PFTPM returns today
The PFT Live hiatus began on Friday. I've promised to do #PFTPM during the break. And, yes, I've heard from more than a few of you that we've yet to post a new episode. I should have explained that the first order of business on Monday was to have my annual physical in Pittsburgh. On Tuesday, it was back to Pittsburgh for a non-serious medical issue that has been properly diagnosed and soon will be resolved — hopefully. So far, those are the only two things on the docket that will keep me from doing #PFTPM every weekday until PFT Live returns on July 28. Which means we'll get started today. If you have any specific questions or topics you'd like to see addressed, drop a line at florio@ We'll tape late this morning (which in that respect makes it not #PFTPM) and post in the afternoon (which in that respect absolutely makes it #PFTPM).

The annual PFT Live hiatus starts now
We do it every year, right around now. The two-hour weekday show devoted to all things NFL embarks on a hiatus. This year's break begins today. PFT Live returns on Monday, July 28. Obviously, nothing changes here. We'll have many daily updates, every single day. I'll also be doing #PFTPM episodes on most of the weekdays during the upcoming break. Only days after we return, we'll be in Canton for the Hall of Fame game. And then comes the preseason. And the regular season. And on and on it goes, through Super Bowl LX on NBC and Peacock. Since the last hiatus ended, we've had a cast of co-hosts including Chris Simms, Devin McCourty, Rodney Harrison, Michael Holley, Charean Williams, and Myles Simmons. With a dash of Peter King. Thanks to all of them for helping to deliver a show that provides an authentic look at pro football, from various perspectives. And thanks to those of you who regularly consume the show, on Peacock or SiriusXM 85 or NBC Sports Now or Sky Sports or YouTube or clips on the website or via podcast.I'll be wide awake tomorrow morning, itching to do the show.

Pablo Torre's Bill Belichick reporting sparks a fresh feud with Bill Simmons
The story that keeps on giving keeps finding new ways to give. Pablo Torre's thorough and detailed reporting on former Patriots coach Bill Belichick's decidedly un-Belichickian late-career turn has generated plenty of attention. And, as Belichick and Jordon Hudson have learned, with attention comes scrutiny. Ben Axelrod of explains that Boston native, Patriots superfan, and ultra-popular podcast host Bill Simmons took a few shots at Torre during a study of the ridiculously far-fetched 1978 football film, Heaven Can Wait, in which Warren Beatty's character (Rams quarterback Joe Pendleton) dies too soon, enters the body of multimillionaire Leo Farnsworth as rectification for the error, buys the team, and makes himself the starting quarterback in advance of the Super Bowl. 'Pablo Torre would've done a long podcast about Leo Farnsworth trying to practice with the team, and then done a media tour about it afterwards,' Simmons said. 'I've never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you're a journalist. What the fuck was that? Seriously.' Added Simmons: 'Belichick's dating a girl. 'Oh, let me do nine shows about it.' Settle the fuck down.' The Torre media tour wasn't planned. People wanted to talk to him about the Belichick story. That's how he ended up on #PFTPM last week; I asked him to do it. The reason was simple. People can't get enough of the story. Our traffic proves it, over and over again. For instance, our top four stories for May 2025 related to Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend/handler/publicist/idea mill/creative muse Jordon Hudson. But while a certain amount of flak from others in the media is to be expected for anyone whose success sparks natural and predictable resentment, Torre appears to be ready to engage Simmons. 'Since you have such a strong public opinion about my work,' Torre said to Simmons on Twitter, 'I happen to have a few questions for you, specifically. Unless you're afraid of [Pablo Torre Finds Out] and someone just 'pretending to be a journalist,' of course.' We don't know what the questions are. We don't know whether Simmons will answer them. But we know that, if Pablo Torre becomes sufficiently curious about something, he'll make it his mission to find out.

