Three-time Cup champion Jonathan Toews returning to NHL with hometown Winnipeg Jets

WINNIPEG — Three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews is returning to the NHL and signing with his hometown Winnipeg Jets. The Jets announced on Friday that they've agreed to a one-year contract with Toews. The value of his deal, which can officially be signed when NHL free agency opens July 1, was not revealed. Advertisement 'I'm grateful to be making my return to the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets,' Toews said in a statement. 'It's very special to come home and play in front of my family and friends in Manitoba. 'The Jets have been on the rise over the last few seasons, and I'm eager to join the group and help however I can.' Toews missed the past two NHL seasons after stepping away from hockey, citing the effects of Chronic Immune Response Syndrome and long COVID. The health complications also forced him to miss the entire 2020-21 campaign. Toews revealed on social media in November that he travelled to India and underwent Ayurvedic detox Panchakarma, a traditional therapy that uses massage, herbs and diet to cleanse the body, after 'almost five years of searching for a way to heal the inflammatory and immune system issues that took me out of hockey.' Advertisement The longtime Chicago Blackhawks captain helped lead the franchise to Stanley Cup championships in 2010, 2013 and 2015, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2010. He also claimed Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and 2014. The Jets posted to social media a picture of a young Toews wearing a Winnipeg Jets jacket and a Manitoba Moose hat, and the caption 'Meant to be.' The franchise also shared a photo of the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex sign in Winnipeg, with a message board underneath reading, "HE'S HOME." 'We are excited to add a proven winner like Jonathan Toews to the Winnipeg Jets,' Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said. 'It will be a unique opportunity for Jonathan to play for his hometown team. His talent, drive, and experience will be a great complement to our club. We will withhold further comment until July 1.' Advertisement Toews, who the Blackhawks selected third overall in 2006 and named captain at just 20, has 372 goals and 511 assists in 1,067 career NHL regular-season games, all with Chicago. He also tallied 45 goals and 74 assists in 137 playoff games. The Blackhawks released a statement to "congratulate Jonathan Toews and welcome him back to the NHL." "The work he's done over the past two years to make his return is a testament to his resiliency and determination — the same qualities that our fans fell in love with and continue to define him as a player," the statement read. The 37-year-old centre won the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward in 2013 and the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2015. Advertisement He joins a Jets team that captured the Presidents' Trophy last season and won the most regular-season games in the NHL over the past two campaigns. Winnipeg, however, hasn't advanced past the second round of the playoffs since 2018. The Jets fell in six games in their second-round series against the Dallas Stars this past spring. Toews will add depth down the middle alongside Mark Scheifele, captain Adam Lowry and Vladislav Namestnikov. Lowry is expected to miss the start of next season after undergoing hip surgery in May. The healing power of Acupuncture: How wellness centres are reviving an ancient science

In a world dominated by modern medicine, where pills and surgeries often come with side effects and uncertainties, there is a powerful revival of traditional healing methods. And one such therapy is Acupuncture, which is slowly becoming a part and parcel of holistic health. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a form of therapy in which very fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body, known as acupoints or marma points. It is believed that these tiny needles do not just physically stimulate, but also regulate the energy when they hit the marma points. Acupuncture works by correcting the imbalances in the marma points and the 'QI' of the body. And surprisingly, very few people know that there are more than 360 acupoints across the body, each linked to specific organs and functions, and stimulating these points helps in opening up blocked energy pathways, balancing body systems, and restoring harmony. Acupuncture offerings by Patanjali Patanjali Wellness, under the guidance of Acharya Balkrishna and Swami Ramdev, has integrated acupuncture into its wide range of natural healing therapies. Patanjali's acupuncture therapy is offered as part of its larger wellness ecosystem that includes Ayurveda , Panchakarma, naturopathy, yoga, and physiotherapy. And at Patanjali, there are 5 major types of Acupuncture techniques in play - Cupping method that uses suction cups to draw out toxins and stimulate circulation, Ear Acupuncture, which focuses on the ear as a micro-system of the whole body, Electro-Acupuncture, which is a mix of traditional needling with mild electrical currents, Moxibustion, where a herbal stick is burned close to the skin to warm and energise acupoints, and Scalp Acupuncture, where specific zones on the scalp are targeted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Each of these techniques is designed to address specific health concerns while also improving overall well-being. Benefits of Acupuncture Acupuncture is more than just needles, pain, slight bloodletting, and traditional therapy. It is a practice that helps restore the body's inner energy and helps with better function. And while most people think that Acupuncture is just needles and pain, it also has analgesic effects, where, by stimulating the nervous system, it increases the body's natural painkillers like endorphins and enkephalins, providing relief from chronic pain, migraines, joint pain, and more. Plus, Acupuncture is also believed to benefit the central nervous system, reducing harmful brainwaves and helping restore a state of calm and balance. It also supports the immune system by improving energy flow and blood circulation, and helps to enhance white blood cell activity, increasing antibody production, and balancing immune responses. Jonathan Toews reportedly eyeing return to NHL after ex-Chicago Blackhawks star sat out last 2 seasons

