Gunther Reacts To Rumors That Goldberg Would Show Up During World Title Win On WWE RAW
Gunther isn't worried about any talk because he's in a class of his own. 'The Ring General' regained the World Heavyweight Championship from Jey Uso on Monday's episode of RAW. Gunther's win surprised many people who might have written the match off as a 'typical' TV rematch. Advertisement However, Gunther wasn't surprised, as he addressed all of the talk about his match during the RAW Recap show. The new champion not only addressed people who felt it was a 'nothing' match, but also commented on the rumors that Goldberg or Seth Rollins would show up. Sam Roberts: 'Gunther, I say all of that to say congratulations, you're the World Heavyweight Champion.' Gunther: 'Thank you, of course I am. You said that it caught everybody by surprise? I don't know what's surprising about this. I guess going in, it got perceived as like a 'nothing' match, like 'just a 'Mania rematch.' And everybody was speculating like, Seth Rollins is [going to cash in or teasing cashing in] with his briefcase, Goldberg is going to show up to finally kick my ass. 'The reality is, when I was World Heavyweight Champion the first time, all of those big names, they stayed away from me, and for very good reason. Because ever since I arrived in this company, I've been the most dominant guy around here. And yes, I lost at WrestleMania and I lost to Jey Uso, but I'm going to give him credit. But this is a marathon, not a sprint. And in that case, nobody matches me. Nobody's got the mental ability, nobody's got the confidence, nobody's got the stamina to last that long. It's only me. I'm competing in my own class.' Is Gunther worried about who's next? Later in the show, Roberts asked Gunther if he believed that no one ran in because they were afraid of the consequences. Gunther said he's not worried about looking for his next opponent, and it doesn't matter who it is, because they lack confidence facing him in the ring. Advertisement Seth Rollins won this year's men's Money In The Bank contract. Goldberg has been preparing for his retirement match, and Gunther has long been rumored as the opponent. This is mostly due to their heated interaction at last year's Bad Blood event in Atlanta. Goldberg's retirement match has not been confirmed publicly, but he recently dropped a big hint about where it could take place. Gunther Shares How WWE Stars Reacted to His World Heavyweight Championship Win
Gunther says no one greeted him backstage after WWE RAW win. Gunther defeated Jey Uso on WWE RAW to become a two-time World Heavyweight Champion. Jey, who previously beat The Ring General at WrestleMania 41, held the title for 51 days before dropping it in a shocking result. Many expected Jey to retain, but Gunther secured the win after making him pass out to a sleeper hold. Advertisement The new World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, appeared on the RAW Recap show and spoke candidly about what happened after his victory backstage. He revealed that no one greeted him backstage, unlike other champions who often receive congratulations and celebrations from other WWE Superstars. Gunther isn't in WWE to make friends 'Everybody gets excited about everything in this business, a lot of my colleagues don't seem to have many friends at home or something like that. To them it's very important to have a good time here at work with all the guys together. When somebody achieves something they come to the back and everybody's there, hugging them. When I walked backstage today, there was no one. Everybody left, I guess all the other guys saw it on the screens, saw the finish and left to their hotels, or to travel home or something.' 'I like that, I enjoy that position. I don't need friends, I'm not here to make friends. I'm not here to bond or make lifelong friendships, I have a few friends, I have a great family. That's all I need, and I'm here for business, I'm here to uphold the standard and prestige of this great sport. I'm the sole representation of what really matters in professional wrestling, and that's the reason why I'm so successful.' [H/T: Wrestletalk] Advertisement Gunther also reacted to the rumors and speculation that Goldberg would show up on RAW to challenge him. Big E Reacts To Tony Hinchcliffe Joking About His Neck Injury
Photo Credit: Getty Images Big E doesn't seem too bothered by a comedian making his neck injury the subject of his jokes. Tony Hinchliffe was a special guest commentator during Monday's episode of WWE RAW. The controversial comedian was on the show to promote his show on Netflix, as well as his Roast of WrestleMania live event in Las Vegas. During the show, Hinchcliffe was joking about Michael Cole's age and said, 'The only thing stiffer than Michael Cole is Big E's neck.' This, of course, was a reference to Big E breaking his neck in the ring, which put his in-ring career on hiatus. Advertisement Big E reacted to 'taking some strays' from Hinchcliffe on RAW during his appearance on the RAW Recap. He knows discourse will always be there, but that doesn't mean he has to be part of it. Big E reacts to Tony Hinchcliffe's joke at his expense 'Look, I appreciate that. I guess at my big age of 39 years old, people will say what they want to say about you. It's not — their opinion of you has nothing to do with me. It's not my business,' Big E said. 'Say what you want — he was given a mic, he was given an opportunity and people will feel how they want to. It's just that there's a lot of discourse. Often times, as a public figure, people will say a lot of different things about you, whether they are jokes, whether they are not and that is their right.' Big E knows he was mentioned and is 'supposed to' have an opinion on it. However, he believes it's tiring having to weigh in on every remark. Advertisement 'I'm not hurt. I'm good,' he continued. 'I want the discourse to be had without me. I didn't sign up for this, he did what he wanted to and people signed off on it. It has nothing to do with me, truly.' The Roast of WrestleMania Featuring Tony Hinchcliffe & Friends will take place on Sunday, April 20 at 10 pm PT. Catch up on everything that went down on WWE RAW here. Big E Explains Why He Thinks Chad Gable Is El Grande Americano
Big E isn't fooled by the mystery surrounding El Grande Americano. Chad Gable continues to plead innocence and deny that he is El Grande Americano. The masked man has set his sights on the LWO since he first appeared on WWE programming. He made his official debut on the March 24th episode of WWE RAW, where he defeated Dragon Lee. Speaking on the RAW Recap podcast, Big E was asked about El Grande Americano's identity. 'Don't do this. Let's not go down this route,' Big E said. 'I know Chad Gable's body. I've seen that man in many locker rooms, in many wrestling rings. I could pick that body out of a lineup of 1,000 men. Don't make it weird. I know who that is, and don't insult my intelligence by telling me it's anyone other than Chad Gable. Let's stop this whole charade. 'Let's take this man out the mask. I know who you are, let's end this. Every little bit of it, let's kill it right now. Let's be done with it. I know every square inch. I know how it all lays out, I see how the lats taper to the waist. It wasn't intentional. I spent a lot of time around half-naked men and also naked men. This was not what I intended when I started out on this journey. But it's a byproduct of this profession.'
