Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants Release Revealed at Xbox Games Showcase 2025
At SGF 2025, Xbox unleashed their Xbox Games Showcase chock full of trailers and the next Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants adventure was revealed. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is continuing the adventures of Indiana Jones with The Order of Giants, expanding the Great Circle adventure beyond the base game released by Bethesda last year. While the Xbox Games Showcase showed many surprises, Bethesda has previously forecasted The Order of Giants DLC, but today's trailer gave us a release date. The trailer can be seen below. The new story chapter takes Indiana Jones to the ancient streets of Rome where forgotten catacombs twist into something with a more sinister atmosphere. Indiana Jones must outwit a dangerous cult and decipher puzzles designed by emperors to uncover the dark legacy of the Nephilim giants in the new adventure revealed at Xbox Games Showcase. The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants storyline ties into the core story of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, The Order of Giants will see us delving into the secrets of the Nephelim, the organization that Tony Todd's momentous figure Locus was part of in the base game. It also promises to continue the acclaimed FP-perspective game's run of stealth, action, and puzzles. CGMagazine's review of the base game called it 'stunning, with environments expertly crafted to evoke a sense of wonder and danger.' Previously, the DLC was just mentioned as something that was happening surrounded by cryptic release vagueness. Today, the Xbox Games Showcase revealed the DLC will be arriving on Xbox Game Pass day one, on September 4. Fans can check out the official Xbox page for the DLC here. Grounded 2 Surprisingly Revealed at Xbox Games Showcase 2025
At SGF 2025, Xbox unleashed their Xbox Games Showcase chock full of trailers and the next game from Obsidian, Grounded 2 was revealed. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 laid many surprises at Xbox fans' feet, including the official reveal of the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally. Xbox still had a lot more in store for players, and although Obsidian Entertainment had the The Outer Worlds 2 Direct that follows the Xbox Games Showcase, they revealed another sequel during the Xbox Games Showcase. Grounded 2 is coming, and the first reveal trailer can be seen below. CGMagazine's review of the original Grounded called it 'a unique title with a simple premise, but a lot of meat on its bones' back when it launched in 2022. Instead of carving a live-service feel from the original Grounded from 2022 similar to how Xbox Studios handled RARE's Sea of Thieves, Xbox gave Obsidian Entertainment the green light to develop a full-fledged sequel. The original Grounded title was released two years after it entered early access for PlayStation, and although the trailer was brief, it made no mention of coming to the PlayStation platform. Grounded 2 follows the premise of the original game, but this time, the adventurous party of select-a-character kids are navigating a local park, riding ants, running along picnic tables and fallen popsicles, and battling a bevy of spiders and scorpions instead of just exploring a massive backyard. Obsidian Entertainment has been on a tear lately with their releases, The Outer Worlds (and a sequel), Grounded, and the Pillars of Eternity universe spin-off with Avowed. Xbox continues to greenlight many of the studio's upcoming projects. Interestingly enough, Grounded 2 is not only in development, but it's launching into Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. Fans looking for more SGF 2025 coverage, can head to CGMagazine for all of it! Be sure to check out all of the other announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase

Resident Evil Requiem has a third-person view for fewer cheap jump scares
The biggest surprise of SGF 2025 was the reveal of a new Resident Evil. The 'ninth' game of the series broke cover on the first day of the gaming show. After a fake-out tease from Capcom executives halfway through SGF Live, the show closed with a brief trailer for the Resident Evil Requiem. Resident Evil Requiem will center on a new character, Grace Ashcroft. Ahead of the hands-off gameplay presentation, game director Koshi Nakanishi outlined how Grace isn't a combat-hardened soldier or survival expert of episodes past. In that way, she's more exposed and under constant threat, at least judging from the early gameplay demo. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. The audience collectively chuckled at Grace equipping herself with an empty medicine bottle. That is not likely to be enough. Apparently, though, her detective skills will come into use in the game, although we didn't see that during Capcom's presentation – she was mostly just trying not to die. The gameplay demo starts with Grace, strapped to a hospital bed. She's seemingly soaking wet, injured and to add insult to those injuries, she's also upside down. As she struggles to escape her restraints, a sense of constant tension and stress builds – it feels like the whole place is a threat, and I kept a careful eye on the closed door of the room intently as she finally broke free. The demo then plays out from Grace's first-person perspective, a la Resident Evil 7 and Village. Things remain tense as she cautiously explores the mystery locale. The gameplay focused on simple object interaction, like Resident Evil series past. Survival horror staples, like screwdrivers, broken fuses and overly ornate keys are still here as Grace sculked and breathed heavily around what appeared to be a run-down hotel. Much of the demo involves the fear of being attacked rather than actual attacks. Dark hallways, light switches that didn't work, and barely any hints or objects to give Grace context about where she's ended up. Eventually, an infected corpse fell out of a door onto Grace, momentarily relieving the tension. Finally, a threat! But the dead body isn't really the threat: a giant creepy hand swings across to grab the corpse, and it's attached to giant ogre woman-beast that bites the head clean off. Grace spent the remainder of the demo fleeing the creature, which managed to bite her shoulder. This creature could even destroy the ceiling to create new paths. The demo concluded with Grace seemingly facing her demise, armed only with the medicine bottle. The game starts up again, but with a twist. The camera pans out to offer a 'classic' third-person perspective to Grace's nightmare. The audience during my screening went wild. (A quick now that Resident Evil Village 's expansion added its own third-person mode, so it's not an entirely new shift.) A Capcom spokesperson said you'd be able to transition between the views throughout Resident Evil Reqiuem, offering, if not a difficulty setting, more of a jump scare setting. My take is that a third-person view is a little less scary, so I'll probably be using that. Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch February 27, 2026.

