Upload birth, death data in 21 days, pvt hosps told

Ranchi: Private hospitals failing to upload births and deaths records on the civil registration system (CRS) portal would face penalty, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Though the CRS portal has enabled hospitals to submit data online, we are still receiving entries with incomplete documentation or beyond the 21-day period," deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu said. "We have equipped every private hospital with unique hospital IDs to facilitate digital registration. But delays in uploading documents or improper filing defeat the purpose of digitisation," he said. "Hospitals were instructed to ensure that all supporting documents, such as ID proofs of parents and hospital discharge summaries, are uploaded correctly and within the timeframe," said Mukesh Ranjan, the assistant municipal commissioner. Applications received after the 21-day deadline will now attract a penalty of Rs 500 per case, officials said. The civic body would monitor if the hospitals were complying with the directive. Follow-ups would be conducted to reduce pendency and ensure citizens receive birth certificates without procedural hassles, they added.

State frames guidelines for ready-mix concrete plants

Panaji: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has approved, for the first time, environmental guidelines for ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants operating in the state. The major environmental issue posed by these plants is fugitive dust emission during the loading or unloading of materials, and storing, transferring, and mixing them. The guidelines state that commercial RMC plants must be 100m away from settlements, educational institutions, places of worship, archaeological monuments, national parks, reserves, and heritage sites. They state that no such plant will be permitted within the buffer zone of wildlife sanctuaries. Ready-mix concrete is manufactured in a factory or batching plant according to a set recipe, and is then delivered to a work site by truck mounted in-transit mixers. A commercial RMC plant is a concrete batching plant set up for supplying RMC to construction sites, while captive plants are dedicated to a particular project. 'There should be at least 100m distance between two RMC plants for both commercial and captive categories. This will not be applicable to RMC plants located in notified industrial plots/zones,' the guidelines state. All existing RMC plants have been warned not to expand without prior consent of the GSPCB. If such a unit applies for expansion, the board will consider it to be a new industry that will have to adhere to the recommended criteria for new RMC plants, the guidelines state. To curb air pollution, all aggregates such as sand, gravel, or crushed stone will have to be properly covered to prevent fugitive emissions during transportation. 'All containers carrying aggregates to RMC plants shall be first passed through water sprinklers to minimise dust emission during unloading in the storage area,' state the guidelines.

Foreign medical graduates' internship in limbo over stipend row, limited seats

1 2 Jaipur: Nearly 100 foreign medical graduates (FMGs) in Rajasthan are facing an uncertain future as their mandatory internships at ESIC Medical College, Alwar, remain in limbo due to technical and administrative hurdles. Despite the Rajasthan Medical Council's (RMC) allocation of internship positions five months after the foreign medical graduate examination (FMGE) results, these aspiring doctors are still waiting to begin their clinical training. The deadline for joining the internship passed on June 15, leaving the graduates in a state of distress while their peers at other institutions have already commenced their hospital duties. The primary obstacle appears to be a complex web of limited number of seats, regulatory requirements and stipend-related issues. Dr Asim Das, Dean of ESIC Hospital, cited multiple challenges, including conflicting guidelines from various authorities. "There's a Supreme Court ruling mandating stipends for all FMGs, while National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines allow paid internships for only 7.5% of total seats," Das said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Run Your Business Like a Pro - Top Trending Accounting Software (Check Now) Accounting ERP Click Here Undo "This is a govt organisation where we are answerable for the audit. So how do we then differentiate the payment of the stipend? The Rajasthan govt is saying give a stipend to 7.5% of FMGs, but the question is which 7.5% out of the 100 FMGs," said Das. Adding to the complexity is the limited capacity at ESIC Medical College. With 100 internship seats available and an equal number of Indian medical graduates already competing for the same positions, the institution faces a significant logistical challenge. "We have only 100 internship seats. There is going to be a clash of 100 FMGs and 100 Indian medical graduates against these seats," Das said. "We're running from pillar to post, but neither ESIC is accepting our applications nor are the RMC and medical education department taking proper notice of our situation," said one affected foreign medical graduate, who requested anonymity. The delay in internship completion could have serious implications for these graduates, potentially affecting their eligibility for medical practice and further studies, including post-graduation programmes.

Monsoon revives over Vidarbha, widespread rain over 5 days: IMD

Nagpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced a much-awaited revival of the southwest monsoon over Vidarbha, ending a prolonged dry spell that gripped the region since May 29. The monsoon is set to advance northward, promising widespread rainfall across Vidarbha. The resurgence is driven by a trough stretching from central Pakistan through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh into Vidarbha, boosting moisture levels and atmospheric instability. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur has forecasted a widespread rainfall from June 15 to 20, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40–50 km/h. Authorities issued warnings, urging residents to stay vigilant and take precautions during stormy weather. The rainfall is expected to provide significant relief to farmers, rejuvenating agricultural activities that suffered during the dry spell. However, Saturday's persistent dry conditions caused discomfort in several districts, with high temperatures adding to residents' woes. "This monsoon revival is a game-changer for Vidarbha," said an RMC official. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like For all your EV needs ScottishPower Learn More Undo "We anticipate consistent rainfall that will replenish water sources and support crops, but people must remain cautious of thunderstorms." Local administrations are preparing for potential disruptions, advising residents to avoid venturing into open fields during lightning. The active monsoon phase is expected to stabilise weather patterns, offering hope after weeks of arid conditions. Meanwhile, after more than a week of dry spell, Amravati witnessed rains late on Saturday evening. Medium to heavy rains gave respite to people from the scorching heat. Moderate rains started in the city around 8 pm. The intensity grew after 10 pm. Amravatians welcomed the late arrival of monsoon though. Implement new parking rules by Sunday: RMC to parking lot contractors

Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) directed the parking lot contractors to comply with the newly issued operational norms for all authorised parking sites by Sunday. The 48-hour window, which began on Friday, requires agencies to prominently install signage displaying fixed tariffs, agency contact details, and clearly defined parking boundaries. The move aims to curb overcharging and illegal occupation of public spaces. The civic body also urged citizens to report violations on mobile phone number, 8141231235, or toll-free number, 1800-570-1235. Field inspections and enforcement drives would begin from Monday, officials said. Each of the 31 authorised parking sites must display charges of Rs 10 for two-wheelers and Rs 30 for four-wheelers for a three-hour window. A 10-minute free parking period is mandatory. Agencies must also provide printed parking slips and ensure their staff wear uniforms and visible ID cards. RMC commissioner Sanjay Kumar said, "We are focused on creating a system where citizens are not harassed or overcharged. This deadline is firm, and action will be taken against any agency that fails to comply." However, citizens said that 31 parking lots are inadequate for a city with 53 municipal wards and a growing number of vehicles. "We require at least double the number of regulated parking spots, especially in high-density zones like Main Road, Lalpur, and Kutchery," said Neetu Mandal, a commuter at the Nucleus Mall parking space. Some also suggested exploring multi-level parking and converting under-utilised spaces near commercial hubs into parking bays. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
