Prabhas's Raja Saab makers say they shot for 16-18 hours amid 8-hour shift debate
At the teaser launch of Prabhas's upcoming film 'The Raja Saab', the producers weighed in on the ongoing debate around the proposed eight-hour work shift in the industry. They revealed that they had been working 16 to 18 hours a day to achieve the desired outcome. The teaser was officially unveiled on June 16.'The Raja Saab's' team worked round the clock to get the film ready for its December 5 release. At the teaser release of the Maruthi-directed horror-comedy in Hyderabad on Monday, the makers discussed the long schedule of the film and also addressed India Today's question around film crews toiling extremely long hours.advertisementThe producer, TG Vishwa Prasad, opened up about the challenges of shooting a big-budget film, to which he replied, 'It's already public how the film took two and a half years. The first difficult thing that we executed was that we had our big schedule post Kalki starting by end of July-mid August to all the way to end of December. I don't know how Maruthi managed. He started at 6 am and ends at 11 am and continued this for more than 120 days.'
He went on to add that it's a grand film with a high-on-drama 40-minute climax. TG Vishwa Prasad also revealed that it took around 300 days to achieve the VFX and how 'The Raja Saab' has the largest indoor set in the world.Watch the video here: advertisementTaking on from his revelation, India Today asked director Maruthi about working long hours on this film and whether the film industry can afford shifts. The director clarified that while his actors worked only around 8 hours, he and his crew worked double shifts to pull the film off.He explained, 'What happens, they (actors) will work an 8-hour shift. I will keep some actors on one side (shift) and then [shoot with] some actors. But we (the crew) will work 18 hours a day: from morning, 6 am to 10 pm, we used to work definitely. That is why this much quality and content we could shoot.'Here's the clip: Pointing towards his director of photography and production designer, he added how the entire team worked really hard and once audiences see the film, they will realise how much effort it took.Meanwhile, according to recent reports, Deepika Padukone asked for a strict eight-hour work shift to sign Prabhas-led 'Spirit', but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga refused to oblige. While the deal between them fell flat, it definitely sparked industry-wide debate: the need to have work shifts and whether it is even feasible for a creative industry to have strict schedules.'The Raja Saab' also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malvika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal.

Sonakshi Sinha supports Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand, reacts to her exit from Spirit: 'It's very fair reason'
The debate around a structured work environment and an eight-hour shift for actors began in the industry after Deepika Padukone reportedly exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit due to her demands for the same not being met. Since then, many actors have weighed in on the issue. Now, in an interview with India Today, Sonakshi Sinha has also backed Deepika, stating that everyone needs time for themselves. Sonakshi Sinha reacts to Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand. Supporting Deepika, Sonakshi said she's fully in favour of the eight-hour work shift and, reacting to Deepika's reported exit from Spirit, added, "I don't even know if it's true or not. But if it is, it's a very fair reason. I've worked with actors who don't work beyond eight hours. So, I don't see why it should be any different for female actors as well. It also depends on the requirements of the project and all. You can schedule it in a way that accommodates those hours. There are a lot of other things to shoot with other people, which you can finish off in the same time. I think it's very achievable." She said that in her 15 years in the industry, she has met actors who worked less than her and sometimes actors who worked longer hours, and added, "That's fine. But like, you do need time for yourself beyond the shoot as well. Today, if I'm doing a film where I'm required to be extremely fit, I need those two hours to go to the gym. Well, if you put me on set for 12 to 14 hours, I won't be able to do it. If I don't need to do that, I'll give you 12 hours happily. I'll give you 10 hours happily. But where it's not required, then I'm sure adjustments can be made.' Deepika had reportedly made a few demands before exiting Vanga's Spirit, which included an eight-hour workday, a share in the film's profits, and not speaking her dialogues in Telugu. The director reportedly declined these requests. Later, Deepika was replaced by Triptii Dimri as the lead opposite Prabhas. Sonakshi Sinha's upcoming movie Sonakshi will next be seen in Nikita Roy, directed by her brother and debutant filmmaker Kussh S Sinha. The supernatural thriller also stars Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal and Suhail Nayyar in key roles and is scheduled for theatrical release on 27 June 2025. The film is set to clash at the box office with Kajol's horror film Maa, backed by Ajay Devgn.

Cinema is a respectful and dignified space. But he should be careful with what he says.' What DK Shivakumar said At that event, Shivakumar had also referred to the low turnout of Sandalwood celebrities at the Congress-led Mekedatu padayatra in 2022, making a pointed remark, 'Consider this a request or a warning. If the government does not cooperate, no film or shooting will happen. We know where to tighten the nuts and bolts and for whom.' Sardaarji 3 Producer Defends Hania Aamir's Casting: ‘Shot Before India-Pak Conflict'
Last Updated: Diljit Dosanjh faces backlash for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, which won't release in India due to tensions. Diljit Dosanjh is facing criticism for featuring opposite Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3. The trailer, which dropped on June 22, 2025, revealed that the movie won't release in India and will instead premiere overseas due to current India-Pakistan tensions. Many fans were upset with Hania's casting, especially after her alleged comments following Operation Sindoor. Social media users called Diljit 'insensitive" and 'shameless" for including her in the film. Reacting to the backlash, the film's producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu defended it. He told India Today, 'The film was shot before the conflict with Pakistan. Keeping sentiments on Indian in mind, no India release for the movie." The trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 is currently not accessible on YouTube in India. Viewers trying to watch it are met with a message that reads: 'The uploader has not made this video available in your country." This appears to be in line with the film's decision to skip an India release due to ongoing tensions, as confirmed by the producers. Diljit's casting alongside popular Pakistani actor Hania Aamir (as well as Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar and Saleem Albela) ahead of an India release is stirring a big controversy ahead of its June 27 release. Sharing the trailer on social media, Diljit clarified that it is releasing overseas only. He wrote, 'Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN." On June 11, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) called on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification to Sardaar Ji 3 over the casting of Pakistani actors. Alongside Hania Aamir, the film also features Pakistani artistes Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela. Following the request and growing controversy, the makers appear to have decided to forgo a theatrical release in India and instead release the film only in overseas markets to avoid further hurdles. Hania Aamir's Instagram handle is also currently inaccessible in India, likely due to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. She had reportedly made anti-India remarks in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor — the military operation launched by India on May 7, targeting nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The mission was carried out in response to the deadly terror attack on Indian soldiers in Pahalgam. First Published:
