Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle issued a resounding statement of support for a suspended FIA steward. Brundle, a former Formula 1 driver, commented on the suspension of Derek Warwick, who was not allowed to work at the Canadian Grand Prix. "He is a salt of the earth genuine guy. He's done so much for young racers and motorsport in general. Not least as an FIA Steward. "He has my absolute support and friendship until my last breath." Not least as an FIA Steward. He has my absolute support and friendship until my last… — Martin Brundle OBE (@MBrundleF1) June 14, 2025 Brundle's statement excludes any comment on what Warwick did to merit the suspension, but instead focuses on the character of the steward. The FIA suspended Warwick for making comments about drivers on the grid publicly, specifically Max Verstappen's Spanish Grand Prix penalty. Also, his comments were not published by an established media outlet, but rather provided by a PR agency. The agency offers Warwick's comments to publishers in exchange for the credit going to a gambling company, in this case Plejmo. Plejmo uses these recognitions as an atypical marketing tool, getting the company's name out on the internet. Warwick never spoke with Plejmo; instead, he got paid for an interview with the PR company. After the FIA discovered the nature and source of the public comments, the governing body suspended Warwick for the race in Canada. "Following recent unauthorised media comments, the FIA has taken the decision to suspend Derek Warwick from his duties as driver steward for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix," an FIA statement read. "He will be replaced by Enrique Bernoldi, who will be officiating from the Remote Operations Centre in Geneva for the remainder of the event. "After discussion, Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologised. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix." Another steward was in a similar situation. FIA official Johnny Herbert served as a steward, but he was removed from the role. Herbert offered quotes to a gambling website, prompting action from the FIA, ruling Herbet's role as media "incompatible" with the role of a race official. FIA stewards are unpaid volunteers currently, doing the work out of a sense of duty rather than monetary gain. Given the lack of financial gain in the role, stewards are often left looking for alternative sources of income.

Martin Brundle vows to defend suspended F1 steward 'until my last breath'
Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle has promised to support Derek Warwick 'until my last breath' after the FIA steward was suspended. On Friday, motorsport's governing body announced that Warwick had been stood down from his role as a steward for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix. Earlier in the week, the former Formula 1 driver gave an interview to Plejmo in which he discussed a wide range of topics including Max Verstappen's controversial crash with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix. 'Following recent unauthorised media comments, the FIA has taken the decision to suspend Derek Warwick from his duties as driver steward for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix,' a statement read. 'He will be replaced by Enrique Bernoldi who will be officiating from the Remote Operations Centre in Geneva for the remainder of the event. 'After discussion, Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologised. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix.' The FIA have been looking to clamp down on officials giving interviews like Warwick did, with Johnny Herbert notably sacked from his role in January. The three-time F1 race winner publicly criticised Verstappen's driving at last year's Mexico City Grand Prix – a race he had been a steward for – with the FIA saying Herbert's 'duties as an FIA steward and that of a media pundit were incompatible'. This latest incident has seen Warwick criticised by fans, leading to Brundle, who raced against his fellow Brit in the 1980s and 1990s, leaping to his defence. 'Derek Warwick is one of the most genuine and passionate people and racers I have ever known,' Brundle wrote on Twitter. 'He is a salt of the earth genuine guy. He's done so much for young racers and motorsport in general. Not least as an FIA Steward. More Trending 'He has my absolute support and friendship until my last breath.' Derek Warwick raced in Formula 1 from 1980 to 1991, before briefly returning in 1993, recording four podium finishes. He notably won the World Sportscar Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1992 before retiring from racing in 2007. He became an F1 driver steward in 2010, with the role of advising other stewards on incidents from a driver's perspective. He was a steward at the Miami Grand Prix in May and is slated to work at seven more races in 2025. It is not the content of what Derek Warwick said that has lead to his suspension but rather that the interview was not authorised by the FIA. Touching on a number of topics, here is a snippet of the interview via Plejmo: On Max Verstappen and George Russell's crash: 'I can see why Max got angry, because I think he thought he was hard done by with Charles [Leclerc] on the straight and I think he thought he was hard done by George. 'Should he have done what he did, in turn 5 with George? Absolutely not. Did he get a penalty for it? Yes. 'He got 10 seconds and 3 points, which only brings him 1 point away from a race ban. Should it have been harsher? I think they got it about right actually.' On if Verstappen will leave Red Bull: 'Well obviously he's talking to every team, but when you say every team, that's only really McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, and maybe Aston Martin 'Aston would be a big gamble, but they do have Adrian Newey there. I think the big, big paycheck would come from Aston Martin if that's what he's interested in. I think at the end of the day he'll stay at Red Bull.' On Lewis Hamilton's struggles: I don't know why Lewis Hamilton can't get going in a Ferrari. I think that's an enigma really. I think people underestimate, including Lewis, maybe how difficult it is to join a new team. 'Do I want Lewis to win races and challenge for the World Championship? Yes. I think he deserves it. I think he deserves that 8th world title.' On the 2025 title fight: 'I think Oscar Piastri is the complete deal, and I think he's got on top of that car. 'I think Lando Norris needs to change a few things, mentally, in order not to make these silly mistakes. If he does then for sure Lando can be world champion, but it will either be Lando or Oscar.' F1 steward suspended from Canadian GP after Max Verstappen penalty comments
