Nintendo Switch 2 owner loses 20 years' worth of save data in botched transfer

One unlucky player's Nintendo Switch 2 experience will make you cautious about transferring save data to the new console. Transferring all your data from the Nintendo Switch to your shiny new Nintendo Switch 2 console should be a simple process. Not only can it sometimes not work though, but Nintendo's confusing messaging led some to think it could only be done during the initial set-up process. That's not the case and you can easily move save data from one console to the other any time you want, either wirelessly or through the Nintendo Switch Online exclusive cloud service. Unfortunately, it's not a risk free process, as there are reports of Switch 2 owners losing whole save files while trying to transfer them. One particularly devastated owner admits to losing their Pokémon Scarlet save this way, and in the process losing 20 years' worth of progress. If you're wondering how that's possible, that's because they had been holding onto all the pokémon they owned from previous games, going as far back as the Game Boy Advance, and had transferred them into Pokémon Scarlet. In a now deleted Reddit post (per IGN), ThatOtaku26 admitted they were 'about to cry' after realising the last 20 years of pokémon they collected had just vanished into the ether. 'I just got a Switch 2, did the startup and initial data transfer with no issues. My Scarlet save file is gone. It loads straight into the language selection and create a character screens. No data on my OLED. Just all gone,' they wrote. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. It's not even clear what happened since they insist there was no error in the data transfer: 'There's nothing I can do. I don't even know if I wanna play anymore.' Other fans soon chimed in with commiserations and stories of similar incidents that happened to them in the past. 'The Pokémon save system is the s******** thing ever,' replied daoester406. 'My 6-year-old son and I lost all our save data for Scarlet, Sword, Arceus, and [Let's Go, Pikachu]. We can always start again, but man is it such a pain in the butt.' Some have suggested ThatOtaku26 contact Nintendo's customer support to try and have their data recovered, but there's no guarantee they'll be able to help. More Trending IGN's own Rebekah Valentine suffered the same problem with her Pokémon Violet save file, saying customer support 'just shrugged their shoulders' when she spoke with them. Incidents like this are perhaps the best advertisement for the Pokémon Home cloud service, which lets you store any pokémon you've acquired and transfer them between compatible games. It's really the only option fans have, since none of the Pokémon games on Switch are compatible with Nintendo's cloud save feature and thus can't be backed up online. While Nintendo's never given a formal reason as for why this is the case, the common theory is this is to prevent players from cheating by duplicating certain pokémon. Former Ohio State basketball players get fans pumped for upcoming season

Former Ohio State basketball players get fans pumped for upcoming season If you haven't noticed yet, the Ohio State basketball program is welcoming former players back to Columbus for a week they call "Vet Camp." It's a chance for former OSU players to come back to town and practice, work out, and coach the current roster full of players. It's a great time to connect and be around guys who have been through the thick and thin, who have bled Scarlet and Gray and can relate and provide guidance, competition, and a mature outlook on what it means to be an OSU basketball player. After Monday, many of those who came back to stay in touch with the program they used to play for took time out to express their excitement about the upcoming season on social media. It's a short message by the likes of Greg Oden, D'Angelo Russell, Brice Sensabaugh, Kosta Koufus, and Ron Lewis, and a few others, of the anticipation for what this season could bring. All believe in what head coach Jake Diebler and the program are building and what could be in store for the 2025-2026 season. If you haven't seen the messages each provided, you can get a look now thanks to the Ohio State Hoops "X" account below. Hopefully, these former players are correct because the Buckeye program sorely needs to have a momentum-building year where it makes it back to the NCAA Tournament. It would help immensely if Ohio State also contended for a Big Ten title and more, but baby steps, right? This Morning fans rage 'why are they encouraging this?!' as woman brags about undergoing FOUR Brazilian bum lifts along with boob and nose jobs in 'irresponsible' interview