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain and three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews is eyeing a return to the NHL in the fall, according to a report Thursday. TSN analyst Pierre LeBrun posted on social media that Toews 'reached out to his agent Pat Brisson yesterday to inform him he's 100 percent committed to coming back to the NHL next season.' LeBrun added that Brisson will begin fielding interest from teams leading up to the opening of free agency July 1. Toews, who turned 37 on April 29, last played in the Hawks' 2022-23 season finale against the Philadelphia Flyers on April 13, 2023. It had been publicized before that game that Toews would not receive a new contract offer from the Hawks, so he received a hero's send-off from the United Center crowd and capped his final performance for the team with a second-period power-play goal. Toews missed all of 2020-21 and two months of his last Hawks season with extremely painful and lethargic symptoms he has attributed to chronic immune response syndrome and long COVID-19. Since stepping away from the game, Toews has expressed a desire to return once he gets a handle on his health problems. He went on a five-week 'healing journey' to India, employing a 'Ayurvedic detox (program) called a Panchakarma,' which he explained in an Instagram post and an interview with GQ magazine, published in December 2024. With the help of an Ayurvedic practitioner, solutions included changing his diet and taking herbal tinctures to help with inflammation and digestion. 'There's a part of me that really doesn't feel like my career is over yet,' he told GQ, 'and who knows what this next part of the journey looks like, as far as getting back on the ice and trying to make a return to the NHL. There's never any guarantees in life, but I'm going to give it my best shot.'

Forget green smoothies, this viral 5-step Ayurveda detox could be the gut reset you need and it starts with vomiting

Ayurveda experts have shared that over time, the accumulation of toxins (Ama) can lead to health issues such as fatigue, skin problems and digestive disorders. Ayurveda offers a natural detox with therapies like Panchakarma, along with tailored diets and herbal treatments. Ayurvedic detox programs help cleanse the body, promote digestion and rejuvenate the skin, boosting overall health and vitality. Experts claim that Panchakarma, which literally means 'five actions' is Ayurveda's powerful healing therapy designed to flush out toxins, balance your bioenergies or doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha which govern all your physical and mental actions) restore your energy and reset you for good. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Manisha Mishra Goswami, Ayurveda Physician, spilled the beans on Panchakarma's five-step detox system: 1. Vaman – therapeutic vomiting to clear excess mucus 2. Virechan – herbal purgation to cleanse the liver, gut and excess acids 3. Basti – medicated enemas for deep colon detox and Vata balance to counter aches and pains 4. Nasya – nasal drops to clear sinuses and mind, promote collagen and reduce hair fall 5. Raktamokshana – bloodletting to purify blood and skin, needed in skin concerns Dr Manisha Mishra Goswami revealed, 'Through a personalised process involving oil massages, herbal steams and the purgatory actions, Panchakarma gently clears and heals the gut, liver, skin, joints — even your mental clutter. It's not just detox, it's rejuvenation. People report better digestion, deeper sleep, glowing skin, hormonal balance and a sense of lightness they haven't felt in years.' Dr Manisha Mishra Goswami highlighted, 'Apart from healing diseases with panchkarma, Ayurveda also offers it as a preventive measure to keep your health optimised. Health is the best investment and I recommend people to definitely try it as a preventative measure during seasonal change.' Bringing his expertise to the same, Dr VM Gopal Menon, Ayurvedic Physician at Vaidyaratnam Vrindavan Ayurveda Chikitsalayam, shared, 'While Panchakarma is widely recognised for detoxification, its deeper value lies in resetting cellular intelligence. Ayurveda views disease not merely as toxin accumulation, but as a disruption in the body's innate self-regulatory mechanisms, Prana, Agni and Ojas.' He explained, 'Panchakarma, when administered correctly, doesn't just cleanse; it re-educates the body. One profound yet overlooked benefit is its role in neurophysiological reset. We've observed improved vagal tone, better sleep architecture, and reduced systemic inflammation in patients post-therapy. This suggests Panchakarma may influence the gut-brain axis, restoring harmony between mental and metabolic health.' The process emphasises not just the elimination of toxins but the restoration of coherence across biological rhythms. True rejuvenation happens when the body remembers how to heal, not when it is merely scrubbed clean. That, experts claim, is the silent revolution Panchakarma brings: subtle, systemic and deeply intelligent.