The FIA announced Friday evening that steward Derek Warwick has been suspended from his duties for the remainder of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. Enrique Bernoldi, a former Formula One driver from the early 2000s, will replace him and officiate 'from the Remote Operations Centre in Geneva,' according to the governing body. Advertisement The move comes after Warwick, who competed in F1 from 1981 to 1993, made 'unauthorized media comments' recently, with reports surfacing earlier this week that the he spoke about a wide range of topics on the gambling site Plejmo, including about Max Verstappen's Spanish Grand Prix penalty that's placed the Dutchman one penalty point away from a race ban. 'Should it have been harsher? I think they got it about right, actually,' Warwick said to Plejmo about the FIA's 10-second penalty on Verstappen for causing a collision with George Russell in Spain. 'I think a lot of people would say he should have got a ban as an example to young karters, and they are probably right, but I feel the penalty was spot on.' 'You've got to look at each individual incident on their own merit. I thought it was very questionable. It's not what I like to see.' The FIA added in its statement, 'After discussion, Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologised. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix.' This is not the first time that the governing body has taken action on stewards making media remarks in recent years. Last season, Johnny Herbert and the FIA mutually agreed his role as a steward was 'incompatible' with his media duties. He raced in F1 from 1989 to 2000 and later became a pundit for Sky Sports in 2012. He left the role in 2022 but remained an analyst, speaking with betting sites. He had made numerous public comments about incidents he oversaw as a steward, which raised concerns within the FIA. Driver stewards play a powerful role in an F1 weekend. While there have been calls for permanent stewards from time to time for consistency reasons, it remains a rotating panel, each race weekend consisting of four individuals. Race control typically notes when incidents happen, and it's the race director who sends it to the stewards. The final judgement falls with the stewards, who are akin to referees. The regulations give guidelines on what penalties are available; however, the stewards decide the infringements and sanctions. The bottom of each decision document states: 'Decisions of the Stewards are taken independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines and evidence presented.' Darren Till reveals Jake Paul fight date as ex-UFC star lays out boxing hit-list
The former UFC star scored a big win over Darren Stewart earlier this month and the Liverpudlian is now planning on staying busy inside the ring Darren Till wants at least two more fights this year and is eyeing up a blockbuster showdown with Jake Paul in 2026. The ex-UFC welterweight title challenger has been a breath of fresh air since joining Misfits boxing. Till scored a brutal knockout victory over Anthony Taylor in January on his debut before outpointing Darren Stewart earlier this month. With the Liverpudlian naturally on cloud nine following the win over Stewart, Till is now plotting his next moves and has his eyes on a couple of big names. The 32-year-old aims to take on either Mike Perry or Jorge Masvidal in his beloved city of Liverpool, followed by a contest with Julio Chavez Jr later in the year. Till is keen to settle his rivalry with Masvidal after their 2019 UFC encounter ended with 'Gamebred' delivering a knockout blow in London. Speaking about his ambitions for the remainder of 2025, Till told Plejmo: "Let's bring Misfits now to Liverpool. We haven't brought it to Liverpool. Let's do a main event. Let's do a pay-per-view with a massive star from either America or England, preferably America. "A Mike Perry or a Jorge Masvidal, get that done. Get the win in the bag again, have a little bit of time off, and then look towards a f****** barnstormer at the end of the year, if it could be Chavez Jr." Chavez Jr is set to enter the ring with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul next month. Should the Mexican come away from the bout unscathed, a potential fight with Till be on the cards. The pair were due to fight last year, but the bout was scrapped after Paul's showdown with Mike Tyson was postponed. Till has expressed his eagerness for a major clash with Paul next year, outlining a potential path: "Yes, I'd definitely fight Chavez Jr. Let's say we then do a co-promotion, me and Misfits against Chavez, and then obviously set it up for Jake Paul, let's say the first quarter of next year," he said. "That's the perfect road. So let's say, fight at the end of the summer against Jorge Masvidal or Mike Perry. And then we set that up [against Chavez] at the end of the year. Then that's me on their [MVP] promotion next year in late March against Jake Paul, then there's maybe one or two fights there with Tommy or Logan Paul." After enduring several severe injuries over the last few years, the former UFC star is keen to make up for lost time and is aiming to stay active in the ring. "I would like to fight two more times [this year]. I've had two fights, two more times, so that's four fights. So obviously, that's one at the end of the summer now and then one in the winter," said Till. "To be totally honest with you, I'm saying four times, but if I can make it five times this year, if there's a pull out on a big show. I'll step in because I'm going to stay active." With a clash against Paul potentially on the cards in the future, Till anticipates he would pocket over $5million. In an exclusive interview with All Out Fighting, when asked whether a fight with the 'Problem Child' would appeal to him, the Brit replied: "Well, that's an interesting question… who wouldn't want a fight with Jake? "Of course I would welcome a fight with Jake. We're talking five million plus." On the topic of a potential Paul vs Till showdown, Misfits supremo Mams Taylor told All Out Fighting: "I do think there's going to be a lot of conversations about Darren Till as a potential Jake Paul opponent… not that Jake Paul has expressed interest, but if everything goes to Darren's plan this year, it's going to be hard not to have that conversation for fans. They've already brought it up. Darren is really naturally similar to Jake's weight. They're about the same weight class. I'd say off-season/ on-season, when they're fighting in-between camps, I think they've got a lot of similarities."