This Morning viewers raged 'why are they encouraging this?!' as a woman discussed her four Brazilian bum lifts alongside other cosmetic surgeries in an 'irresponsible' interview. Co-presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard sat down with Scarlet, 30, on Thursday's instalment of the daily ITV show. Scarlet features on Olivia Attwood: The Price Of Perfection and has had four BBLs as well as work on her breasts and nose. The popularity of non-surgical BBLs, which involves injecting filler into the buttocks, has increased significantly. Scarlet had her first BBL five years ago and delved into her experience and reasons. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She said: 'My first surgery that I had, I think I was 20 years old I had my boobs done and I thought 'Oh that was nice' so I went and had my nose done and then the BBLs started I think five years ago I had my first one. 'And then I've kind of tried to have one every year, I did skip a year so I've had four all together for now.' Cat asked Scarlet what her appearance was like when she was younger and what made her want to change her looks. The 30-year-old shared she was 'always on the curvier side and never that skinny'. She decided she wanted to take her curves further through surgery and explained: 'I think I thought to myself, if I'm going to be curvy, lets be really curvy, lets make the most of it, lets see if I can have some stuff done so I am really happy with how I look.' The guest admitted social media 'is a big thing' and is influential but also shares that she has experienced people online being rude about her appearance 'all the time'. Ben looked shocked and Scarlet went on: 'I've had four rounds of lipo and they're still calling me fat, so you can't win, can you?' However, she admitted: 'They don't bother me because at the end of the day I'm happy with how I look, I get these things done for me, not for anyone else.' Scarlet also revealed she experienced lipo burns from her first BBL: 'So my first one I got some lipo burns on the side, at the time i didn't realise that was the norm.' 'It is one of the complications and risks that you do know that could happen,' she added. 'They healed okay, there's little scars and stuff but a the end of the day I knew the risks going in.' On Olivia's show, Scarlet hadn't met her surgeon until five minutes before her procedure. 'I'd done lots of research but that is kind of normal, when you're having surgery abroad you don't meet the surgeon until right before,' she explained. Scarlet also revealed she would not have chosen to have her last BBL in England. 'The surgeons in England like to do it very natural and that wasn't the look I wanted, when you go abroad they do give you the more extreme look,' she said. Some viewers watching This Morning felt the programme was 'irresponsible' to be broadcasting cosmetic surgery. Many posted on X: 'Once again #thismorning being consistently irresponsible by having women like this on.'; 'Why the Fk are they encouraging this like it's normal??!!! #thismorning.'; 'Shows like #thismorning are complicit in promoting this body modification insanity.' Dr Zoe Williams joined Scarlet and discussed the risks of cosmetic surgery like BBLs. 'Of all the cosmetic procedures out there it does have the highest death rate,' Zoe revealed. She added: 'I'm not here to judge Scarlet and you obviously knew the risks and yo weighed up the benefits and the risks for you and you felt that having that surgery fell on the side of benefits.' The resident TV doctor expressed how she was 'worried about people going abroad though, for that reason that they're not regulated in the same way.' 'There's a whole range of possible, dangerous side effects,' Zoe explained. 'The most important one that Scarlet mentioned is something called fat embolism,' she said. 'So when the fat is sucked out of the body in various different places, goes through a process of purification and is then injected into the butt, if it's injected into the muscle it can accidentally go into a blood vessel. 'That fat can then travel into the heart and travel to the lung and block the lung and that causes pulmonary embolism which can be fatal.' She shared other concerns including infection, tissue necrosis and the impact of recovery. This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 from 10am and is available to stream on ITVX.

ESPN names controversial Ohio State football play as one of the 25 best since 2000

ESPN names controversial Ohio State football play as one of the 25 best since 2000 As an Ohio State football fan, there are likely a dozen or so plays etched in fans' memory banks, plays that they'll remember forever. There's the "85 yards through the heart of the south" play against Alabama in the CFP semifinal, and two plays from this past season alone on the way to a College Football Playoff national championship. We all remember Captain Jack's scoop and score against Texas and the "Third and Jeremiah" long pass play against Notre Dame to seal the national title in Atlanta. Going back further, "Holy Buckeye" was my generation's play when quarterback Craig Krenzel connected with Michael Jenkins for a go-ahead touchdown and ultimately winning score against Purdue. Ohio State doesn't win the 2002 BCS national championship without it. But what if you aren't an Ohio State fan, but just a college football fan in general? What plays would make the cut if we went back to, say, 2000, and started to rank them? Luckily for all college pigskin fans, ESPN attempted to do just that by identifying the top 25 college football plays since 2000, and there is one memorable, seismic play that may have altered two programs' national trajectories. The play ESPN ranked as No. 10 is the pass interference call against Miami (FL) when Chris Gamble went up and tried to haul in a pass from Krenzel on fourth down in the corner of the end zone. Talk to a Buckeye fan, and it was clearly interference, but talk to a 'Canes fan or other fans that loathe the colors Scarlet and Gray, and it was questionable at best, especially since the flag came out after what seemed like an eternity. Here's what ESPN's Andrea Adelson said about the play. Perhaps the most questionable pass interference call in college football history, the penalty on Miami's Glenn Sharpe in overtime in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl prevented the Hurricanes from repeating as national champions and cementing their dynasty. With one play left to keep their season alive, Ohio State quarterback Craig Krenzel dropped back to pass on fourth-and-3 from the 5-yard line, throwing for Chris Gamble in the end zone. The pass fell incomplete, and Miami players and staff ran onto the field in celebration. Except ... Terry Porter, the field judge, threw a flag several seconds after the play ended, a delay that added to the mass confusion that followed and resulted in the widespread second-guessing of the call (for those outside Columbus, Ohio, that is). The officials huddled and called pass interference on Sharpe. With a fresh set of downs, Ohio State scored to send the game into a second overtime and won the game 31-24. OSU fans may be a little upset due to the fact that the heading of the play is titled "Champions*," yes, with an asterisk. History will show that this play will forever be a controversial one, and how you view it likely depends on your rooting interests. They call that confirmation bias, and it is as prevalent in college football as it is in our politics these days. But hey, Ohio State landed on the positive side of this one and brought home its first national championship in 34 years at the time, so we'll take it.
