Corsham in Wiltshire has once again been turned into a TV backdrop, but it still isn't the most popular spot in the Cotswolds. Its old-fashioned look makes it the perfect backdrop for period dramas - which is why it's been used by two separate productions. The cast of Rivals have most recently returned to Corsham according to the BBC with stars like David Tennant, Emily Atack and Danny Dyer returning to the town. In the high street, the shop fronts have been tweaked to appear in the time period of the late 1980s. The local Boots has been turned into an old-fashioned Waitrose and the town hall has been transformed into a polling station. Classic cars have also been seen lining the streets to give the impression of the 1980s. This isn't the first time that Corsham has seen A-list actors in its streets, it was where half of Poldark was filmed. Corsham was transformed into 18th century Truro when Aidan Turner, dressed as Captain Ross Poldark, came to the town. During this time, there were horses in the streets, cattle and even sheep. The Flemish Weaves pub was the base for the leading actors, while the extras ended up staying at the Town Hall. Around the town there are peacocks that roam the streets freely. Their actual home is in Corsham Court, but they do sometimes head into the town too. There are plenty of extravagant places too including Corsham Court. The privately owned stately home has a huge art collection, there are also huge gardens - which you can explore for a fee of £12.50. Another is 23 Pickwick which is a Grade II listed country home in Corsham - and you can even book it out. It has a sweeping staircase, an open fire and sash windows. The cottage is a short drive away from the Georgian Spa town of Bath, which features in many of the outdoor scenes in Bridgerton. The city of Bath is just a 30-minute drive, which is where parts of the Bridgerton series were filmed, and it's the only UNESCO site in the country. In Corsham is also home to The Pound Arts theatre where locals regularly put on performances. There are also comedy shows, busking and showings of films. Here's a Bridgerton-like manor that you can stay in with all your mates in the UK - with its own lake and cinema room. And Sun Travel visited the tiny English village you can only visit once a year.

Netflix drops every episode of 'suspense-filled' period drama with Line of Duty
Netflix has added two seasons of a period drama starring Line of Duty's Gina McKee, with heaps of praise from viewers who have already watched all 10 episodes. The Forsyte Saga will be catnip for fans of Downton Abbey, with a similar time period and even premise, as the show chronicles the lives of three generations of the wealthy Forsyte family. Based on Nobel Prize winner John Galsworthy's novel, the show is a sweeping portrait of the well-off British family in 1880s London, running up to 1920. This Bafta-winning adaptation – which is now available in its entirety to stream on Netflix – was originally released in 2002 on ITV, with a cast including Wolf Hall's Damian Lewis as well as Gina McKee. The novel had previously been adapted for TV by the BBC in 1967 and was watched by audiences of up to 18 million – in the heyday of terrestrial TV. Lewis stars in the drama as Soames Forsyte – an uptight man in an evolving London – who is married to Gina McKee's chilly character Irene, who quite openly marries for money and loathes her husband. She strives to redefine herself as a woman in a changing England. The rest of The Forsyte Saga is one of rivalries, resentments and sumptuous manor houses, set against the dying embers of the British Empire. 'It's a family of power that saw its world crumbling around it,' Lewis told The New York Times in an interview on the show. 'It's a moment in time encapsulated by Downton Abbey and The Forsyte Saga that people really respond to, I think.' Viewers have shared their glowing reviews of the show on Google, with Reba Hatfield describing it as a plot that evolves over 'suspense-filled episodes'. 'Tour de force performances from the entire cast,' wrote Bill Ranieri in his review. 'Very moving story with many emotional moments. Worth the trouble. Old Jolyon was a favorite of mine.' More Trending Kitty Black added: 'I love to watch this every 5 or 10 years. Long enough so I don't remember everything. It's such a top notch production. The costumes, the properties, the drama of it all just sweeps you into another time.' It comes amid another adaptation of Galsworthy's novel for Channel 5, starring Doctor Who's Millie Gibson and Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson. This third TV version was confirmed by Deadline, with Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield on board as the writer of the adaption, which is set to become a returning series. Beautiful UK beach 'rivals Spanish coastline' with white sands and clear waters
A breathtaking UK beach has been named a firm contender for Spain's sandy shores thanks to its beautiful setting and crystal-clear waters The UK may not always be able to rival the sun-soaked weather you'll find in Spain, but our coastline is definitely giving the holiday hotspot a run for its money. In fact, there's one breathtaking UK beach that's been hailed as a competitor to Spanish shores, thanks to its pristine white sands, turquoise waters and picture-perfect surroundings that wouldn't be out of place on a postcard. Throw in the plethora of nearby hotels, restaurants and bars, and it's not difficult to see why Porthcurno Beach in Cornwall is such a hit with Brits planning a staycation. The National Trust site gets its white sands from the soft shells that form its shores, while the crystal-clear waters and freshwater stream make it a must-visit on those hot summer days. Wildlife fans may also want to keep their eyes peeled for the variety of birds that call the region home, not to mention you can even spot basking sharks and dolphins between May and October. The travel experts at have named it as one of their go-to 'dupes' for Spain, explaining: "If you're looking for a beach in the UK that offers white sand, dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters and lush greenery similar to the Costa Brava in north-east Spain, then head to Porthcurno Beach in Cornwall. "Reminiscent of a tropical paradise, the beach is framed by towering cliffs, providing a peaceful retreat from the wind, and a scenic backdrop that enhances its secluded and calm atmosphere. Lastly, the beach's clear waters make it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and exploring marine life." Over on Tripadvisor, visitors have plenty of positive reviews of the shoreline, although a few have warned that the nearby car park can fill up quickly so you may want to have a few alternatives in your back pocket if you are planning to visit. "What a lovely beach," wrote one happy holidaymaker. "Fairly small bay with clean sand. It has quite a steep drop off so isn't great for children playing in the surf. It has toilets, a cafe and car park very close." Another added: "A must do on your trip to Cornwall. Parking is difficult so plan ahead. The sea positively sparkles in the sunlight. It's one of the most picturesque spots on the island." For one holidaymaker, even some bad luck with the weather couldn't affect the beauty of the area. They wrote: "Just stunning. One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. First time at Porthcurno and will definitely be returning. Just hope it doesn't rain this time." Meanwhile, fans of the hit TV show Poldark may also recognise the spectacular coastline, as it served as a filming location. According to the National Trust, it doubled up as Nampara Cove in the first season, as well as the second series where it provided the backdrop for a dream sequence in which Demelza and Ross enjoy a stroll. There's plenty to see and do in the area too. One major highlight has to be the iconic Minack Theatre, a unique outdoor theatre that's built into the cliffs and overlooks sea, making for some seriously Instagram-worthy views. Meanwhile hikers may want to don their sturdy boots and take on one of the countless trails along the cliffs; the South West Coastal Path passes through the region if you're looking to tick it off the bucket list!
