Actor Madhoo on Deepika's exit from Spirit: Would've stayed if she really wanted it

Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit', where she was to star alongside Prabhas, has sparked debates across the industry. Many celebrities have come forward in support of the actor, and the latest to do so is 'Phool Aur Kaante' star Madhoo a conversation with News18 Showsha, the actor said it was Deepika's personal choice and not something to argue about. 'It is not about having conflicts and constantly fighting. Everything in life is negotiation, and one must know their worth," she further added, 'Deepika is a new mother; she needs time, and she asked for it. The person on the other side didn't accept, so it didn't work out. If Deepika wanted the movie so badly and was willing to make other arrangements, she would have accepted it, but she did not, and that's her personal choice. So, I don't see a big reason for debate." When asked whether other filmmakers would accommodate Deepika's eight-hour work shift request, Madhoo said, "I ask for something, you don't want to give it, and then you let me go. And that's it. That's the way I see this situation. If she wants an eight-hour workday, there are others who would be willing to take her on that call. And that deal will materialise. This deal didn't materialise. We negotiate every day on a project. Some people pay, some don't. And when you want it very badly, you compromise. When you don't, you say, 'Sorry, I'm not doing it.' It's a personal choice. It's a negotiation."advertisementFollowing the birth of her first child, Deepika reportedly exited Vanga's 'Spirit'. According to reports, she had requested an eight-hour workday, share in the film's profit, and an exemption from Telugu dialogues. These requests were declined by the director, which sparked widespread industry also expressed her appreciation for women in the industry who are challenging norms, emphasising that their actions are paving the way for future is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming Telugu film 'Kannappa', directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh of 'Home Sweet Home' and 'Teacher'. The film features an ensemble cast including Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar.
