Video: Man Thrashed On Vande Bharat After Refusing Seat To BJP MLA
New Delhi: A passenger on the Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat train was allegedly thrashed after he refused to switch his seat with a BJP MLA. The incident took place last Thursday when BJP's Rajeev Singh, a legislator from Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, was travelling to his constituency with his wife and son. Mr Singh reportedly got a seat in the back of the train compartment, while his family members were seated in the front, next to the man who allegedly refused to switch his seat. The situation escalated when some men, allegedly linked to Mr Singh, boarded the train at Jhansi station and thrashed the man, who was travelling to Bhopal. A video that has gone viral shows about half a dozen men raining punches on the passenger while he was in his seat. They were also seen using slippers to assault him. The video also shows blood oozing from his nose and his clothes soaked in blood. Railway Superintendent of Police (Jhansi) Vipul Kumar Srivastava has confirmed that the altercation occurred over changing seats. Speaking to reporters, he said appropriate action will be taken based on CCTV footage. The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jhansi said they have registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) after they received a complaint from Mr Singh. In his complaint, Mr Singh alleged that while travelling with his wife and son, a co-passenger behaved indecently, the news agency PTI reported. When objected, the man allegedly misbehaved with his family and later called others at Jhansi station, who also behaved in an abusive manner.

Passenger On Vande Bharat Train Refuses To Exchange Seats With BJP MLA, Thrashed
Last Updated: A dispute over a seat on the Vande Bharat Express led to a violent assault involving a BJP MLA's associates. The incident, caught on CCTV, occurred near Jhansi. A passenger on a Vande Bharat Express train was thrashed after he allegedly refused to exchange seats with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Rajeev Singh from Babina in Jhansi. The incident happened on the New Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express on the evening of June 19. A CCTV video of the incident, widely shared on social media, showed a group of passengers attacking a man who was seated near the automated door of the compartment. Later, Singh lodged a non-cognizable report (NCR) against the passenger. In his complaint, Singh alleged that while travelling with his wife and son, a co-passenger behaved in an indecent manner. When objected to, the man allegedly misbehaved with his family and later called others at Jhansi station, who also behaved abusively. According to initial accounts, the clash allegedly began when the passenger refused to vacate a seat upon being asked, allegedly by Singh or his supporters. The passenger was later assaulted, with the attackers believed to be linked to the MLA. Commenting on the matter, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said the altercation happened over changing seats and objectionable sitting posture inside the train. The situation escalated at Jhansi station, where the passenger was allegedly assaulted by some individuals linked to the ruling party MLA. Railway Superintendent of Police (Jhansi) Vipul Kumar Srivastava told reporters that the assaulted passenger had earlier indicated he would file a complaint after reaching Bhopal. However, as of Friday afternoon, no complaint had been received by Bhopal railway police, he said. Police said further action would follow once the second party formally submits a complaint. Child custody case: Allahabad HC directs Maharashtra DGP, Pune CJM to declare father absconder
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed the Maharashtra director general of police (DGP) and the Pune chief judicial magistrate (CJM) to initiate proceedings under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to declare a man an absconder after he repeatedly failed to produce his three-year-old child before the court in a habeas corpus plea filed by the child's mother. Justice Rajeev Singh, presiding over the vacation bench, on June 12 also ordered the attachment of the father's property under Sections 84 and 85 of the BNSS (corresponding to Sections 82 and 83 of the CrPC), emphasising the urgency of securing his appearance. The court listed the matter for the next hearing on August 1, 2025. The petitioner, the child's mother, had approached the court last year alleging that the father, originally from Ayodhya and currently residing in Pune, had taken away the child illegally from her lawful custody and denied her access to the child. She maintained that only she could care for the child due to the child's age and well-being. The court expressed strong displeasure over the father's conduct, noting that although he appeared on some earlier dates, he later began evading the court. Despite multiple directions, he has failed to present the child, prompting the bench to issue a non-bailable warrant (NBW) on a previous occasion. However, when Pune police attempted to execute the NBW, they found the father missing, and a missing person report was filed by his mother. The court further ordered the senior registrar to communicate its June 12 order/ directions to the Maharashtra DGP and the Pune CJM for immediate compliance.

A highly respected radiologist who was killed in the Air India plane crash has been described as a 'wonderful man' who entertained colleagues with stories about 'his newly discovered love of fish and chips'. Dr Prateek Joshi died alongside his wife and three children on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on Thursday shortly after the aircraft took off from Ahmedabad Airport. Colleagues paid tribute to him as 'a man with such a passion for life' – including an 'enthusiasm for walking in the Peak District'. Dr Joshi worked at the Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton for four years, after moving to Derby from India in 2021. Fellow consultant radiologist, and clinical director for imaging at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), Dr Rajeev Singh, who worked closely with Dr Joshi, said he 'radiated positivity'. Dr Singh said: 'Prateek was full of joy, he was a wonderful man, friend, husband and father, and an exceptional radiologist who was highly respected in his field. 'He approached everything with a smile, radiated positivity and had a great sense of humour. 'He moved to Derby, from India, in 2021, quickly becoming a beloved colleague. 'He often entertained colleagues with stories about his passions outside of work, including his newly discovered love of fish and chips and enthusiasm for walking in the Peak District.' Dr Singh added: 'He touched the lives of so many people, both through his clinical work and as a colleague and friend to many. 'It is hard to accept that a man with such a passion for life, and his beautiful young family, have been taken in this way. 'His passing has left a profound void, not only in his professional contributions but in the warmth and spirit that he gave to the world every day.' The chief executive of the trust, Stephen Posey, said Dr Joshi was a 'dedicated and talented colleague. He said: 'We are profoundly and deeply saddened at the loss of our dedicated and talented colleague, Dr Prateek Joshi and his family. 'Prateek was not only an excellent doctor for whom nothing was too much trouble, but also a warm, smiling and kind man who was a hugely liked and valued member of the team. 'We are privileged that Prateek chose to give his skills, talent and knowledge to the NHS, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.'
