Stung by repeated cheating cases, Haryana introduces AI to monitor Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test
1 2 3 Rohtak: Stung by repeated incidents of candidates using unfair means to clear entrance exams, Haryana govt is now going to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) surveillance for its upcoming teacher eligibility test — a first for the state. The Haryana Board of School Education has completed all preparations for the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET), scheduled to be held on July 26 and 27. Speaking to the press on Thursday, board chairman Pawan Kumar revealed that over 4.05 lakh candidates will appear for HTET this year, with Gurugram district contributing 42,783 candidates, the highest in the state. "In a significant move towards transparency and fairness, the board has decided to implement an AI-based monitoring system that will track and identify examinees in real time," he said. As soon as a candidate enters the examination zone, the system will fetch their entire data history. What makes this system more effective is its ability to identify if the same individual appeared in previous exams under a different name. If any such discrepancy is detected, or if a candidate is found to have used unfair means in past examinations, the AI system will flag them immediately. "The goal is clear: we want a fair and cheating-free examination process," said Pawan Kumar. "This is why we've taken the bold step of integrating AI into our exam surveillance. It's a first for HTET, and we believe it will set a strong precedent for future exams," he said. This year, more than 600 examination centres will be established across the state. Each centre will host approximately 310 candidates. The exam will be conducted across three levels: Level 1 (PRT) will see the participation of 82,917 candidates; Level 2 (TGT) will have 2,01,517 candidates; and Level 3 (PGT) will include 1,20,943 candidates. Chief secy reviews CET preparations Chandigarh: Haryana chief secretary Anurag Rastogi on Thursday held a meeting with all deputy commissioners and superintendents of police to review preparations for the Common Eligibility Test (CET)expected to be held next month. The test is being conducted for recruitment to group C and D posts in Haryana govt. The chief secretary emphasised the need to ensure the examination is conducted in a free, fair, smooth, and transparent manner. During the meeting, it was informed that around 13,48,697 applications were received for the CET. HSSC has proposed to hold the examination over two-three days. The chief secretary directed all DCs to begin the process of identifying suitable examination centres in their districts within three days. He emphasised that centres should be chosen keeping in mind security, logistics, transportation accessibility, and capacity to accommodate candidates.

Police Bust ‘Fake Loan' Scam, Two Arrested in Outer North Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi Police busted a 'Fake Loan' scam, arresting two men involved in duping citizens by impersonating representatives of a reputed finance company. Victims were lured with promises of high-value loans and duped of money under the guise of processing fees. According to police, the fraud came to light after a complaint was received on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) by a resident of Bhalswa Dairy. "The complainant reported being contacted by men posing as finance officials, who convinced him to transfer Rs 1.92 lakhs as processing and policy fees for a loan of Rs 25 lakhs. When no loan was received and unauthorised deductions surfaced, a case was registered," said DCP (outer north) Hareshwar V Swami. A police team used technical surveillance and financial tracking to trace the suspects. "Raids were carried out at Tilak Nagar and Sabhapur Extension, leading to the arrest of Pawan Kumar (36) on June 9 and Mohammad Rehbar (28) on June 13. Both were reportedly uncooperative during questioning," DCP Swami said. Cops revealed the scam involved cold-calling victims with fake loan offers, collecting fees, and routing the money through multiple bank accounts. Over 10 similar complaints across the country are linked to the accused. Efforts are underway to trace co-accused Sandeep and Yashish.

Delhi Police busts extortion racket targeting transporters, animal traders; three arrested
New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled an extortion racket targeting transporters and animal traders operating in the Gazipur Mandi transport area. It has arrested three accused and recovered illegal weapons, including single-shot pistols and live rounds, besides two cars and a scooty which was used to carry out criminal activities. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Harsh Indora stated that the Anti-Gangster Squad (AGS) had been actively working to curb the activities of criminals and extortionists operating in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). As per Delhi Police release, intelligence inputs indicated that a group led by Pawan Kumar was systematically intimidating and extorting money from transporters and animal traders in the mandi area. Acting on a tip-off about the movement of a criminal from the group identified as Ravinder Kumar, the police laid a trap at Kakrola Nala Road. Ravinder, who was intercepted in a car, was found in possession of an illegal single-shot pistol and one live round. A case under Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Crime Branch police station. During interrogation, Ravinder Kumar revealed that Pawan Kumar facilitated the distribution of firearms to gang members to carry out extortion activities. Pawan Kumar was subsequently apprehended, and a loaded single-shot pistol was recovered from him. Pawan Kumar confessed to the police of having recruited over eight individuals into his syndicate, tasking them with identifying and intercepting transporters and animal traders along various routes. The extorted money was often collected through online payments from animal traders. According to police, the gang intimidated victims by threatening them with action from an organisation that works to prevent cruelty to animals. The accused also revealed the names and mobile numbers of several victims, who are being traced as part of the investigation. Police also intercepted Mustaq, a key member responsible for procuring arms and he was found in possession of a loaded single-shot pistol. The investigation also revealed that the gang forcibly collected protection money from vehicle operators and animal traders under pretence of 'facilitating vehicle passage'. The extortion racket extended beyond Delhi into bordering regions of NCR. Police said that in March this year, Pawan Kumar, Ravinder Kumar and their associates stopped a trader's vehicle and extorted money under the threat of arms. (ANI)

Extortion gang busted, 3 arrested
New Delhi: Delhi Police 's Crime Branch arrested three members of a notorious gang involved in extorting money from transporters and animal traders in the city's markets. The accused, identified as Ravinder Sharma (47), Pawan Kumar (56), and Mustaq Ali (50), were apprehended on June 11 after a thorough investigation. NIA Takes Over Probe into Murder of Hindu Activist Suhas Shetty in Bajpe
Mangaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally taken over the investigation into the brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, who was hacked to death in broad daylight in Bajpe town on May 1. The central agency's team reached Mangaluru earlier this week and has initiated preliminary groundwork. Mangaluru Police have officially confirmed the arrival of the NIA team, led by DSP Pawan Kumar. The team has met with City Crime Branch (CCB) officers to collect case-related documents and briefings. The Union government had transferred the case to the NIA following pressure from BJP leaders, particularly Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, who had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking a central agency probe. The NIA investigation may also include charge of collision of officials in aiding the murder of Suhas Shetty, which the Karnataka government was wary about. It is stated by the BJP leaders that a certain police official had checked the car of Suhas Shetty twice on the day he was murdered, the checks had been carried out twice within a span of few hours to ensure that Shetty and his co passengers in the car had no weapons. Initial investigations by the local police had pointed to the involvement of a group of eight Muslim youths, allegedly affiliated with the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI). The calculated nature of the attack and the possible ideological motivation behind the killing raised concerns about a broader conspiracy. The NIA is likely to revisit the evidence and re-examine the suspects in custody. It may also explore whether provisions under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) are applicable if firm links to proscribed outfits are established. There are also reports suggesting that the agency will look into possible lapses by certain local police personnel. With the NIA's entry, the case is set to widen in scope, potentially extending beyond the immediate assailants to uncover a larger network, if any, behind the murder.
