Seven men charged after pair in hospital after Iranian embassy protest
London London Seven men have been charged after two people were injured during a protest outside the Iranian embassy, police have said. Officers from the Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a fight in Princes Gate in Knightsbridge, west London, shortly after 9.50am on Friday. Two men involved in an altercation outside the embassy, aged 37 and 39, were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Eight people have now been arrested in connection with the incident, including the 39-year-old. Seven of those arrested were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent on Saturday, a force spokesperson said. The men, who are all Iranian nationals, have been remanded into custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday. Those charged are: Mohammad Nadiri, 30, of Central Street, Islington; Pourrezaei Vahid, 41, of Hamlet Square, Cricklewood; Armin Hasanlov, 35, of Prescot Road, Liverpool; Esmaeil Balouchy, 50, of Brent Lea, Brentford; Saeed Hosseingholipoor, 34, of Wilkins Close, Mitcham; Farzin Suleimani, 31, of Selsey Road, Birmingham; Aref Yazdan Parast, 31, of Worton Road, Isleworth. The Met has previously said the incident is thought to have involved protesters 'pro and anti-Iranian regime'. Police have imposed conditions to stop protesters from gathering in the area until 1pm on Sunday. Footage shared on social media appeared to show two men lying on the ground in a fenced-off section of the road. One man, who was shirtless, had blood covering his nose and mouth, while the other man lay motionless clutching his left leg and ankle, with police officers attending both individuals. A number of national embassies are located on or near Princes Gate, including the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Seven charged with 'grievous bodily harm' after Iranian Embassy clash in London
Seven men have been charged with grievous bodily harm following a violent altercation outside the Iranian Embassy in London, during what authorities said was a protest that escalated into a physical assault. According to the Metropolitan Police, officers responded to reports of a fight outside the embassy on Princes Gate, in Knightsbridge, west London, shortly after 09:50 am (local time) on Friday. The officers, who were already on duty outside the embassy, quickly intervened, and further reinforcements were deployed to control the situation. Two men, aged 37 and 39, were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. According to the Metropolitan Police, eight people were arrested in connection with the incident, including the 39-year-old injured man. By Saturday, seven of those arrested were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. All are Iranian nationals. They have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 23. The men charged were identified by the police as Mohammad Nadiri, 30; Pourrezaei Vahid, 41; Armin Hasanlov, 35; Esmaeil Balouchy, 50; Saeed Hosseingholipoor, 34; Farzin Suleimani, 31; and Aref Yazdan Parast, 31. The eighth person arrested remains in hospital and has been bailed pending further investigation, the Metropolitan Police said. In response to the incident and in an effort to prevent further disorder, police have imposed conditions to restrict protests near the Iranian Embassy. These restrictions remain in place until 01:00 pm (local time) on Sunday.

Seven Iranian nationals have been charged with causing grevious bodily harm (GBH) after two pro-Israel protestors were attacked outside the Iran embassy in London. Police arrested eight people after two men were set upon outside the embassy, opposite Hyde Park, just before 10am on Friday. The force say two men, aged 37 and 39, were taken to hospital with 'serious but non-life threatening injuries'. Officers and paramedics swooped on Princes Gate, Knightsbridge, scrambling to detain suspects and treat the injured activists on Friday morning. Witnesses told MailOnline on Friday how pro-Israeli protesters were chanting support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and calling for the Iranian regime to be toppled before violence erupted and two of the activists were attacked. It comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Iran and Israel locked in a brutal conflict that has continued to escalate. Dramatic pictures from the scene showed the protesters being treated by paramedics on stretchers and receiving oxygen, while the alleged attackers were seen being hauled away in handcuffs. The Iranian Embassy became a focal point for protests in 2022 after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody. After the altercation, a spokesman for the Met Police said: 'At 09:53hrs on Friday, June 20, officers responded to reports of an altercation in Princes Gate, SW1. 'Six men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm – they remain in police custody. 'Two men were treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital for further treatment by the London Ambulance Service. 'Police have cordoned off the area while initial investigations take place.' A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 9.56am today (June 20) to reports of an assault in Princes Gate, SW7. 'We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars and our Tactical Response Unit. 'We treated two patients at the scene and took one to hospital and one to a major trauma centre.'
