Wacky Mart convenience store snack series to release on Fri
Toy collector POP MART has unveiled its The Monsters Wacky Mart Series Figures that will drop on Fri (13 Jun). Inspired by convenience store snacks, the 13 characters are: Grilled Sausage, Fried Shrimp, Corn, Chips, Cup Noodles, Milk, Canned Sardines, Yakitori (Japanese grilled chicken), Chow Mein (Chinese stir-fried noodles), Sandwich, Salad, Onigiri (Japanese rice ball) and a secret character. POP MART is a Chinese company that sells collectables, often designer toys. It is known for its blind box format. This allows buyers to buy an item without knowing what they will get until after opening the box. Its range includes original figurines such as Labubu and Pucky. Labubu is a monster elf in a series called 'The Monsters' by artist Kasing Lung. Inspired by Nordic fairy tales, Lung modelled the series' characters after goblins, fairies and monsters. On 6 Jun (Fri), POP MART also released a 1-minute 11-second video trailer that starts with 4 humans shopping in a convenience store. They chance upon the 4 food items: Corn, Milk, Fried Shrimp and Onigiri. The video ends with a Labubu mascot escaping from the humans. The trailer came just 2 days after the company uploaded a carousel teaser revealing the Fried Shrimp character onto its Instagram account. In the background of one of the images, you can see the other food items that inspired the other figurines in the series. From 6pm SGT, you can buy the Wacky Mart figures online or from their physical stores in Singapore. A Wacky Mart blind box is priced at (S$25.78) in the United States. POP MART has also announced The Monsters Wacky Mart Series that will drop on 13 Jun (Fri) at 6pm SGT, comprising accessories such as the (US$44.99) (S$57.84) (above, left) and the (US$34.99) (S$44.99) (above, right). New in town: Teng Xpress – clean, light vegetarian tempura in CBD
When you're searching for places for lunch, how many vegetarian options are there? But don't worry, there's the newly opened Teng Xpress in The Heart, Marina One. Teng Xpress is a concept store opened by Teng Bespoke Vegetarian Dining, founded in 2012. They focus on creating flavourful meals with little to no additives. Teng Xpress incorporates seasonal vegetables and vegetarian alternatives into their tempura for a fresh, light bite. As it is a kiosk-style store, you can place your order via machines, which gives you more time to scroll through their extensive customisation options. Introverts rejoice (myself included)! Teng Xpress's opening offers the Teriyaki Glaze Set Menu (S$9.90). It comes with cold buckwheat noodles, a choice of 4 tempura items and a bowl of miso soup. For the CBD area, I'd say this is worth the price. The tempura ingredients vary from mock prawn (or ebi) to enoki mushrooms, asparagus, eggplant and more. Since they will bring in seasonal produce, I'm excited to see new menu items pop up throughout the year. Apart from mains, Teng Xpress also offers snacks such as youtiao and tau huay. As they are available from 8am, you can get these for a light breakfast or a midday snack. Who could say no to youtiao that's crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, eaten with silky tau huay? Note that there is no seating area within the store itself as it's a 'pick-and-go' sort of place. A small price for a quick and easy meal, I suppose. If you need to sit, though, there are seating areas around the mall you can use. Within walking distance from Downtown, Shenton Way and Marina Bay MRT stations, Teng Xpress's opening provides an accessible and affordable vegetarian option. First dibs: Top picks at Korea's cult-favourite Standard Bun pop-up in SG
For just 2 months, Korea's hottest bakery — Standard Bun — is bringing its viral bakes to town! The pop-ups will be located at Suntec City (4 Jun to 3 Aug) and Bugis Junction (10 Jun to 13 Jul). Famed for their mocha buns that see Seoulites queuing down the block, this is your chance to experience Korea's bakery culture without hopping on a plane. Even the king of K-POP, G-Dragon, is a fan! You may be wondering, 'Isn't the mocha bun just an overpriced Rotiboy?' I also had my doubts, so we tried 8 out of Standard Bun's 25 flavours, and here's our verdict. The signature Mocha Bun (S$3.90) boasts a lightly dense, chewy centre with a crispy, fragrant mocha crust. But what sets Standard Bun's bakes apart is their house-aged maple butter — a rich, savoury layer with a hint of mellow sweetness from the maple that lingers after every bite. You can purchase the spread individually at S$2.90 for 50g and S$19 for 300g. Although that didn't blow us away, we absolutely adored the Salt Mocha Bun (S$4.20) (left). I'd best describe it as the love child of a coffee bun and a shio pan, 2 of the best breads in the world. Compared to its sweet counterpart, it's slightly fluffier with a crispy, salty underside that contrasts with it perfectly. Savoury bread lovers should definitely get the Garlic Cream Cheese Bun (S$5.50), which tastes as good as it looks. The filling was a decadent mix of slightly sweetish, garlicky, cheesy goodness that was rounded out with its creamy texture. For my dessert lovers, I'd recommend the Milk Cream Bun (S$5.80) that transported me straight to Korea. It was packed to the brim with a rich milk cream that had a cloud-like texture, ensuring that it doesn't get too jelak. It was pleasantly sweet, but not at all cloying. Paired with the fluffy bun, I simply couldn't put it down. Some notable mentions are the Apple Cinnamon Bun (S$5.60) and Jambon Bun (S$7.50). Both had the same base of a mocha bun, but I felt that the innovative flavour combinations here took it to the next level. Also, just look at those thick slabs of butter! Although it's just a pop-up, Standard Bun is going all the way by offering coffee and ice cream on the menu for the full cafe experience. And if there's one thing Koreans nail, it has to be their innovative dessert coffee selection. Pair your bakes with their signature Ice Cream Latte (Iced) (S$8.50) and Almond Mocha Java (S$7.50). In my humble opinion as a self-proclaimed bread connoisseur, Standard Bun is above the standard, for sure. Ppalli head down to Standard Bun to try them for yourself! Are you really going to waste it all? This latest promotion has been launched in conjunction with SG60. To claim your ActiveSG vouchers, go to the MyActiveSG+ platform between 2 Jun and 31 Dec 2025. You will need to use SingPass to access the website. If you are a new user, create an account and receive S$200 in ActiveSG vouchers. If you are an existing user, you will receive S$100 in ActiveSG vouchers simply by logging in. Your balance appears at the top left of the screen. If you are an existing user with unused ActiveSG credits, the validity of those credits will be extended to 31 Dec 2026. After this, unused credits can be rolled over to 2027 if you complete just 1 transaction (a successful booking of a program or facility, even if free) in 2026. Your ActiveSG vouchers translate 1-to-1 to ActiveSG credits. These credits can be used to: Hire sports facilities such as badminton courts Gain entry to swimming pools and gyms Attend fitness classes listed on the MyActiveSG+ website, such as ActiveSG Academies, Clubs, school holiday programs, KpopX Fitness, Zumba and Active Health programs Please note that the credits from your ActiveSG vouchers cannot be used to book Dual Use Scheme (DUS) facilities.
