Jaire Alexander's contract is good news for Seahawks' CB pursuit
Jaire Alexander's contract is good news for Seahawks' CB pursuit The Baltimore Ravens recently signed free-agent cornerback Jaire Alexander following his release from the Green Bay Packers. The Seattle Seahawks never felt like legitimate players for Alexander. Nonetheless, GM John Schneider will have paid close attention to his agreement in Baltimore. The Seahawks have been linked to adding another veteran cornerback to their roster prior to training camp starting in late July. Alexander's deal with the Ravens could help kickstart movement on the market again. Schneider will be thrilled with the terms Alexander agreed to. Alexander signed a one-year contract with the Ravens worth up to $6 million. Alexander's base salary is just $4 million, per OverTheCap. He could earn the additional $2 million via play-related incentives. Alexander is a former Pro Bowl defender. Though he's battled injuries and inconsistencies in recent years, he possessed more negotiating power in free agency than most available cornerbacks. His deal being so team-friendly is bad news for other veteran corners on the market. The Seahawks previously hosted free-agent cornerbacks Rasul Douglas and Shaquill Griffin on visits. Both veterans are taking their time before making a decision. Alexander's compensation will have a direct impact on their negotiations. Alexander's deal means the Seahawks should add a veteran cornerback on an even cheaper deal than first imagined.

Seahawks' Sam Darnold called \
Seahawks' Sam Darnold called "riskiest move" of the offseason The Seattle Seahawks made the decision to sign free-agent quarterback Sam Darnold after trading starter Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. Darnold inked a three-year contract worth $100.5 million. Seattle is hoping their gamble pays off. Bleacher Report recently compiled a list of the five riskiest moves of the offseason. The Pittsburgh Steelers' decision to sign Aaron Rodgers is among the inclusions. Notably at no. 1 overall is the Seahawks' move to sign Darnold in free agency. "The Seattle Seahawks' gamble is a risk on another level entirely," Kristopher Knox wrote. "Like the Rodgers signing, it has the potential to blow up in Seattle's face and cost jobs. However, it's a risk Seattle didn't necessarily have to take. While the financial investment isn't egregious for a starting quarterback, it's a lot for a seven-year veteran with exactly one good season on his resume." B/R is correct that the Seahawks are taking a huge risk by handing the offense to Darnold. As noted, his previous experience with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak could prove decisive. Kubiak also plans to field a run-heavy offense with Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet in the backfield, removing some pressure from Darnold. Knox was willing to entertain the potential positive outcomes, too. "It could all work out, of course," Knox added. "Darnold's salary is manageable. He has experience with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who was with Darnold in 2023 as the San Francisco 49ers' passing game coordinator. Maybe Darnold's Pro Bowl campaign was only a glimpse of what's to come, and his end-of-year struggles an aberration." Darnold will decide the Seahawks' 2025 season.

Ocean View Seahawks Class of 2025 soars into the future
Ocean View High School Principal Robert Rasmussen, in his fourth year in charge, knows that the Class of 2025 is the first that he's seen through an entire high school career. 'Every graduating class is special to me,' Rasmussen said last August, on the first day of the school year. 'Being able to watch them grow and mature throughout those high school years is one of the reasons I became a teacher.' The Seahawks' Class of 2025 flew the coop, so to speak, on Wednesday. Ocean View, the smallest of the six comprehensive high schools in the Huntington Beach Union High School District, definitely has no shortage of school pride with its slogan, 'You can't spell 'love' without 'OV.'' Ocean View celebrated its 291 graduates on an on-campus commencement ceremony. Mayra Chavez Casillas addressed her peers with a speech as the senior class president, while Gabrielle Singer and Santiago Valle also gave speeches as senior senate representatives. Angelina Bado, Matthew Bonilla, Brian Bui and Jacssiry Munoz were the Seahawks' other four senior graduation speakers. Tyler Babikian played the national anthem, while Dulce Rabano sang the alma mater. — Daily Pilot Staff

1 reason for Seahawks optimism in 2025
1 reason for Seahawks optimism in 2025 Pro Football Focus recently wrote an article outlining one reason for optimism for all 32 teams in the league. The Seattle Seahawks underwent significant changes this offseason. The most helpful change may have occurred at offensive tackle, where Klint Kubiak was hired in place of the fired Ryan Grubb. "Seattle has seen a ton of offensive turnover this offseason," Dalton Wasserman wrote. "That unit's next era will be led by former Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who did a nice job of creating production when he had a viable starting quarterback in New Orleans last season." "Flanking Kubiak in Seattle will be quarterback Sam Darnold, who played in San Francisco with Kubiak as his quarterbacks coach in 2023," Wasserman continued. "If Darnold can maintain the 80.7 PFF overall grade he recorded in a similar offense last season, the Seahawks' offense could be in good shape." The Seahawks are certainly hoping that the existing relationship and familiarity between Kubiak and new starting quarterback Sam Darnold will lead to positive on-field results. Grubb, the previous OC, routinely looked in over his head. That's why head coach Mike Macdonald fired him after one season. Kubiak could help the Seahawks' offense greatly improve in 2025.

Seahawks' biggest Achilles heel since 2020
Seahawks' biggest Achilles heel since 2020 Pro Football Focus recently released a list compiling all 32 teams' most difficult opponents since the 2020 season. Almost every player is active except the Seattle Seahawks' one. The Seahawks' biggest Achilles heel has been former Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. "Aaron Donald's second appearance on this list comes about due to his production against a divisional foe," Dalton Wasserman wrote. "In seven matchups against Seattle from 2020 to 2023, Donald recorded a 92.1 PFF pass-rush grade. He generated a ridiculous 47 pressures, six sacks, a batted pass, and a 21.9% pass rush win rate. Statistics like that are simply a reminder of how dominant Donald was." Donald announced his retirement in 2023 after an illustrious 10-year career. The Seahawks were thrilled to see him hang up his cleats. The future first-ballot Hall of Famer and three-time Defensive Player of the Year Award winner is arguably the greatest defensive player of all time. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the rival Rams quickly reloaded their defensive line following Donald's premature retirement. The likes of Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Byron Young, and Kobie Turner have formed a fierce pass rush in L.A. They're no Aaron Donald, though, who routinely tormented the Seahawks throughout his career.
