on.
'They said, "What do you want to listen to?" So I said, "Can you play Ed Sheeran?" So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere.
'They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, "Woah, woah, s***." I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot.'
Gordon and his wife Tana went on to welcome their sixth child in November 2023.
At the time, he posted a heartwarming photo of himself kissing his newborn on the head as Tana cradled him in her arms.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Gordon said the birth was an 'amazing birthday present', as his birthday is on November 8.
He wrote: 'What an amazing birthday present please welcome Jesse James Ramsay, 7lbs 10oz whopper!! One more bundle of love to the Ramsay brigade!! 3 boys, 3 girls…. Done.'
Tana also shared her own post, saying the Ramsay family had been 'blessed' with their new arrival.
She wrote: 'It's been a nerve wracking 9 months but we've made it and we have been blessed with this little bundle. Ramsay family definitely complete. Jesse James Ramsay we love you so much ❤️'.
The couple, who married in 1996, kept Tana's latest pregnancy a secret.
However, back in September, Gordon admitted he was under pressure from Tana to have a sixth child but said he was against the idea.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on the Dish podcast, Gordon confessed: 'I've got a little secret… Tana wants another one.'
But he admitted that he is reluctant to have another baby, saying the family would need 'two buses' and that he would be older than the other parents at school.
He said: 'It's like going to school, going out for dinner in two buses. And secondly, I'm going to be the oldest f***er at school. "Who's your grandad?"
'And what about sports day? The egg and spoon race. What am I going to do? So, I'd love another one, but no.'
Gordon also spoke about how his youngest child, Oscar, is quickly following in his father's footsteps after complaining about the food at his school during his first week.
He said: 'He didn't want to wear his blazer. He said, "Dad, it's too f***ing itchy." And he said, "the food's s***".
'I said, son, BYO. He said, "what does that mean?" I said, "bring your f***ing own." So he's got his own lunchbox, it's all prepped, he's got his finger sandwiches.'
Despite being unwilling to grow his brood, Gordon admitted that his fathering skills have improved with each kid.
He explained: 'Everything you did wrong first time round, you do so much better. He's growing up at such a rate of knots. He's like a little adult at four because he's got four big siblings that he answers to.'
Gordon admitted during the coronavirus pandemic that Tana was keen to expand their family, wanting to use the opportunity of lockdown to start trying.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, he said: 'Literally two hours ago our prime minister has announced we are in lockdown now until the frigging 15th of February.

Musical Evita facing growing controversy after multiple members of the public fall ill
THE latest performance of West End musical Evita is facing a growing controversy. On Thursday evening two ambulances raced to The London Palladium after multiple members of the public fell ill - with one being whisked to hospital. Large crowds of up to 200 people gathered outside the venue for hours to see actress Rachel Zegler, 24, perform Don't Cry For Me Argentina from the balcony. But as the country baked in blistering heat members of the public struggled to cope resulting in emergency services being called just minutes before Rachel was due to belt out the hit. A source said: 'As word spreads more and more people are flocking to the Palladium to see Rachel's performance and it's turning into a bit of a nightmare. 'Crowd control is bad enough on the public street but with the heat it's becoming really dangerous. 'Ambulances were parked outside the venue for almost an hour before racing to the hospital just minutes before Rachel appeared.' A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 8.16pm yesterday to reports of a person unwell in Argyll Street, central London. 'We sent two ambulance crews to the scene. 'While treating the patient, our crews were called to help a second person who was unwell nearby. 'One patient was taken to hospital and the second was given medical advice and discharged at the scene.' Madonna sings Don't Cry For Me Argentina in the 1996 film Evita 1

Time for change: watches that are worn anywhere but the wrist
While most watches today are worn on the wrist, originally they came in the shape of fobs — attached to a waistcoat or uniform by a chain or ribbon — or were hung on pins. Later they were put on wrist straps for convenience, a style that was common after the First World War. Now makers are relegating the telling of time to a secondary function. 'We're seeing watches evolve into expressions of personal style as consumers seek more distinctive accessories,' explains Ben Staniforth, of the pre-owned luxury timepiece retailer Watchfinder & Co. 'Worn on lapels as pendants or integrated into couture, they reflect a trend where fashion meets functionality.' This article contains affiliate links that can earn us revenue Arsham Droplet watch, £76,000, If evidence is needed that this is entering mainstream culture, the actress Jenna Ortega rocking up at A$AP Rocky's Met Gala afterparty last month with an antique men's pocket watch by Heuer (known today as Tag Heuer) from c 1914 dangling from her tuxedo bodysuit should be proof enough. And the high echelons of watchmaking have cottoned on to this trend for self-expression too. Hermès debuted its Maillon Libre brooch watch in April. This gem of a timepiece can be pinned to a lapel or sleeve, or worn around the neck with a leather cord — and is a frontrunner for design ingenuity. Despite its established place in the serious fashion sphere, Chanel also knows how to have fun with its designs. The new Kiss Me necklace appropriately takes the form of the brand's cult lipstick. If that wasn't charmant enough, it slides open to reveal a hidden watch dial. Kiss Me necklace in yellow gold, golden beryls, rhodolites, onyx and diamonds, POA, Sixtie sautoir watch in rose gold, white opals and diamonds, POA, Also restringing its pearls is Piaget, which has taken inspiration from its archival necklace watches from the Sixties: the Sixtie sautoir has a lozenge watch dial as its focal point in a masterful melding of high jewellery and horology. And Hublot's long-standing collaboration with leading artists resulted in the release of a timepiece that sent ripples through the watch world last year. Designed by the visual artist Daniel Arsham, the Droplet is tethered to a chain and cased in sapphire glass, offering a clear view of the moving mechanical parts within. This cute kidney bean of a timepiece is as far removed from your grandad's gold pocket watch as you can get. Van Cleef & Arpels is a dab hand with watches that combine complex engineering with stellar gem setting. At first glance, its padlock-shaped Cadenas might look like a heavy-duty bracelet, but take a closer look and you'll find an angled watch dial set among a dazzling mix of gold, diamonds and sapphires. Panthère hinged bangle watch in yellow gold, lacquer, onyx and diamonds, POA, Sundial watch in steel, £128, Cartier is another high jeweller and watchmaker that excels at combining precious materials with covert details. Its new Panthère has Duchess of Windsor glamour in spades with its big-cat hinged bangle: cast in solid gold and set with precious stones, it also fits in a watch dial, revealed by turning your wrist a few degrees. But the most novel creation is by the young, dynamic German brand Nomos Glashütte. Its sundial watch, which can be worn as a ring or around your neck, has a machined hole that lets a beam of sunlight fall on the engraved numbers to tell the hours. It's useless at night, but it will certainly be a talking point during working hours.