15 discontinued McDonald's menu items Brits want to see return
McDonald's discontinued menu items do occasionally return, and now a new study has analysed 65 of Brits' favourite dishes to judge which ones are most missed. The Chicken Big Mac topped the list, generating almost 10,000 monthly searches. Other popular items in the rankings include the Double Big Mac, Biscoff McFlurry, and the Big Tasty. The research, carried out by Plejmo, analysed online search volumes for 65 discontinued McDonald's items, ranging from the Halloumi Fries to the McHotDog. The study examined average monthly searches in the UK over the past year and revealed the items customers are most eager to see return. The data analysis highlighted a strong interest in the Chicken Big Mac among the UK public, a chicken-based twist on the classic Big Mac, with an average of 9,836 monthly searches. Recently launched for a limited time in the US in October, and popular in Canada, the burger previously had a short-lived UK release in 2022, where it sold out in just ten days. The Chicken Big Mac featured a triple bun, crispy chicken patties, cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, and Big Mac sauce, all at 530 calories. Available for just two weeks in November 2024, this fan-favourite featured four 100% British and Irish beef patties, Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame bun, packing a hefty 740 calories. It was priced at £5.39 on its own or £7.19 as part of a meal. Next on the list is the Biscoff McFlurry, which receives 5,322 monthly searches. Originally introduced to menus in July 2023, it was discontinued after just six weeks. McDonald's has unveiled one of its 'most requested collabs', a Biscoff range including a Biscoff McFlurry, Biscoff shake and Biscoff Coffee Frappe. Despite only being available for a few weeks, fans are anticipating another comeback this spring. Whether in its regular, spicy, or with bacon-topped version, the Big Tasty remains a UK favourite, attracting an average of 4,050 monthly searches. While not drastically different from a typical McDonald's burger, it stands out with Emmental cheese and smoky sauce. At 799 calories, the Big Tasty was last available in restaurants in 2024, with a meal priced at approximately £7.59. Hey @McDonalds Since it's the season of good will to all men, can you please consider bringing the Big Tasty stateside? I've never ever seen it over here since living in NY… and I miss it dearly from back home in the UK. I think it's a smart move to run it as a trial. 😏 — Nick - 𝕏 🛸 (@nickyducky) November 29, 2024 In fifth place is the Big Breakfast, which receives 3,583 monthly searches as fans continue to call for its return after being discontinued in 2016. First introduced in the 1990s, the meal featured a hash brown, scrambled egg, sausage patty, and a toasted muffin, containing just over 1,000 calories. While it remains unavailable in the UK, it can still be found on US menus, with online petitions pushing for its comeback. Other menu items missed by customers include: Steakhouse Stack Chicken Legend Skittles McFlurry Chilli Cheese Bites Breakfast Bagel Halloumi Fries Kit Kat McFlurry Creme Egg McFlurry Toffee Sundae McArabia Recommended reading: Discontinued chocolates still available in UK stores Cadbury issues update on return of Spira chocolate bar The cheapest supermarket for pancake ingredients may come as a surprise Max Dahlquist from Plejmo said of the research: "Since opening its first UK restaurant in the 1970s, McDonald's has offered a variety of limited-edition items, from fan favourites like the Chicken Fajita wrap, Galaxy McFlurry, and McRib to more unique choices such as the forgotten Onion Nuggets. 'Despite being discontinued, many of these items still spark significant online search interest years after their removal. This continued demand highlights the emotional connection people have with these nostalgic foods. "It also shows the power of consumer desire, proving that with the right touch, McDonald's can bring these beloved items back and reignite excitement.'
