Drowning incident claims two lives in South Al Batinah
Muscat: In a tragic incident, two individuals drowned in Wadi Al Hawqain in Rustaq, South Al Batinah Governorate, and their bodies have been recovered, said the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA). CDAA confirmed that rescue teams responded to the incident. In response. CDAA urges the public to avoid swimming in undesignated areas to prevent future tragedies.

Oman: Tourist sites in South Al Batinah witness surge in visitors
Muscat: A number of tourist sites in the wilayats of South Al Batinah Governorate have witnessed increased activity over the past two days. Ain Al Kasfa in the Wilayat of Rustaq has seen a large influx of visitors drawn by its natural hot springs. The spring remains a popular tourist destination, especially following recent developments. Restaurants and cafes near the spring have also experienced a rise in footfall. Tourism has also been active in Nakhal, covering various tourist, archaeological, and historical sites such as Nakhal Fort and Ain Al Thawara. The Jabal Al Luban Trail has recorded a significant increase in visitors due to its unique terrain and rich ecological diversity. Located along the road to Ain Al Thawara, one of the area's key tourist attractions, the trail introduces visitors to the local flora and provides an opportunity for hiking. In the Wilayat of Wadi Al Ma'awil, the Hajarat Al Sheikh Walkway in the town of Afi has attracted a vibrant flow of tourists from within and outside the region. The project promotes tourism by connecting three significant heritage sites: Hajarat Al Sheikh Neighborhood, Al Safalah Castle, and Bait Al Ghasham Museum. Eid Al Adha celebrated with traditional fervour in Rustaq
Muscat : The Wilayat of Rustaq, South Al Batinah Governorate, witnessed various celebrations on the occasion of Eid Al Adha. The festival, near Rustaq Fort, attracted a large turnout of vendors and shoppers, where a variety of products and traditional foods were displayed, along with toys and sweets. The festival also featured a variety of folk art activities, such as the Razha and the Aazi, which are popular traditions for which Rustaq is famous. It is worth noting that the festival takes place in the evening, after the Asr prayer until the Maghrib prayer, and includes various activities, such as folk art. It begins on the second day of Eid and continues throughout the day, with active participation of residents.

Consumer Protection Authority seizes over 1,400 units of chewing tobacco in joint operation
Muscat: In an ongoing effort to regulate markets and eliminate banned substances that pose risks to public health, the Consumer Protection Authority in South Al Batinah, Rustaq, has successfully confiscated over 1,400 units of chewing tobacco and raw materials used in its production. CPA said in a statement: 'The operation, carried out in coordination with the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution, followed a report indicating that a group of expatriate workers were engaged in manufacturing, distributing, and selling chewing tobacco in three locations in Al Musanah. Upon verifying the report, law enforcement officers conducted thorough investigations and managed to seize 1,408 items, including ready-to-sell chewing tobacco and its raw ingredients. The violators admitted to the charges, leading authorities to confiscate the illegal products and impose administrative fines. The Consumer Protection Authority emphasized that trading such banned products violates Article 7 of the Consumer Protection Law, which strictly prohibits the circulation of adulterated, counterfeit, or unauthorized goods, as well as their advertisement. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to taking legal action against violators to protect consumer safety. It urged the public to remain vigilant, adhere to consumer protection laws, and report any illegal practices observed in local markets through official communication channels.
