"She's Got No Name" unveils first official poster
6 Jun - Two years after the first announcement, Peter Chan's "She's Got No Name" finally unveiled the first official poster for the first part of the movie. The poster reveals the looks of all the cast for the first time, sparking interests of fans who mostly commented that all of the actors seemed unrecognisable and are truly immersed in their characters. This includes lead actress Zhang Ziyi, whose character has scars covering her face; Yang Mi looking dishevelled in her character as a female prisoner, Jackson Yee in shades and equipped with a cane as a blind fortune teller, as well as Zanilia Zhao, looking glamorous as a writer. Fans also couldn't help but notice that both Zanilia and Yang Mi are placed on each side of the poster. The decision seemed to be a way to avoid the fandom of both actresses from arguing on who is the bigger star. Since the film debuted in the non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival last year, there has been no further news until it was recently announced as the opening film of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival. What is noteworthy is that the film has recently been announced to be divided into two parts, the first of which has the Chinese title of "Jiangyuan Lane: Mystery". He Qiushi says sorry for plagiarising Silence Wang's concert
5 Jun - Chinese social media influencer He Qiushi has recently released a statement of apology, after being accused of plagiarising Silence Wang's concert concept during his show in Chengdu. The Douyin creator has been accused of copying the Chinese singer's stage look including his pink tartan pattern outfit complete with bunny ears, his custom microphone, stage elements, as well as the interactive sessions with fans. The similarities between the two sparked a backlash among fans, who slammed Qiushi's team for having no originality. In response to the issue, on 2 June, Qiushi's studio issued a statement to apologise to Silence Wang and his team, explaining that due to time constraints, they coordinated with multiple teams and He's show was conducted entirely in accordance with the plan provided by a third party without them checking it properly. On 3 June, Qiushi released his own apology, writing, "This is my first time holding a concert. Due to my lack of experience, I didn't personally control many details and arrangements of the concert. This was my negligence. I was also naive, immature and unprofessional, which caused harm to everyone. I would like to sincerely apologise to everyone here. I'm sorry." (Photo Source: SINA, SOHU)

Yang Zi is nominated at Magnolia Awards again
28 May - Yang Zi has been nominated yet again at the Magnolia Awards, becoming the youngest nominee in the Best Actress category. The actress, who is nominated for her costume drama, "Flourished Peony", will be competing with the likes of Crystal Liu ("The Tale of Rose"), Ma Yili ("To the Wonder"), Song Jia ("She and Her Girls") and Yan Ni ("Romance in the Alley"). Despite the nomination, many expressed scepticism about Yang Zi having a chance to win, seeing that the drama she is nominated for is the one with the lowest rating score among other contenders, having received only 7.8 stars out of 10 compared to, for example, "She and Her Girls" rating of 9.6 or "To the Wonder" rating of 8.9. However, despite the lower possibility due to rating score, it is noted that Yang Zi still held her own record for being the first post-90s actress to be nominated in the Magnolia Awards for two consecutive years. Last year, the actress was nominated for her performance in "Lost You Forever". (Photo Source: On CC, SINA)

Zanilia Zhao deletes posts responding to romance rumours
28 May - Zanilia Zhao has recently deleted three posts from her official Weibo account amid the heated debate among netizens regarding her love life. The whole issue sparked with the recent rumour saying that the actress is now dating director Midi Z, with sources stating that the filmmaker was seen going into her residence with an access card and even spending time with Zanilia's son. After the news broke, Zanilia attended a brand event on 23 May, and a tag appeared on Weibo saying "Zanilia Zhao's first appearance after her relationship was exposed". The actress decided to be cheeky by reposting the said tag and posted, "Jumping on a trending topic given by 'Zhalang' to announce the release date of 'What a Wonderful World'!" While the actress was just poking fun at the whole thing by trying to get attention to her new drama, some wondered if it counts as an official announcement of her new relationship. In response, she responded with an expression that can be interpreted as, "As if!" and added, "What a Wonderful World will set its release date tomorrow." However, the actress had since deleted the three posts, prompting many to speculate that she received backlash over her response. Meanwhile, Zanilia's fans supported the response, saying that it was a typical "sharp-tongued Zhao" approach, where the actress breaks the unwritten rule of celebrities having to always tolerate things said about them.
