Champions League club 'plot shock move' for Man United star Andre Onana - with Chelsea goalkeeper 'also on Ligue 1 club's shortlist'

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly the subject of surprise interest from a Champions League side. The Ligue 1 club are on the hunt for a new stopper this summer with neither their No 1 or No 2 having managed to impress last season. Onana is also coming off the back difficult campaign in which he made a number of high-profile errors and United finished 15th. The Cameroonian has started 72 Premier League games for United since signing from Inter Milan in July 2023, keeping 18 clean sheets. Significant changes are expected at United this summer with manager Ruben Amorim looking to overhaul his squad following a desperately disappointing season. Onana is rumoured to have attracted interest from Saudi Arabia and now French outfit Monaco are believed to have entered the race, according to L'Equipe. Neither Radoslaw Majecki nor Philipp Kohn were particularly convincing last term and club CEO Thiago Scuro has confirmed a new keeper is a priority this summer. Chelsea's Djordje Petrovic has also been considered after returning from his loan spell with Strasbourg. He is not expected to have a future at Stamford Bridge. The former Inter and Ajax stopper is currently on holiday but he was stopped for a quick chat by reporter Stephane Bassalia Ouattara this week. When quizzed about whether he might be departing United this summer, a smiling Onana replied in French: 'Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!'

Viktor Gyokeres is 'willing to wait for Arsenal dream' - with star's agent insistent there IS agreement with Sporting Lisbon for £60m move this summer

Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly ready to exercise patience as he holds out for a move to Arsenal this summer. The Sporting Lisbon star is one of the most in-demand strikers on the market this summer after his goalscoring exploits over the past two seasons. The Swede has netted 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese outfit since signing from Conventry two years ago. It is no secret that a new striker is the top priority for the Gunners this summer after three consecutive second placed finishes in the Premier League. United are also on the hunt for a new forward with Rasmus Hojlund having struggled since his big money move to Old Trafford. Gyokeres may know United manager Ruben Amorim well from his time at Sporting but the player has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, according to Portuguese outlet Record. Their report states that 'patience is the word' for the 27-year-old, who is willing to wait until the end to see his dream of playing for Arsenal become reality.' His price-tag has become a major stumbling block for any deal with Sporting trying to hold out for a significantly higher fee than was originally agreed with the player's camp. It is understood that Gyokeres believes he reached a gentleman's agreement with Sporting last summer that would see the club accept a fee in the region of €70m (£60m) including add-ons at the end of the season. Gyokeres has a €100m (£84m) release clause in his contract, and club president Frederico Varandas has accused Gyokeres' team of trying to 'blackmail' the Portuguese giants. The Record report added: 'The Nordic player's agent, Hasan Çetinkaya, believes he can explain all the situations that are at the origin of the conflict, with evidence, so that Sporting fans also understand the player's motives. 'In this sense, Record has learned, the agent is keeping open the possibility of revealing, specifically, an audio message from Hugo Viana, in which he will confirm the gentlemen's agreement to allow Gyokeres to leave for €60m + €10m, following the meeting held on September 19 last year.'

