Raja Saab: A Look At The Grand Set Of Prabhas's Haunted Palace In The Film

New Delhi: Prabhas-led Raja Saab - India's biggest horror-comedy set brings a haunted 200-year-old palace to life. Located just a few kilometres from Hyderabad, this massive mansion spans over 42,000 square feet and is entirely hand-built, not VFX-created. The palace plays a crucial role in the film, adding a unique visual appeal that director Maruthi describes as "a character in itself." Built at a massive cost over two months, this grand set has stood for more than a year - and will remain for a few more months as filming continues. "It's a Prabhas film. Everything had to be larger than life, just like the actor. That's what the audience expects, and that's what we've created," Maruthi told exclusively to NDTV. The palace is no ordinary film set. It features rooms that look straight out of a gothic novel - a black magic room with real fire burning (managed under strict safety protocols), a torture chamber, a sprawling library, eerie corridors lined with hanging roots, and bedrooms that could belong to a forgotten royal. Every detail, from handmade pillars to realistic trees and roots, was designed to make you feel like you're inside an actual haunted palace. The production design team revealed that the inspiration came from years of reading, travelling, and sketching. "Old houses we've seen while traveling, books we've read - all of that shaped this palace. It's a huge team effort. I get the credit, but over 1,000 people worked on this, and countless drafts and sketches were made before we arrived at the final design," the team head shared. Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, hits cinemas on December 5, 2025.

The teaser was officially unveiled on June 16.'The Raja Saab's' team worked round the clock to get the film ready for its December 5 release. At the teaser release of the Maruthi-directed horror-comedy in Hyderabad on Monday, the makers discussed the long schedule of the film and also addressed India Today's question around film crews toiling extremely long producer, TG Vishwa Prasad, opened up about the challenges of shooting a big-budget film, to which he replied, 'It's already public how the film took two and a half years. The first difficult thing that we executed was that we had our big schedule post Kalki starting by end of July-mid August to all the way to end of December. I don't know how Maruthi managed. He started at 6 am and ends at 11 am and continued this for more than 120 days.' He went on to add that it's a grand film with a high-on-drama 40-minute climax. TG Vishwa Prasad also revealed that it took around 300 days to achieve the VFX and how 'The Raja Saab' has the largest indoor set in the the video here: advertisementTaking on from his revelation, India Today asked director Maruthi about working long hours on this film and whether the film industry can afford shifts. The director clarified that while his actors worked only around 8 hours, he and his crew worked double shifts to pull the film explained, 'What happens, they (actors) will work an 8-hour shift. I will keep some actors on one side (shift) and then [shoot with] some actors. But we (the crew) will work 18 hours a day: from morning, 6 am to 10 pm, we used to work definitely. That is why this much quality and content we could shoot.'Here's the clip: Pointing towards his director of photography and production designer, he added how the entire team worked really hard and once audiences see the film, they will realise how much effort it according to recent reports, Deepika Padukone asked for a strict eight-hour work shift to sign Prabhas-led 'Spirit', but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga refused to oblige. While the deal between them fell flat, it definitely sparked industry-wide debate: the need to have work shifts and whether it is even feasible for a creative industry to have strict schedules.'The Raja Saab' also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malvika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal.

Tamannaah Bhatia reacts to accidental Instagram likes amid Deepika-Vanga ‘Spirit' controversy

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to clear the air about an unexpected situation on her social media — the platform seemingly 'liking pages on its own. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now ' In a candid selfie post, the 'Jailer' actress wrote, 'Can Instagram pls figure out how it likes pages on its own, cause random people are making it news and I have work to do.' What's the incident? This comes after fans noticed Tamannaah's account had liked an Instagram reel featuring Deepika Padukone, which touched on sensitive topics like gender pay gaps, unprofessional work environments, and misogyny. The timing raised eyebrows, as Deepika is currently embroiled in a public fallout with filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga over the upcoming Prabhas-led film 'Spirit'. Similar to Virat incident Interestingly, Tamannaah's situation mirrors an earlier incident where cricketer Virat Kohli faced similar scrutiny after his verified account liked a fan post dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur. Kohli also addressed the matter on his Instagram Story, explaining that the app's algorithm might have accidentally registered an interaction while he was 'clearing his feed.' The Deepika-Vanga Fallout Meanwhile, the Spirit controversy continues to stir headlines. Recently, Vanga shared a cryptic post on X, venting frustration over a female actor's sudden exit from his film — widely believed to be Deepika Padukone. Without naming anyone, Vanga wrote, 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100 per cent faith… You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it.' Deepika, initially cast opposite Prabhas, reportedly stepped away from the project amid swirling rumors — including allegations about the Spirit plot leaking and drawing similarities to the Tamil hit Theri. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now No official confirmation has surfaced tying Padukone to the leak. Following her exit, the makers announced that Triptii Dimri, fresh off her acclaimed role in Vanga's 'Animal', will take on the female lead. Triptii expressed her excitement on social media, calling it an 'honour' to join Vanga's vision. Prabhas starrer 'Spirit' remains one of 2025's most anticipated films. On the other hand, Prabhas was last seen in 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Has Deepika Padukone exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Prabhas-starrer, Spirit? The alleged reason may shock you

Arjun Reddy (2017) , Kabir Singh (2019) and Animal (2023) may have sparked nationwide debates with their respective releases, on the divide of responsible filmmaking — but Sandeep Reddy Vanga has sworn by the rugged, and pretty questionable trajectories of each of his three on-screen prodigies. The controversial director is currently in the process of mounting two passion projects — Animal Park, the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal, with Ranbir Kapoor set to reprise his role as the lead; and the Prabhas-led Spirit. Now between the two, Animal Park has been hogging all the limelight owing to multiple theories floating about how its plot may or may not progress from the first. Spirit on the other hand, for better or worse, feels pretty under wraps considering all there is to go off of, is an announcement poster. Either which way, Deepika Padukone was brought on board for the film, to star opposite Prabhas, marking a reunion of sorts after the on-screen duo's much publicised Kalki 2898 AD camaraderie. Well, seems like fans of the good looking pair will have to hit pause on their dreams of seeing them together again. If reports from Telugu portals like Gulte are to be believed, Deepika may just have pulled herself out of Spirit. The reason? Pretty complicated. A TOI report elaborates how the new mother's expectations were to work 8 hours a day, 6 of them being shoot time. Supplement this with the fact that she reportedly asked for a fee of ₹20 crores, in addition to profit-sharing in the film and an alleged refusal to deliver her lines in Telugu, things were appearing tough in terms of moving forward. The same report also asserts that Sandeep is now on the look out for a new female lead for the film. It is worth mentioning here, that neither Deepika nor Sandeep have confirmed the news yet.
