IIM Udaipur Concludes Executive Education Training Program for PM SHRI School Principals in Collaboration with RSSP Jaipur
PRNewswire Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 21: Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIM Udaipur), in collaboration with the Rajasthan School Shiksha Parishad (RSSP), Jaipur, successfully concluded a five-day leadership development program titled "Achieving Excellence in School Education through Leadership" for the Principals of PM SHRI Schools. Held from June 16 to 20, 2025, this immersive training initiative aimed to build transformative leadership capabilities among school leaders to support the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and drive academic excellence in Rajasthan's schools. The program sessions encompassed several critical dimensions, including curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and assessment methodologies, as well as infrastructural access, adequacy, functional efficiency, and aesthetic considerations. Each of these elements was discussed with analytical depth, emphasising their strategic relevance to school development. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a wide array of interactive sessions, case discussions, and peer learning experiences delivered by esteemed IIMU faculty and industry experts. The Program included sessions of various topics such as Enhancing Team Building Skills, 21st Century Challenges of School Education, Developing Knowledge Creating individual, Enlightened Leadership, Approaches to School Development, Learning and Value-Based School Development, Academia Interface with CSR, Operational Efficiency and Leadership, Change Management, Digital Advancements in Education etc. A total of 237 PM SHRI School Principals were nominated for this program, across multiple cohorts to ensure focused and participatory learning. There are increasing attempts to destabilise elected governments by using governors: Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 20 (ANI): Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty announced on Friday that the powers and duties of governors will be included in school textbooks. Minister Sivankutty told reporters that the governor's powers and duties will be included in school textbooks. 'The state's curriculum has been revised to uphold constitutional values. The Department of Public Education will give priority to providing the necessary support to emulate them in life and through school education activities.' 'There are increasing attempts to destabilise elected governments in the country by using governors. The Supreme Court itself has clarified the constitutional powers of governors. Since schools are the real places where the values of democracy should be learned, this matter will be included separately in the revised textbooks to teach students about the constitutional powers of governors. This subject will be included in the second volume of Social Science this year and during the revision of higher secondary textbooks.' Sivankutty stated. Earlier, Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty criticized the BJP-led central government over its decision to give Hindi titles to English medium textbooks of NCERT, calling it against the 'federal' principles of the nation. Speaking to ANI, Sivankutty said that a letter has been sent to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the issue, and this matter will be raised in the upcoming NCERT meeting. 'We had earlier expressed strong protest against assigning Hindi titles to English medium textbooks. However, the Centre has not taken any corrective action so far. That is why a letter has been sent to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the issue. Assigning Hindi names to English-medium books goes against the federal principles of our nation. This matter will be raised in the upcoming NCERT meeting,' the Kerala Education Minister said. On the PM SHRI scheme, he said, 'There is no need to reject the funds offered through the PM SHRI scheme. That money is the rightful share of Kerala. While there are points of agreement and disagreement with the National Education Policy, such differences are natural in a democracy. We will also raise this topic in the next NCERT meeting,' he added. Recently, NCERT released the new names of books for various classes. Class 1 and Class 2 books are now named as 'Mridang' and a Class 3 book is named 'Santoor'. The Class 6 English book has been renamed from 'Honeysuckle' to 'Poorvi'. The recent name changes have reignited the language row as multiple ministers of different states, including Kerala and Tamil, accuse the central government of trying to 'impose Hindi' on school students through the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP). Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has also criticised the central government for 'Hindi imposition' before, claiming that the latter has denied certain funds to state schools for refusing to implement the three-language formula in the NEP. Nara Lokesh seeks Central government's support for Andhra Pradesh educational reforms
VIJAYAWADA: HRD, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on Wednesday and presented a comprehensive outline of the far-reaching reforms being implemented in Andhra Pradesh's education sector. He also met Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and reiterated the long-pending demand for a High Court bench in Kurnool. During his meeting with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Lokesh stated that the new coalition government is committed to structural reforms aimed at establishing the AP Model of Education. 'Under the flagship Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) initiative, the state is setting up 9,600 model primary schools, one in each Assembly constituency. The government is implementing a 'One Class – One Teacher' policy and has already upgraded 700 upper primary schools to high schools. A star rating system has been introduced to evaluate schools based on academic and infrastructural parameters,' he said. Lokesh also highlighted the successful and apolitical implementation of the Teacher Transfer Act based on seniority, the establishment of 80 new PM SHRI schools and 79 hostels under the PM Janman scheme, and the sanctioning of Rs 186 crore for STEM and computer labs. Efforts are also underway to open 125 autism schools with central support. A state-wide mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) is scheduled for July 5, and Lokesh invited Union Minister Pradhan to attend.

