Behind Florida's Sheriff's 'We Will Kill You' to Anti-Trump Protesters
As Americans prepare for a full weekend of protests against President Donald Trump, one Florida sheriff's spooky warning is sounding off alarms on social media. Now, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey is facing backlash after essentially threatening Florida residents organizing for 'No Kings Day' protests against Trump's birthday, military parade. In a news conference, Ivey said 'If you spit on us [law enforcement officers], you're going to the hospital and in jail.' He continued, 'If you hit one of us, you're going to the hospital and jail and most likely getting bitten by one of our big, beautiful dogs we have here.' His darkest threat came next as he confidently warned 'If you throw a brick, a fire bomb or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at, because we will kill you. Graveyard, dead.' He added, 'We're not going to play, this has got to stop.' With Ivey and Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis basically giving the green light for violence against Americans using their First Amendment right, Black folks on X took it all in. 'Dear Black People, this is why we say, 'stay home,'' @ZetaGirlTech said. 'Don't allow anyone to gaslight or shame you for choosing self-preservation. Stay home!' Another user, @AirHarp, wrote 'This is what they've been waiting for,' adding, 'ThisIsWhyWeDontStand.' Other folks weren't moved by the sheriff's threats. 'Lol… continue protesting these people have no right to tell you what you should or shouldn't do,' @biggaboy0 wrote. 'Please remember that the first amendment still applies and no one can outlaw Peaceful Protest,' attorney Gerald A. Griggs said. Upwards 1,800 protests across the nation are expected to go down over the weekend. In cities like Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago, demonstrators are already showing up to counteract Trump. But in other states, like Florida, planned protests being threatened with violent force has folks thinking the state is the real problem. 'Florida seems to be the place that all of the crazy racists… are now coming out of the woodworks,' @adivunsolicited said on TikTok. Back on X, @Bigdumbdog2 said he wishes 'I could saw-off Florida like the Roadrunner does to the Coyote.' S.C. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick criticized the sheriff for his language. 'As public servants, our words matter — and threatening to kill citizens with such reckless and inflammatory language goes far beyond maintaining public safety,' she said. 'This is not acceptable, nor will it ever be.' Many folks online said Sheriff Ivey is clearly standing on one side of the fight… and it's not with the people. 'The MAGA in him is extremely strong. He has waited his whole career for this moment,' @imJohnWess said. 'What a press conference by the Klan sounds like,' @RodnyeTheoc tweeted. Despite Ivey's threats, No Kings Day protests are shaping up to be the largest mass-scale protests since the 2020 Black Lives Matter demonstrations. Meanwhile, Trump is recruiting 6,000 soldiers, military tanks, weapons, planes, and more for his celebratory parade honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and his 79th birthday. The event will go down in Washington, D.C. despite bipartisan backlash.

Turnstile Taking ‘Never Enough' On Tour
With their new Roadrunner album NEVER ENOUGH poised for career-best debuts on the U.S. and U.K. charts, Turnstile have announced a fall North American tour in support of it. Dates begin Sept. 15 in Nashville and wind down Oct. 19 in Orlando, Fl. Presale tickets will be available tomorrow (June 11). Legendary hip-hop duo's first US tour in 15 years to start in Mass.