Ruben Amorim to brutally 'axe four Manchester United stars' from pre-season tour

Manchester United could be set to bid farewell to some huge players this summer with Ruben Amorim seemingly nudging some towards the Old Trafford exit door before the Red Devils return Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are among four misfits set to be axed from Manchester United 's pre-season tour. The Red Devils are set to travel to the US in July for a clutch of lucrative matches as part of their preparations for the new campaign. They will take on Premier League rivals West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton as part of that tour. But Ruben Amorim is set to take a brutal approach to his squad with many stars expected to leave Old Trafford this summer. ‌ According to The Sun, four out-of-favour stars are set to be left behind at Carrington for the tour should they fail to seal moves away from United before then. That includes academy graduate Rashford after Aston Villa turned down the chance to sign him permanently following his loan spell. ‌ The forward has since been linked with Barcelona. He is set to be joined by Jadon Sancho after he too saw a permanent move to Chelsea collapse following a loan spell last season. Napoli have since emerged for his services but are struggling to afford his wages as it stands. Alejandro Garnacho also faces little prospect of a future at United - the Argentine having also been linked with Napoli. The final player that Amorim wants to leave behind is Antony. The Brazilian winger has struggled since his big-money move from Ajax and while he impressed with Real Betis last term, the Spanish side are yet to make a renewed move. Explaining Amorim's hardline stance, a source quoted by The Sun said: 'Amorim is stamping his authority on the club. It was hard arriving mid-season but he now has the opportunity to shape the team in his image. And he's wasting no time. 'He only wants players who would die for the shirt and are on board with his ideas. He also wants a smaller squad to create an intimate team bond so that everyone gets enough game time to be at peak fitness when called upon. He doesn't want any bad apples or distractions.' ‌ Who else should Man United sign this summer? Share your thoughts in the comments below While Amorim is set to axe a few faces from his squad for United's pre-season commitments, there could also be a few new additions to the squad. Matheus Cunha is due to join up with the Red Devils following his £62.5m move from Wolves. He could yet be joined by Bryan Mbeumo, who remains at the heart of a tug of war between United and Tottenham. As it stands, he favours a move to Old Trafford but United chiefs are yet to agree terms with the Bees over the Cameroon forward. Bryan Mbeumo signs, Marcus Rashford departs - Man Utd's next transfer moves

A busy summer is expected at Old Trafford and Carrington as Manchester United are left with no option but to back Ruben Amorim or face another year of desperate struggle Matheus Cunha is signed and ready to deliver after his £62.5m arrival from Wolves but that should just be the start of a long and hectic summer at Manchester United. Ruben Amorim's squad needs significant revamping following the nightmare campaign just gone and chief executive Omar Berrada says the club's target remains winning the Premier League in 2028. ‌ But everyone under the sun knows that the club must persuade other clubs to sign high-earning misfits for them to fund further new signings - with outgoings now the top priority despite continued interest in Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ Here is where things stand with 81 days left in the transfer window. Mbeumo chase United know that their attack needs drastic improvement if the gap is to be closed in 2025-26 and Mbeumo has proven his Premier League chops by excelling at Brentford. However this deal is complicated by two factors. Spurs are also interested, having just appointed Thomas Frank from the Bees and Mbeumo may decide working with his old boss and playing in the Champions League is a better option. Plus he would not have to relocate. United aren't in Europe and the fact is that if they are to sign him there must be a number of unwanted stars heading for the exit. Ekitike doubts That second point also applies to any pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt's forward Hugo Ekitike, who carries the red flag of having no experience of English football and just one prolific year in the Bundesliga. ‌ Eintracht are under no obligation to sell and what a big sum. United have taken similar risks in recent seasons that have backfired spectacularly. Rashford interest Then there are the exits and none are more high profile than Marcus Rashford, the homegrown hero no longer with a future at Old Trafford. ‌ His loan at Aston Villa last season went well before injury cut it short and a return there appears unlikely. Barcelona have been linked, talk of a switch to Newcastle has been dismissed. But it is probably beneficial to all parties for a deal to be agreed. Sancho to Naples Similar can be applied to Jadon Sancho. Chelsea paid £5m not to sign him following his mixed bag loan and recent reports suggest Napoli would be keen on bringing him in, joining Scott McTominay. ‌ But, yet again, there appears to be a snag regarding the financial make-up of a move. Garnacho conundrum Reports immediately after the Europa League final suggested that the Argentina attacker was told he could leave if he finds a new club. But he still went on a money-spinning post-season tour in Asia and there have been crickets since. ‌ He is one of few players who could earn a considerable fee, which also means he is one of few players with the natural ability to shine in a successful United side. Expect talk around his future to drag on to the September 1 window. Who else can go? We know Bruno Fernandes will stay because he turned down the Saudi riches but beyond that anyone could go if a good offer comes in. That, according to past reports, includes Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund, who is yet to catch fire after two seasons since arriving for £72m from Atalanta.