Pragmata is a satisfying sci-fi shooter with an intriguing double act
Capcom's odd-couple sci-fi action game, Pragmata , is almost here. At SGF 2025, I finally got to steer Hugh (the human) lumbering around in a military spacesuit, with the adorable android, Diana piggybacking along. First announced in 2020, Pragmata is set on a lunar base, where an industrial mishap turns security droids hostile, while lines of communication back to Earth have been severed. The USP here is how you fight your threats by teaming up with a small synthetic girl who can hack into hostile robots while you shoot away at them with a collection of weapons. Hugh starts off with a simple pistol with unlimited ammo but soon acquires additional firearms, including a shotgun-like energy gun that inflicts severe damage up close and restraining webbing to slow down multiple enemies, giving Diana more time to hack. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. I was intrigued to see how Capcom would balance P ragmata' s gameplay premise of controlling and fighting with both characters. I thought it would involve a lot of tagging between each character, or worse, steering each with a different analog stick. Fortunately, Pragmat a's implementation is an elegant one. The player primarily controls the human, Hugh. While he runs and guns, Diana's powers involve locking onto an enemy and making hacking attacks by navigating a two-dimensional grid with the DualSense's main buttons. Triangle for up, Circle for right .etc. While getting from point A to B inside this grid will 'break' a robot's defenses, you'll want to pass through other nodes on the way, increasing damage and even adding buffs. The limit here is ensuring Hugh remains out of danger long enough to focus on Diana's efforts. Thankfully, Hugh's equipped with dodges and rocket dashes to keep his distance from enemies. Expect to use walls and structures as cover, too, especially when facing multiple enemies at once. It's probably possible to take down enemies without hacking, but it will take a lot more time. Hacking also interrupts the robots' attacks and movement — it's mandatory in most confrontations in Pragmata . The rest of the demo involved exploring the area, releasing multiple locks to progress further into the lunar base. Hugh can jump and boost himself for longer gaps or just some controlled hovering. Pick-ups between battles were mostly health boosts and secondary weapons. Most one-on-one encounters could be dealt with using the low-damage pistol, but when there are two, three, or five enemies, swapping between the slow-down weapons or the powerful shotgun was very much necessary. It's a satisfying battle system, but I'm curious as to how deep this system will go. (Also, I wish I'd got to try some boss battles during the demo.) When Diana hacks and successfully breaks a robot's defenses, certain parts and systems are highlighted in yellow, suggesting possible weak points. It's a little similar to Horizon' s scanning mechanic, and while I couldn't get an answer during my hands-on demo, it'll be interesting to see whether that offers some more depth to combat. I'd appreciate the ability to focus on neutralizing a heavy-duty weapon or slowing an enemy down by aiming at their legs. As the company teased in the latest trailer, Pragmata 's been a long time coming. First revealed in 2020, Capcom is now aiming for a 2026 release.

Directive 8020's rewind feature makes play-your-own-survival-horror easier for completionists
Supermassive's well-regarded interactive survival horror series, the Dark Pictures Anthology, is ready for its second season. Directive 8020 will be its first entry and was available to play in demo form at SGF 2025, even if it was heavily weighted with cutscenes and context-setting preamble. The demo kicked off with a meeting between Young and Stafford, marking the anniversary of Young's father's death, who was also a long-time friend of Stafford's – the commander of the space mission that Young is also bound for. The plot then leaps four years forward, placing us aboard the spaceship Cassiopeia. Oh and it's somehow overrun by some fungal, sentient alien goop. Worse still, but also a horror staple, the goop is coalescing into almost-perfect copies of the human crew. Trust no-one! To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. When the hydroponics bay is overrun by an alien substance, two crewmates Cernan and Stafford, have to fight their ET doppelgangers. Finally, I got to play (but only for a few minutes), moving stealthily around the lower deck of the hydroponics bay while my alien copy (now fungal and angry) tried to hunt me down. Fortunately, you're equipped with a scanner to mark where the aliens were last seen, and after triggering a nearby hydroponic pod to distract, I made my way up the ladder. This was one of three ways to play this section, handily introducing a new mechanic for The Dark Pictures' second run: Turning Points. Using this feature, you can rewind to these decision trees, allowing you to replay sections and explore different options or alter the outcome. This is an interesting change for the series. In previous games, while you could rewind to replay entire sections in macro, there was no way to change a single micro decision. I discussed this with my colleague Jessica Conditt, and we're both the kind of players to continue with our terrible decisions in games like Directive 8020 , the Dark Pictures Anthology, Until Dawn and the rest. Fortunately, then, Directive 8020 will include a hard-boiled Survivor Mode – with no rewinds. The demo shifted back to a more narrative focus and cutscenes, briefly interrupted by the possibility that one crew member (specifically, the CEO funding the whole operation) might be an alien. Did I pull the trigger? Nope. I'll have to wait til the October launch to know if that was the right decision to make. Directive 8020 launches on 2nd October, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