Pusha T and No Malice will tour the country as the iconic hip-hop duo Clipse for the first time in more than a decade. Clipse announced the dates for their first U.S. tour in 15 years on Monday morning, June 9. The 'Let God Sort Em Out' tour, with special guest EarthGang, consists of 25 dates. The tour will kick off with an Aug. 3 show at Roadrunner in Boston and end in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 10. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general pubic on Friday, June 13. The album is available for pre-order on Clipse's website while its first single, 'Ace Trumpets,' is already out. Formed by brothers Gene 'Malice' and Terrence 'Pusha T' Thornton, Clipse is credited with establishing Virginia as one of the East Coast's strongholds in hip-hop. The brothers were discovered by Pharrell Williams, a fellow Virginia Beach native, in the 1990s. Williams helped the duo get signed to Elektra Records, where Clipse recorded their 1999 album 'Exclusive Audio Footage.' However, the album was shelved and the duo was dropped. Williams then helped Clipse get signed to Arista Records, where they released their 2002 full-length project, 'Lord Willin'.' The album produced the hit singles 'Grindin',' 'When the Last Time' and 'Ma, I Don't Love Her.' It also reached the top 10 of the R&B/Hip-Hop and Billboard 200 charts and was later certified gold by the RIAA. Clipse released two more successful albums – 2006's 'Hell Hath No Fury' and 2009's 'Til the Casket Drops' — before going on hiatus in 2010. Both Pusha T and No Malice pursued solo careers and put out several projects in the interim. The brothers reunited as Clipse when they appeared on Kanye West's song 'Use This Gospel,' featured on his 2019 album, 'Jesus Is King.' Since then, Clipse has performed regularly at Primavera Sound Barcelona, Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival and elsewhere. Clipse's last U.S. tour before their was in 2010 when the duo completed the 'Away From Home Tour,' according to Billboard. That's the sound Texas baseball heard last weekend as UTSA entered the Austin Regional and walked away with the title over the weekend in Austin, Texas, to advance to the super regional round of the NCAA baseball tournament. That, of course, is because the University of Texas at San Antonio has one of the most unique nicknames in college baseball. UTSA will take on No. 15 national seed UCLA in the Los Angeles Super Regional over the weekend hoping to build on what is already the deepest run in the Roadrunners' postseason history. A roadrunner is "born to run," according to the online bird guide All About Birds. The Greater Roadrunner "can outrace a human, kill a rattlesnake and thrive in the harsh landscapes of the Desert Southwest." According to All About Birds, it typically inhabits open country, particularly arid grasslands and low deserts. Its range extends as far north and west as northern California and has extended eastward into Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. It preys on lizards, snakes, mice and birds. The animal was made famous by its characterization by Warner Bros. cartoon in the form of the "Road Runner," as featured in the show "Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner." Why is UTSA called the Roadrunners? According to the UTSA website, the school held an election in 1977 to determine its school mascot. Other potential mascots under consideration included armadillos, stars, eagles, jaguars, puma, toro and vaquero. The names of armadillos and stars actually won the election, but due to a voided election, a second vote was forced. The roadrunner staged a surprising comeback and won the election to become the school's official mascot. It was introduced at a bonfire rally on Dec. 9, 1977, and officially announced on Dec. 12, 1977. Four years later, Antonio Gonzalez became the first student to wear the Roadrunner Mascot costume when he joined the cheerleaders in an attempt to pep up the crowd when the university launched its intercollegiate athletics program. On Nov. 24, 1981, the Roadrunner made its debut, "hatching" from an egg during a basketball pep rally. The name "Rowdy" for the mascot is believed to be from the "rowdy" nature of the university's spirit squad, according to the school's website. What is UTSA's mascot? The self-proclaimed 'Emo Cowgirl' turned some heads in Boston on a rainy Friday night and it's not just because of those shiny white boots, bright red dress and matching lipstick. Megan Moroney took the stage after Sheryl Crow and got the country fans in attendance ready for two-time Country Music Association Award for Entertainer of the Year winner Luke Combs with her own award-winning country twang. Moroney, 27, went from watching Kenny Chesney in concert from section 312 of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2018, to dropping a duet with Mr. No Shoes Nation just a few weeks back called 'You Had to Be There.' She first got noticed when she opened for Chase Rice while she was a student at the University of Georgia. Speaking of Moroney and Combs, she actually made an appearance in his 'Beer Never Broke My Heart' music video back in 2019, well before she dropped her latest chart-topper 'Am I OK?' and 2022 breakout hit 'Tennessee Orange.'
