Orlando Pirates get Mofokeng warning from father
Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng has several suitors vying for his services, but does that mean he will actually leave? Early offseason signs point towards an exit, speculation most recently fuelled by the 20-year-old's father, Sechaba. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said. [Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia.' 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' Orlando Pirates rejected a R25.8 million bid from Zamalek earlier this year, an offer that is likely to be the first of many from North African and beyond Mofokeng's father isn't the only influential individual who see's big things from the Soweto baller. Earlier in the season Bafana Bafana boos Hugo Broos predicted the 2024/25 season to be his last in South Africa. 'I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… I'm a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution.' 'Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that's for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that's the problem. But ok, let's hope, maybe I talked too soon about that.' 'We'll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Orlando Pirates news: Angolan attacker, Zimbabwean star, Mofokeng exit
Orlando Pirates are eyeing some exciting prospects. However, they could see starboy Relebohile Mofokeng go the other way. A R25.8 million bid from Egyptian giants Zamalek in January was early warning signs that several clubs will be trying their luck at signing the 20-year-old phenom, who many claim to have been Pirates' best player this season. Causing more concern for Orlando Pirates fans is Mofokeng's father, who believes now is the right time for his son to leave South Africa. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said. Angolan forward Laurindo Depu Aurelio is another player on their radar, who also has interest from rivals Kaizer Chiefs. 'What I can tell you is that both teams had their scouts there. The scouts were all happy with what they saw in Depu and they enquired about him,' a source confirmed. 'Apparently Kaizer Chiefs wanted their defender Inacio Miguel to help them talk to the player and his representatives. And Orlando Pirates also believed to be willing to talk to the player. They have their different reasons but apparently the scouts from both clubs are happy with what they saw.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Meanwhile, the club will soon announce a new club captain following the release of Innocent Maela, with defender Nkosinathi Sibisi one of the favourites to take over armband duties, a rumour club legend Benedict Vilikazi approves, saying, 'Though it puzzles me why Pirates keep releasing their captains, I believe Nkosinathi Sibisi would be a perfect replacement for Maela.' The Buccaneers have yet to name Riveiro's successor, but the latest signs point to former Mamelodi Sundowns manager Rulani Mokwena as being on their radar. The PSL winner recently rejected Egyptian giants Zamalek. A player Orlando Pirates would love to lure is Cape Town City youngster Jaedin Rhodes: 'One of those reinforcements could be a long-time target, Jaedin Rhodes. Although the 22-year-old has endured an underwhelming season with Cape Town City, he remains a high priority on the Buccaneers' list,' a source said. 'The club [Orlando Pirates] has been met with resistance by City in previous attempts to lure Rhodes to Gauteng, but according to sources, will try once more in the upcoming window. Complicating matters will be the Citizens' peculiar situation.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Orlando Pirates news: Saleng, Mofokeng, Moremi, Martin
Orlando Pirates have an eventful few months before the 2025/26 campaign ignites. The upcoming offseason window could make the difference in achieving league and Champions League glory; it's a time when not only are they on the hunt for stars, but they're also looking for Jose Riveiro's successor. The latter will be hard to replace, someone who revolutionised the club through his youthful approach, winning five trophies in three years. However, it shouldn't insinuate that finding a suitable candidate can't be done. Former AmaZulu FC coach Pablo Franco Martin is the latest name to be linked with the Orlando Pirates. 'There have been talks between Pablo Franco Martin and Orlando Pirates,' an inside source revealed. 'An offer has been made but he is not the only coach the club is looking at and there are other candidates. He is very interested in the Pirates job, and he has since parted ways with the club he was coaching in Saudi Arabia despite being made an offer to increase his salary to renew his contract.' Tshepang Moremi is one of the most sought after players in the league. The uSuthu star has Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates vying for his services. Meanwhile, youngster Relebohile Mofokeng has several foreign suitors trying to lure him – offers are expected throughout the winter window. Egyptian giants Zamelek FC had a R25.8 million bid rejected earlier this year. Forgotten winger Monnapule Saleng appears to be nearing an exit following a near six-month hiatus, however, no clubs are yet to show interest. Orlando Pirates seem to have given up on the Bloemhof-born star Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
