Julianne Moore Questions If Her Daughter Sydney Sweeney Is a Murderer in ‘Echo Valley' Trailer
Could Sydney Sweeney be a murderer, and if so, would her mother Julianne Moore even care? Such are the questions at the center of the highly-anticipated Apple Original Film 'Echo Valley,' directed by 'Beast' and 'Encounter' filmmaker Michael Pearce and written by 'Mare of Easttown' scribe Brad Inglesby. Sweeney stars as Claire, the troubled daughter of Kate (Moore), who shows up on her doorstep covered in someone else's blood. 'As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival,' the logline reads. The film is set on the secluded Echo Valley Farm in Pennsylvania, with the tagline teasing that the feature is a 'heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.' 'Echo Valley' is produced by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Films and The Walsh Company, with Michael Pruss, Ingelsby, and Kevin Walsh for The Walsh Company under his multi-year Apple TV+ producing deal. Pruss and Ingelsby developed the script together. The film will be executive produced by Scott Greenberg, Scott Free's Rebecca Feuer, and Nicole Jordan-Webber. Erika Olde and Sam Roseme will also executive produce through Black Bicycle Entertainment. Tanja Tawadjoh will co-produce. Sweeney told Vanity Fair that she watched hundreds of YouTube videos of addicts interviewed on Los Angeles' Skid Row to prepare to play Claire. She also drew from personal encounters with addicts as well. 'I've had a lot of family members deal with addiction and then struggle with similar issues as Claire and her friends, and her group that she hangs out with,' Sweeney said. 'I've kind of had firsthand experience with it. I mean, there's a manipulation underneath a lot of it. But when there was love in the air in the room, you truly still felt it. The person that they are at the core, as buried as they might be, is still there.' Director Pearce credited Sweeney for going all out for the role, saying, 'It's kind of spooky how quickly she can get to a very raw emotional place when you call 'action,' and she's just straight away exactly where the character needs to be. Which is often a very place of extreme emotional duress. Then you'd call cut and maybe change your lens, and she's very light. You'd call 'action' again, and she's straight there in a matter of seconds.' Pearce continued, 'The way that she was screaming at Julianne, I thought she was going to burst her eardrum. It was so intense. But as soon as we called 'cut,' they were just laughing. They were just so happy to get their teeth stuck into such a meaty scene.' And co-lead Moore hinted at just how twisted the film is: 'These are my favorite kinds of movies: movies about relationships,' Moore said. 'What will people do for one another? What kind of decisions do you make? How far will you go? I'm kind of curious what the reaction will be,' she says. 'There will be a sense, certainly, among parents going, like, 'well, would I do that? How far would I go?' You're left with those questions.' 'Echo Valley' premieres June 13 on Apple TV+. Shia LaBeouf Saddles Up for Crime Thriller Film GOD OF THE RODEO — GeekTyrant
Shia LaBeouf is set to star in God of the Rodeo , a new crime thriller written and directed by Father Stu filmmaker Rosalind Ross. The movie is set in Louisiana's infamous Angola Prison in 1967, God of the Rodeo tells the story of Buckkey, 'a hardened inmate serving a life sentence who finds a glimmer of redemption in an unlikely opportunity: the prison's first-ever inmate rodeo. 'As Buckkey and his fellow inmates prepare for a last grasp at glory, they're confronted with the reality that the rodeo is nothing more than a gladiatorial showcase — a grueling fight for survival designed to satiate the public's bloodlust and fulfill the warden's delusion of godliness." The film is based on journalist Daniel Bergner's real-life reporting from inside the prison which was one the most violent prisons in the American South. Giannina Scott is producing through her Cara Films label, with Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss on board via Scott Free Films. It sounds like exactly the kind of role that will give LaBeouf space to go unhinged, soulful, and unpredictable, as he likes to do with the films he stars in. LaBeouf's been keeping busy. He's currently on screen in Salvable , a Lionsgate drama about a washed-up boxer trying to fix things with his estranged daughter. He's also in David Mamet's Henry Johnson , which adapts Mamet's 2023 play and puts LaBeouf in the middle of a moral tailspin. God of the Rodeo doesn't have a release date yet, but it sounds like it will be a great project for LaBeouf to take on. Source: Deadline

Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney star in new thriller Echo Valley, playing a mother and daughter immersed in the consequences of a dark secret. Michael Pearce directs the Apple Original film, which is written by Brad Inglesby. The trailer opens with Kate (Moore) startled by the sudden appearance of her troubled daughter Claire (Sweeney) on her doorstep covered in rain and blood. Claire confesses to her mother that during an argument with her boyfriend, she hit him with a rock. After Claire says no one saw her, Kate wraps up his body, lugs it in the back of her car, and dumps it in a body of water. 'As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival,' the film's synopsis reads. Meanwhile, Sweeney will reprise her role as Cassie in Season Three of HBO's hit drama Euphoria alongside Hunter Schafer's Jules, Jacob Elorid's Nate, Alexa Demie's Maddy, Eric Dane's Cal, and Maude Apatow's Lexi. Shia LaBeouf to star in crime thriller God of the Rodeo
Shia LaBeouf is set to star in the crime thriller 'God of the Rodeo'. The 'Transformers' star, 38, has signed on to lead director Rosalind Ross' upcoming movie, which will be based on the reports of Daniel Bergner from inside the deadliest prison in the American South. Set in the harsh confines of Louisiana's Angola Prison in 1967, 'God of the Rodeo' follows Buckkey, a hardened inmate who discovers a faint hope of redemption through an unexpected chance - the prison's first inmate rodeo. As Buckkey and his fellow prisoners train for what may be their final shot at dignity, they come to realise the rodeo is no heroic contest, but a brutal spectacle. Designed to entertain the public and feed the warden's messianic ambitions, it becomes a punishing battle for survival masked as sport. As well as directing 'God of the Rodeo', Ross is set to write the movie's script. Meanwhile, Sir Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss are to produce 'God of the Rodeo' through Scott Free Films, alongside Giannina Scott under her Cara Films banner. LaBeouf could recently be seen in Francis Ford Coppola's 'Megalopolis', in which he starred opposite the likes of Adam Driver and Jon Voight. The filmmaker previously explained he chose to cast "cancelled" actors like LaBeouf - who has faced allegations of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress from former girlfriend FKA Twigs - in order to avoid 'Megalopolis' being written off as a "woke" movie that was "lecturing viewers". In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he said: "What I didn't want to happen is that we're deemed some woke Hollywood production that's simply lecturing viewers. "There were people who are archconservatives and others who are extremely politically progressive. But we were all working on one film together. That was interesting, I thought." 'The Godfather' director praised LaBeouf for his work on 'Megalopolis', though revealed the actor had "deliberately" tried to create tension between the two creatives. He explained: "Shia really took to it. I had no experience working with him prior to this, but he deliberately sets up a tension between himself and the director to an extreme degree. "He reminds me of Dennis Hopper, who would do something similar, and then you'd say, 'Just go do anything,' and then they go off and do something brilliant." 'Megalopolis' - which also stars Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel and Giancarlo Esposito - takes place in a decaying future New York City, where a visionary architect battles political corruption and personal betrayal as he attempts to rebuild the city into a utopia called Megalopolis. Coppola also said he hoped audiences would resonate with the "vision of hope" woven throughout the movie, which polarised critics and ended up disappointing at the box office. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, the filmmaker said: "It's a Roman epic, what can I say? It's a dive into a world that exists more than it should. Of course, it's about loyalty, but ultimately in the end it's a vision of hope. "There's always the vision of human beings that are great and are capable of dealing with any challenge they have to make a beautiful world for ourselves and for our children. It's a hopeful film."
