Adoni MLA draws flak over casteist remarks, tenders apology
Tirupati: Adoni BJP MLA Dr P Venkata Parthasarathi has tendered an apology after his casteist-remarks' video drew criticism from the Dalit and SC-ST communities and from various quarters as well. The Adoni MLA, who went to attend an official programme at Dhanapuram village on June 16, was addressing the villagers from a makeshift stage erected close to the local temple premises. In the video which is going viral, the MLA calls for local sarpanch Chandrasekhar to come onto the stage. But when he can't find the sarpanch, Parthasarathi asks the leaders on the stage if Chandrasekhar was a Christian. Then a local leader identified as Gudise Krishnamma tells the MLA that Chandrasekhar belongs to the SC community, and Chandrasekhar stops himself from going up onto the stage. Various pro-Dalit organisations and human rights forums strongly condemned the incident and demanded an apology from the ruling party legislator after the video of the incident went viral on various social media platforms since Wednesday. Meanwhile, Adoni MLA Parthasarathi clarified that he himself was from the BC community and had taken part in many Dalit movements in the past. "I had no intention to hurt anyone's sentiments on the caste or religious lines. The local sarpanch Chandrasekhar had recently joined the BJP from the YSRCP and when I called up his name to come onto the stage and he wasn't seen anywhere, I doubted if he belonged to Christianity and was reluctant to come onto the stage which was close to the temple premises," he said. Recalling his association with numerous groups fighting for Dalit rights, Parthasarathi stated that he was tendering an open apology if the incident had hurt the sentiments of the Dalit groups and others.

NDA govt fulfilled 85% of Super Six promises: Minister
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for Information and Public Relations and Housing K Parthasarathi has asserted that the NDA government has fulfilled 85 per cent of the Super Six promises over the past one year. The Minister was speaking to media persons at his camp office on Saturday. Parthasarathi said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was committed to achieving 15 per cent growth of the state's economy by 2047 and that Minister Nara Lokesh had been making efforts to provide employment opportunity to 20 lakh people.

Andhra minister urges caution amid rising Covid-19 cases
Nuzvid: Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister K Parthasarathi on Sunday urged people to remain vigilant as Covid-19 cases are rising across the country once again. Parthasarathi advised people to avoid large gatherings and ensure social distancing norms are strictly followed at public places like railway stations, bus stands, and airports statewide. "Wearing masks must be made mandatory again in all crowded areas to prevent the spread (of Covid-19)," said Parthasarathi in an official press release, urging people not to become complacent about public safety. The minister said that senior citizens and pregnant women should avoid stepping out unnecessarily, and international passengers must undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing upon arrival in the state. Parthasarathi directed medical officers to keep PPE kits, masks, and related supplies readily available and to remain fully alert in both rural and urban healthcare facilities. He said the government machinery is prepared to handle any emergency, with special focus on government hospitals to ensure availability of necessary medical infrastructure. Officials were instructed to carry out extensive awareness campaigns at the village and mandal levels, ensuring that citizens adopt necessary preventive measures and understand the importance of health protocols, said the press release. AP will transform as industrial hub: Minister Kolusu
Nellore: Information & Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi has said that the State is going to transform as industrial hub with several companies establishing their units. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the Minister said that already Rs 7 lakh crores have been invested till date while some multinational companies are also going to establish industries in the State. He said as part of the initiative to provide 20 lakh jobs to unemployed youth, the coalition government headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is introducing 'Quantum Valley Technology' (QVT), a highly sophisticated technology compared to IT and software. Parthasarathi has asserted that Polavaram Project will be completed by December 2027. Polavaram-Banakacharla interlinking works with Rs 80,000 crore with the aim of providing water for drought-prone Rayalaseema districts are under progress, he informed. Amaravathi Capital works are under progress with warfoot manner despite State is facing serious financial crisis. Describing the State government's prestigious P-4 programme as a revolutionary one, the Minister urged philanthropists to come forward to extend support to the government for uplifting the living standards of the poor in the State. He appealed youth and students to become partners as the Andhra Pradesh will occupy number one place by 2047 as part of Viksith Bharath. Earlier, Minister Parthasarathi has participated in a programme organised by Yadava Employees and Professional Association (YEPA) at Kondayapalem in the city and presented Pratibha Puraskaram (talent awards) to meritorious 10th class students. The Minister exhorted students to cultivate discipline and positive thinking, emphasizing that these qualities are key to achieving goals, securing a bright future, and reaching greater heights. He lauded Yadava Association for its commendable initiative in encouraging talented students, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. He encouraged youth to consider careers in industrial sector, taking inspiration from Chukka Kondiah, a renowned guide and expert in the field. TDP Rajya Sabha member Beeda Masthan Rao and others were present.

Conference on managing diabetes with Parkinson's disease held
A national conference on 'Mantras and Medicine: Managing Diabetics with Parkinson's disease (M3DPD-2025)' was held at Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre (SRC), SASTRA, a Deemed University, Kumbakonam. The conference, organised in association with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under the Vision Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, brought together a dynamic confluence of traditional knowledge systems and modern medical research to address the growing challenges of diabetes and Parkinson's Disease (PD). The event focused on exploring the therapeutic potential of Vedic chanting, Siddha medicine, and herbal interventions like Costus igneus (commonly known as the insulin plant), alongside advancements in biomedical diagnostics and artificial intelligence. Inaugurating the conference on May 14, former Vice-Chancellor of S-VYASA University, Bengaluru, and Vedic scholar Ramachandra G. Bhat emphasised the relevance of Veda-based therapies and ecological healing for chronic illnesses, especially neurological and metabolic conditions. Over 50 papers, ranging from ethnobotanical studies, cell line research, clinical trial methodologies, and philosophical perspectives on healing from researchers from India and abroad were presented. Clinical insights into diabetes-PD comorbidity were presented by medical experts such as Parthasarathi, Preethi and Vijayalakshmi, according to a SASTRA release. The conference, a part of an ongoing research project investigating traditional healing methods to manage chronic disorders, witnessed enthusiastic participation from student volunteers, research scholars, and faculty members. As part of the research project initiative, blood screening camps have already been conducted in rural districts of Tamil Nadu, identifying over 42 patients with diabetes and Parkinson's for clinical study. Vedic chanting protocols and herbal intervention trials are scheduled to commence by June. The conference reaffirmed the importance of India's Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in shaping future models of integrative healthcare and opened doors for multi-disciplinary collaboration in addressing some of the most pressing health concerns of the modern age. In his valedictory address, the Professor, Department of Oriental Studies and Research, SASTRA, underlined the necessity of integrating scriptural wisdom with evidence-based medicine for holistic well-being, the release added.
