Orlando Pirates news: Saleng, Mofokeng, Moremi, Martin
Orlando Pirates have an eventful few months before the 2025/26 campaign ignites.
The upcoming offseason window could make the difference in achieving league and Champions League glory; it's a time when not only are they on the hunt for stars, but they're also looking for Jose Riveiro's successor.
The latter will be hard to replace, someone who revolutionised the club through his youthful approach, winning five trophies in three years. However, it shouldn't insinuate that finding a suitable candidate can't be done.
Former AmaZulu FC coach Pablo Franco Martin is the latest name to be linked with the Orlando Pirates.
'There have been talks between Pablo Franco Martin and Orlando Pirates,' an inside source revealed.
'An offer has been made but he is not the only coach the club is looking at and there are other candidates. He is very interested in the Pirates job, and he has since parted ways with the club he was coaching in Saudi Arabia despite being made an offer to increase his salary to renew his contract.'
Tshepang Moremi is one of the most sought after players in the league. The uSuthu star has Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates vying for his services.
Meanwhile, youngster Relebohile Mofokeng has several foreign suitors trying to lure him – offers are expected throughout the winter window. Egyptian giants Zamelek FC had a R25.8 million bid rejected earlier this year.
Forgotten winger Monnapule Saleng appears to be nearing an exit following a near six-month hiatus, however, no clubs are yet to show interest. Orlando Pirates seem to have given up on the Bloemhof-born star

OFFICIAL: Orlando Pirates board selects their new head coach
Orlando Pirates have mulled over a key decision for months. Jose Riveiro left the club, and there's a big name arriving. Rulani Mokwena will return to the Buccaneers for 2025-2025. The 38-year-old leaves Wydad AC after an underwhelming season in Morocco. 'Mayele will only come to South Africa for a holiday and Amapiano' 38-year-old Rulani Mokwena will be the next Orlando Pirates manager, according to several local sources. Orlando Pirates sell themselves short with Mofokeng asking price?
Orlando Pirates have named their price for Bafana superstar Relebohile Mofokeng amid concrete interest from Israel. Are they showing off an inferiority complex? Pirates want €1.5 million (R31.1 million) for the 20-year-old wide attacker. Should the Sea Robbers bring wealthier negotiators to the table? 'Mayele will only come to South Africa for a holiday and Amapiano' 'Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana winger Relebohile Mofokeng has attracted the interest of Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv,' iDiski Times reported. 'Haifa has been tracking the 20-year-old for the past season and is aiming to lure him from the club to bolster their strike for the new season after finishing third in the league behind Tel Aviv and champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva. 'With UEFA Conference League football on offer, it could be a tempting next step for the promising attacker of Pirates, who will be keen to test himself out of the Premier Soccer League, should the clubs reach an agreement. 'Word is, though, they could face competition from rivals Tel Aviv, who have also taken up interest in Mofokeng after his impressive performances for Bafana and in the CAF Champions League this past campaign,' the report added. 'Orlando Pirates [are] demanding about 1.5 million euros (approx. R31.2 million) for the 20-year-old talent, as well as a percentage of any future sale,' the publication said. The future is now for Pirates. Image: BackpagePix The ever-reputable @UnplayableZA on X believes Pirates will unveil as many as eight new signings soon. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Velebayi, Kwinika, Maart, Nabi, CAF
Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce any new signings but the club have been making grounds behind the scenes on a number of players. The team is set to jet off to the Netherlands for their pre-season training next month where they will play a number of friendly matches. Having won the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi will participate in next season's CAF Confederation Cup meaning coach Nasreddine Nabi will need a big squad. In the past few days, Amakhosi have been linked with SuperSport United's Ime Okon. The young defender is set to leave Matsatsantsa but it seems like moving abroad is his main objective. If Chiefs can push for a move to happen, they might sign the 21-year-old promising defender. So far, Amakhosi have Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel and Given Msimango in defence. Young Aden McCarthy has been promoted from the reserve side making him an option in that position. Another player who was set to leave was Zita Kwinika. The Soweto-born defender did not play much under Nabi until the end of the season where he impressed the coaching staff. According to reports, the defender has penned a new deal, keeping him at Kaizer Chiefs for another season. Another player believed to have signed for the Soweto giants is Asanele Velebayi. Amakhosi chased the winger last year but failed to secure his services. According to KickOff , Kaizer Chiefs had until the end of May to exercise the option to extend Yusuf Maart but the club failed to do so 'End of May is standard procedure to exercise the option. If a club does not exercise the option, the player is free to sign with someone else,' an experienced agent told the publication. 'No one wants to leave Chiefs, you know. If the player doesn't want to leave the team, he'll hold out until they tell him something,' added the agent. Kaizer Chiefs have already parted ways with Njabulo Blom, Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, and Edmilson Dove.
