It's a wrap for Karthi, Malavika Mohanan starrer Sardar 2: What an adventure
Actor Karthi has officially wrapped up shooting for his much-awaited film 'Sardar 2', the sequel to the 2022 spy action thriller 'Sardar'. Directed by PS Mithran, who also helmed the first instalment, the sequel promises to raise the stakes in the franchise's espionage narrative. The makers announced the completion of the film's shoot earlier last a post on X, Malavika Mohanan posted pictures with Karthi from the sets of 'Sardar 2' and shared a heartfelt note. The caption read, 'And it's a wrap for Sardar 2! I started this project with the most challenging schedule of the film & ended it with the most fun schedule in Bangkok. What a mad ride this one's been! Karthi you've been an absolute gem to work with. Who knew we had so many interests in common. PS Mithran, thank you for making me a part of this one. So unlike anything I've done before. This is a special one. His caption read, 'Sardar2 - That's a wrap!. What an adventure it's been!!'.The upcoming film sees Karthi reprising his dual role as the aged undercover spy and his police officer son, continuing the story from where it left off in the original. The sequel also stars Malavika Mohanan, SJ Suryah, and Rajisha Vijayan in key roles. Music for 'Sardar 2' is composed by Sam CS, known for his work on 'Kaithi'. The makers had previously released a short teaser that hinted at another action-packed instalment. While an official release date is yet to be announced, 'Sardar 2' will hit cinemas later this year. Principal photography has concluded on Sardar 2, the highly anticipated sequel to actor Karthi and filmmaker PS Mithran's 2022 blockbuster. Announcing the news through social media on Saturday, Karthi posted pictures with the film's crew from Huahin Airport and captioned his post, "That's a wrap! What an adventure it's been!!" The production update follows the release of a special prologue teaser for Sardar 2 in March, building significant anticipation among fans. Sardar 2 also stars SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal roles. Rajisha also appears in the first Sardar film, alongside Raashii Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu, and Balaji Sakthivel. The sequel, whose production went for over 100 days, is set in locations such as China and Cambodia. The makers are yet to reveal full plot details and a release date for Sardar 2.

Hero Karthi is all set to return in the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster hit Sardar. Titled Sardar 2, the film is being simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu and is once again helmed by director PS Mithran, who also directed the original. The film is being produced on a grand scale by Prince Pictures. Marking a key milestone, the makers recently announced that the film's shooting has been successfully completed. To celebrate the occasion, the team shared joyful pictures from the set, where the cast and crew were seen cutting a celebratory cake. With the principal photography now wrapped up, Sardar 2 has moved into the post-production phase, which is progressing at a brisk pace. The sequel boasts a stellar cast, with Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan playing the female leads. Acclaimed actor SJ Suryah is set to appear in a powerful role, adding to the film's intrigue. Produced on a massive budget, Sardar 2 features top-tier technicians. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while George C. Williams handles the cinematography. Dilip Subbarayan is in charge of stunts, ensuring high-octane action sequences. The editing is being done by Vijay Velukutty, with Rajiv Nambiar serving as production designer. The project is further supported by production executive AP Paul Pandi, co-producer A Venkatesh, and producer S. Laxman Kumar. Karthi shared pictures of the team from the Hua Hin Airport, Thailand, on his social media handles to announce the news. Sardar 2 is the sequel to Sardar, a spy action thriller that featured Karthi in dual roles as a father and son. It told the story of how a cop, striving hard to rise above the reputation of being a national traitor's son, learns of his father's secrets and a bigger conspiracy at play. A previously released prologue teaser showed Karthi's character take on SJ Suryah's 'Black Dagger,' in what promises to be an intriguing spy thriller. The sequel is set to feature Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal roles. The first Sardar film starred Rajisha along with Raashii Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel. With music scored by Sam CS, the film has cinematography by George C Williams and editing by Vijay Velukutty. The upcoming sequel has a screenplay written by Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi. S Lakshman Kumar produces Sardar 2 under his Prince Pictures banner.