844 teachers promoted in Haryana
Haryana education minister Mahipal Dhanda said on Wednesday that the state government has promoted 844 teachers, including four to the position of principal, in what is a step to further improve the standard of education in government schools. The minister said that the promotions to the rank of block education officers (BEOs) and district education officers (DEOs) will also be done soon and that teacher transfers will be started shortly. Dhanda said that 35 chemistry teachers and 18 trained graduate teachers (TGTs) have been promoted as post graduate teachers (PGTs), while one PGT each of Sanskrit and English, and two of Hindi have been promoted to the post of principal. Similarly, four commerce teachers, 207 English teachers, one of Geography, History (203), Political Science (137), Sociology (13), Sanskrit (150), Home Science (37), Hindi (35) have been promoted from TGT to PGT, said the education minister. Dhanda stated that the government has completed infrastructural development in every government school across the state, and other issues will also be resolved soon. He said that under the National Education Policy, new curricula are being developed to equip students to face challenges effectively. He said that in different phases, a transfer drive for all categories of teachers will be started soon. Dhanda said that a new Model Sanskriti School will be opened within every 10 km radius so that students can have access to improved education. The present state government envisions setting up e-libraries for students in government schools. In line with this vision, e-libraries will be established in 197 Government Model Sanskriti Schools and 250 PM SHRI schools, he said.

Annual fish catch potential of Lakshadweep 1 lakh MT
Lakshadweep/Kochi, June 11 (UNI) Waters of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep hold an annual fish catch potential of 1 lakh MT, proving that fisheries are the backbone of its economy. Recognising fisheries as a vital sector and lifeline for Lakshadweep, the Centre has approved Rs 14.06 crore under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for Lakshadweep. Lakshadweep has been designated as a Seaweed Cluster also, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, George Kurian, said on Tuesday. In the education sector, the minister commended the 91.65% literacy rate in Lakshadweep and the zero school dropout rate. Eleven schools have been selected under the PM SHRI scheme, with high-speed internet, computer labs, and digital libraries enhancing learning experiences. In the healthcare sector, he said three 30-bedded hospitals are being constructed in Minicoy, Androth, and Kadmat at a cost of Rs 231.96 crore. The Ministry of Home Affairs has accorded in-principle approval for a nursing and paramedical college project worth Rs 127 crore. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) has undertaken major infrastructure upgrades: Development of eastern and western jetties in Kadmat and Kalpeni and new port facilities in Androth worth Rs 1,664.88 crore. Proposals under examination for beachfront development, including roads and protection walls in Agatti, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, and Minicoy, at a cost of Rs 2,128.86 crore, he said. Eco-tourism is getting a major boost with three water villa projects being developed in Minicoy, Kadmat, and Suheli, in consultation with NITI Aayog, with a combined investment of Rs 810 crore. Weekly cruise liner operations are also underway, connecting Mumbai, Kochi, Agatti, and Thinnakara. To reduce dependence on diesel, an MoU was signed with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Rooftop solar systems were installed in over 450 homes. Solar plants were commissioned in Agatti (0.3 MW) and Kavaratti (1.4 MW). To ensure access to drinking water, 1.5 lakh litre/day desalination plants have been established on six islands. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, Rs 268.81 crore has been allocated to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) across all islands, he said. UNI DS ARN
