Ayodhya's Ram Temple Main Construction Work To Be Completed By October; Landscaping By Jan 1

Last Updated: The Ram temple in Ayodhya will be completed by October 31, with its 70-acre compound ready by January 1. Landscaping by GMR starts in November. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai said that the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be completed by October 31, while the temple's 70-acre-wide compound will be ready in its green avatar by January 1 next year. 'The landscaping work of the temple, to be taken up by GMR, is expected to begin in the first week of November," he added. Emphasising that public 'darshan' (viewing) should not be hindered, Rai highlighted the pending works crucial for the security of the temple complex. The pending tasks include constructing the boundary wall, which hasn't started yet. These tasks, along with building the auditorium, restrooms, and Trust office, 'may take another year to complete," he added. Vinod Mehta, project director, Larsen and Toubro construction team, said that all the milestones pertaining to the completion of the temple are going to be achieved by October 31. 'Post that, L&T will start the process of pulling out from the project. Whatever has been defined in our scope of work will be achieved by then. That is what we are targeting at present," said Mehta on Friday. Officials estimate the landscaping work for the Ram temple project will take 6-8 weeks to complete. 'With the help of the latest technology, the land filling and landscaping work should not take a lot of time. And people visiting the temple would be able to enjoy their time in the gardens and green space. The temple trust would chart out which areas are going to be opened for the devotees later," said an officer. The Ram temple construction started following the Supreme Court's 2019 landmark verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute. Hindu litigants had claimed the Babri mosque was built on a temple marking Lord Ram's birthplace. The consecration ceremony was held on January 22 last year. Ayodhya Ram temple's main work to be completed by October, says temple trust

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai on Friday said finishing touches are currently being given to the Ram temple in Ayodhya, marking a crucial stage in its construction. Talking to reporters, Rai confirmed that once this work is complete, all heavy machinery will be taken down. He said the "main work of the temple will be completed by October". Emphasising that public 'darshan' (viewing) should not be hindered, Rai highlighted the pending works crucial for the security of the temple complex. They include the construction of the boundary wall, which has not yet begun. He noted that these tasks, along with the construction of the auditorium, restrooms and the Trust office within the complex "may take another year to be completed". The construction of the Ram temple began after a historic Supreme Court judgment in 2019 on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. The Hindu litigants argued that the Babri mosque was constructed at the site of a temple marking the birthplace of Lord Ram. The consecration ceremony was held on January 22 last year.

Trust opens Ram Darbar for devotees, darshan passes to be issued

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has opened the Ram Darbar for devotees on the first floor of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The Trust took the decision on Friday (June 13), eight days after the pran pratishtha (consecration) of the Ram Darbar on June 5. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had presided over the pran pratishtha ceremony. 'The Trust has started offering darshan of Ram Darbar along with Ram Lalla. This new development allows devotees to pay their respects to both Ram Lalla and the Ram Darbar. To manage the large number of devotees, a quota system has been implemented for darshan passes,' a Trust member said. According to the Trust, 200 passes will be issued – 100 allocated to the district administration and 100 to the Trust. The Trust also stated that 100 Sugam Darshan (easy access) passes will be issued – 50 allocated to the district administration and 50 to the Trust. The Ram Darbar darshan will be available in six time slots: 7-9 am, 9-11 am, 1-3 pm, 3-5 pm, 5-7 pm, and 7-9 pm. Each time slot will have 300 devotees. Devotees need to mention Ram Darbar darshan in their pass application form and the passes will be issued based on availability, the Trust said. The decision to start Ram Darbar darshan was taken after a meeting between the Trust and officials of the Ayodhya administration. Trust member Anil Mishra confirmed the decision was made in the evening. He stated that, similar to the passes offered for Ram Lalla's darshan, passes will also be made available for those wishing to visit the Ram Darbar. The Ram Darbar consists of the idols of Lord Ram and Mata Sita seated on a throne with Hanuman and Bharat depicted in a prayerful posture at their feet and Lakshman and Shatrughan standing beside them. Jaipur-based sculptor Satya Narain Pandey and his team have crafted Ram Darbar, which is made of white Makrana marble. Pandey's idol design had lost out to that of Mysuru-based artist Arun Yograj ahead of the 2024 ceremony. In January 2024, the Trust selected Arun Yogiraj, the Mysuru-based artist's idol for the pran pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla. The Ram Lalla idol is made of Krishna shila (black schist) and depicts the deity as a five-year-old boy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presided over pran pratishtha of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, at the temple's sanctum- sanctorum on the ground floor.

Ram Darbar at Ayodhya Temple opens for public darshan

Ayodhya: Devotees from across the country are thronging Ayodhya as the first floor of the Ram Temple -- transformed into a grand Ram Darbar -- was officially opened for public darshan on Saturday. The decision to open the sanctified first floor was taken by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust after consultations with the local administration. To manage the expected surge in footfall, a pass system has been introduced, similar to that is used for Ram Lalla's darshan. Only a limited number of visitors were allowed on Saturday, with 300 passes allocated across two time slots -- from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Of these, 150 passes are managed by the district administration and the remaining 150 by the temple trust. The 300 passes for each slot are further categorised into 100 'Special Darshan' and 50 'Easy Access Darshan' passes to streamline the flow and accommodate those with special needs. Despite the intense summer heat, long queues of enthusiastic devotees were seen outside the temple premises. Many expressed a deep sense of fulfilment and spiritual joy upon reaching the temple. "We have been standing here for an hour now, but we are happy to be here. It's very hot, but we want to have darshan of Ram Lalla," said one devotee, patiently waiting in the queue. Another added, "After coming here, all the tiredness goes away. Even after a long journey in this heat, we feel blessed." The newly unveiled Ram Darbar features a majestic idol of Lord Ram in his royal form, flanked by idols of Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman, set in a regal tableau that showcases the grandeur of the divine court. Earlier, on June 5, the consecration of the Ram Darbar was marked by the installation of eight idols in newly constructed temples within the complex. These include Lord Shiva in the northeast, Lord Ganesha in the southeast, Lord Hanuman in the southern wing, Surya (Sun God) in the southwest, Goddess Bhagwati in the northwest, and Goddess Annapurna in the northern wing -- each placed according to traditional Vastu principles.