The awkward coverup over Channing Crowder's Bill Belichick/Jordon Hudson comments continues
Contrary to the opinions of those who have nothing better to do than complain about our periodic Bill Belichick/Jordon Hudson stories, we do many other things than write about the most oddly compelling story in all of football. For example, I've resisted (for now) the temptation to post more items with quotes from the recent visit by Pablo Torre to #PFTPM for a 45-minute chat on all things Belichick/Hudson. Some things, however, can't be ignored. In an article focusing on the recent sports media misadventures of Ryan Clark, John Mamola of Barrett Sports Media mentioned something very interesting. The portion of the WQAM radio show in which The Pivot Podcast co-host Channing Crowder said Hudson 'choreographed' Belichick's solo interview with Clark is gone. Expunged. Disappeared. Kaput. From the show's website. From its Apple podcast feed. From its Spotify podcast feed. We checked, just to be sure. Both the portion of the show during which the comments were made on May 16 (hour three) and the full May 16 show are gone from all three platforms. Only hours one, two, and four remain. Here's what Crowder said, beyond sharing his perception that Hudson 'choreographed' the interview: 'She kind of coordinates and brand manages. She has her paws on the situation. It's different . . . It was weird to be around Belichick and Jordon. . . . I don't see Belichick in that light. But he just smiles and nods. . . . His old lady is different. . . . She lurks. It's weird to know him as Coach Belichick running the entire organization as G.M., head coach, talent coordinator, all that stuff, and then to see this tiny, little 95-pound girl kind of — pretty much telling him what to do.' Wrote Mamola: 'Did Ryan Clark ask to have that hour removed? Did Bill Belichick or Jordon Hudson ask to have it removed?' Those are very fair questions. It's an extreme measure for any radio station to delete archived audio. The longer it's up before it's gone, the more awkward it is to scrub it from the web. While it's not known whether Clark's, Belichick's, and/or Hudson's fingerprints are on the removal of the Crowder audio, it's just another delayed-action development that kicks up the broader story's otherwise settled dust. Clark's one-on-one with Belichick delved into issues that had begun to fade away from view, such as the disastrous CBS interview. Crowder's apology, followed by Clark's unpersuasive effort to show that Hudson didn't control the Belichick interview, woke up the echoes of a wrinkle that had been largely forgotten after the control-alt-delete of Memorial Day weekend. Bottom line? It's all very weird. And Clark pulled himself and his popular podcast into the lingering morass by doing something seemingly far more detailed, planned, and (yes) choreographed than the usual podcast interview, where the guest shows up, talks for a while, and then leaves. It's obvious at this point that the Belichick interview was anything but a spontaneous and organic conversation, free from selective editing over which Belichick (and/or Hudson) may have had control. The best evidence of this fact is that Clark finagled the first (and only, so far) sit-down interview with Belichick and Hudson — and killed it. That general strangeness of the Belichick/Hudson story has returned to the center of the radar screen because it wasn't enough for Crowder to apologize for saying what he said about Hudson. Those words had to be erased from digital existence. At the behest of someone. Someone who doesn't realize the simple wisdom of leaving well enough alone.

Podcaster not ruling out legal action against UNC over Bill Belichick public records request
Pablo Torre has been busy digging into to the relationship between Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, reporting on his podcast 'Pablo Torre Finds Out' that Belichick's family has expressed 'deep worry' about the damage Hudson is doing the 73-year-old's legacy. The podcaster also reported Hudson was banned from UNC's football facility — a claim the school has since refuted. Torre has stood by his reporting, and won't rule out taking legal action if UNC doesn't respond to his multiple public records requests he's sent to the university by Friday. 'These are public records requests,' he said during an appearance on 'PFT PM.' 'I don't know why this should be vague or ambiguous. It's not like, 'Show me your e-mails,' as if there is no expectation of it. It's, 'You get as part of the pact between a public university and the federal government, you get things in exchange for what feels like a reasonable level of transparency.' 'So we can tell what is this public money going towards? It's standard operating procedure, and if we don't — if we feel like they are not obliging their legal obligations, we will certainly pursue avenues to make it so.' Because UNC isn't a private university, Belichick's e-mails are open to those kinds of public records requests. The Athletic recently obtained e-mails Belichick sent asking for Hudson to be copied. The legendary coach chalked it up to the university not having a 'sports information guy.' 'Because all e-mails are shared publicly, that was taken as Jordon's running the sports information department,' Belichick said during a recent appearance on 'The Pivot' podcast. 'And that also led to a narrative, which is just totally — she's not doing it. There was nobody to help me sort it out, so I was asking her to do it.' Torre didn't specify what specifically he was after in regards to the requests, and it's unclear whether the university will comply with the request or if legal action indeed will be taken.
