Did Justin Bieber earn $10 million for Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding? Event planner says 'even DJs charge $1 mn'

Anant Ambani, son of India's wealthiest billionaire, Mukesh Ambani, and wife Nita Ambani, married Radhika Merchant on July 12, 2024, in Mumbai. Their wedding was a grand affair, featuring multiple extravagant events in India and Europe, luxurious attire and jewellery, and performances by Indian and international celebrities such as Rihanna, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. Speaking to insiders, like Preston, 'an event designer who has planned weddings like Ivanka Trump's and last year's Ambani wedding', and several others, the report mentioned how the rich have paid top dollar to hire musicians for wedding functions, and Canadian singer Justin Bieber 'reportedly earned $10 million for performing at the Ambani wedding', adding that 'through a representative, Justin Bieber declined to comment'. 'Even the DJs charge a million dollars,' Preston said in the report that mentioned how, increasingly, 'name-brand DJs like Gryffin and Martin Solveig are becoming in demand too, as couples look to turn the wedding afterparty into an Ibiza nightclub'. A post shared by Ambani Family (@ambani_update) The Ambani wedding's opulence and extravagance drew significant attention, with estimates suggesting it cost around $600 million. The couple's outfits were designed by top international fashion houses like Versace and Dolce & Gabbana, as well as leading Indian designers like Tarun Tahiliani and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The couple's pre-wedding celebrations included a three-day party at the Ambani home in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with guests like Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bill Gates. Interestingly, the report added that Preston also designed the 2009 wedding of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of US President Donald Trump. Preston was quoted as saying, 'Luxury weddings have turned theatrical.' Designing high-end weddings where nothing is too much requires creativity, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the couple's vision. In the same report, Preston shared details of how he brought even the most elaborate wedding visions to life. Preston shared that he recently commissioned a $500,000 holograph of a bride's deceased grandfather to share well wishes, saying that 'for billionaires, if it's exciting, they'll go for it'. He added that clients typically 'hope to show the guests something they've never experienced before'. Preston has reportedly 'built $600,000 structures, rented 10-foot candelabras and ordered custom furniture from Egypt' and typically works with silk flowers for overhead installations, which can cost $25,000 to $75,000. He recalled a time when flowers shipped from the Netherlands for a wedding in Kuwait got stuck at the airport due to an alleged customs issue – and 'he had to send someone with $3,000 or $4,000 cash, as at that point you're willing to do anything'.

Shoppers recal thel moment a car drove through Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne

Shoppers have recalled the moments a car drove through a Melbourne shopping centre yesterday afternoon in an incident police say was lucky not to cause significant injuries. The car sped through Northland Shopping Centre in Preston while evading police just after 4pm on Wednesday, causing chaos inside. "I just heard a bunch of people screaming, and then I looked out the window and the car just flew past," Bridget Scicluna, a worker inside the shopping centre, said. Paramedics assessed two people at the shopping centre in Melbourne's north, but there were no injuries, while police said one person was treated for shock. Yasmin, who said she was getting her nails done when the incident occurred, said she heard a loud noise and then saw a car driving past. "I thought a fight broke out, but then I looked to my left and I saw a car speeding as fast as it could," she said. "I was in shock, honestly." Yasmin noted there had been multiple incidents at the shopping centre in recent months. "Expect the unexpected," she said. Another witness, Anthony McKnight, said he thought the car was going at least 30 to 40 kilometres per hour when it was inside the shopping centre. "[The car went] straight through the door. I was standing at the door. Everyone … was trying to run away," he said. "It was terrifying." Police said the incident was "not a targeted attack". "It was purely a means to get away from the police at that time," Victoria Police Superintendent Kelly Lawson said on Wednesday afternoon. The driver has not been apprehended, but police said they were confident of making an arrest. "Police do have some very good footage of him," Ms Lawson said. "I would call upon that person to think about handing himself into police because it is only a matter of time for that arrest to occur."

Terror as car ploughs into shopping centre

A stolen vehicle has driven through a Melbourne shopping centre as it tried avoid police. Ambulance and police are on the scene at the Northland Shopping Centre on Murray Road, Preston after the terrifying incident at 4pm on Wednesday. A woman named Tanya said she had been locked down in a Kmart on Wednesday afternoon. 'It sounded like gunshots, but it was a car,' she said. 'Some girls (in the store) saw it and they put the gates down straight away.' Tanya told 3AW Drive up to 70 people were barricaded into the store with her. Victoria Police said in a statement they attempted to block in the white LandCruiser, outside the shopping centre. 'The LandCruiser, with one male occupant on board, has taken evasive action to avoid the police and driven through the middle of the shopping centre,' police said in a statement. 'Thankfully, no one was struck by the car and there are no reported injuries.' 9News reported shoppers described 'hearing screams' as the vehicle drove 'at speed' through the shopping centre. The centre was evacuated and all shops were closed. One woman is being treated at the scene for shock, and no injuries have been reported at this stage. The vehicle left the shopping centre and was last seen travelling towards Wood Street, and currently remains outstanding. The incident marks the second time in nearly a month that Northland Shopping Centre has been forced into lockdown. Last month, a brawl involving the use of machetes resulted in the evacuation of the shopping centre and the passing of a sweeping anti-machete ban by the Victorian government. More to come
