Bayern asserted their dominance over Group C by thrashing Auckland City in their Club World Cup opener 10-0. They are the only team in the group that received maximum points, and it would be no surprise if they are able to once again pick up a win and guarantee themselves a spot in the knockout stage. Harry Kane is the man for Bayern, and somehow he failed to score despite the onslaught they put on Auckland. Expect him to get right in this one and try to find the back of the net here. If Boco Junior can at least force a draw, they will have a great chance to advance, considering their last match of the group stage is against Auckland, but that is a big if. This is a great Club World Cup matchup; make sure to tune in and catch all the action. More than 100 people were injured in Liverpool title parade crash
More than 100 people were injured in Liverpool title parade crash Authorities have updated the injury toll to 109, with four people still receiving hospital treatment for their injuries, it was revealed on Monday Merseyside Police has issued an update (Image: Liverpool Echo ) Merseyside Police have reported that at least 109 individuals were injured in the aftermath of a crash during the Liverpool FC Premier League title parade. The latest update from police revealed that a nine-year-old was among the youngest victims of the incident in Water Street. A pram carrying a baby boy was also sent several metres down the street when it was struck, but the child was not hurt. The incident occurred on Water Street in the heart of Liverpool shortly after 6pm on Monday, May 26, when a vehicle ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians. Authorities have updated the injury toll to 109, with four people still receiving hospital treatment for their injuries, it was revealed on Monday. The police force has enlisted specialist officers to provide support to those affected and their families, and they are being aided by mutual aid officers from Greater Manchester, Cumbria, Lancashire, North Wales, and Cheshire. Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson has issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to step forward. On Monday, she said: "This is a complex and constantly evolving investigation and we are still working through and assessing those reporting being injured and our enquiries remain ongoing." She expressed gratitude towards the public for their contributions, adding: "I would like to thank everyone who has been in touch with us so far to give witness accounts or supply information or video footage. Article continues below "The response so far has been of great assistance in progressing the investigation. We have had more than 500 submissions to the Major Incident Police Portal (MIPP) and a team of detectives are currently working through the information provided. "I would continue to appeal for anyone who has information and is yet to come forward to please get in touch as a matter of urgency." Emergency services at the scene (Image: PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images ) Paul Doyle, 53, from Burghill Road, West Derby, faces multiple charges including two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to do so; and two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent, all under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. He's also been charged with one count of dangerous driving. He made an appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, May 30, where he was remanded in custody until his next court date on August 14. The dad is set to face a trial beginning November 24 this year, provisionally lasting for three to four weeks. Detective Superintendent Wilson said: "As a person has now been charged in connection with this incident, I would like to remind people not to speculate or share information or footage which could in any way jeopardise the case. "We understand that emotions are still running high, and people are seeking answers, but it is vital that we allow the matter to go through the judicial process." A fundraising campaign for those affected has seen donations exceed £50,000. The 'Liverpool Spirit Appeal' has been initiated by the Community Foundation for Merseyside in collaboration with Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS). Liverpool crash suspect's neighbours reveal what dad of three is like – 'Doesn't make sense'
Liverpool crash suspect's neighbours reveal what dad of three is like – 'Doesn't make sense' The suspected driver in the Liverpool victory parade horror crash has been described by neighbours as a "nice family" man - despite the injured now totalling almost 80 A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Liverpool parade crash that has injured 79 people (Image: PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images ) The suspected driver in the Liverpool parade crash has been described by shocked neighbours as a man from a nice family. Residents in the calm and quiet cul-de-sac where the driver lives with his wife and three sons told the Mirror that the horror incident "just doesn't make sense". Authorities were granted more time to question the 53-year-old suspect from the West Derby area of the city after he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and drug-driving. Merseyside Police confirmed that the total number of injured has risen to 79, with seven still recovering from their wounds on Tuesday. The festivities marking Liverpool's Premier League triumph came to a harrowing end when a Ford Galaxy smashed into crowds in the city centre. Terrifying footage depicted supporters being flung upwards, pulled under the wheels and pushchairs thrown along Water Street. As police guarded his £300,000 four-bedroom home, the suspect's name surfaced to the public. However, we have chosen to conceal his identity. One neighbour said: "It seems completely out of character. They are such a nice family, the boys are really nice and well-behaved. [He] is a fantastic guy. He came over to help us when our alarm went off once, and then did the same for our immediate neighbours too. "It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't feel right. They are lovely. The whole thing is so sad - for his wife and children and also for the people who were injured." The suspect, a former director of two companies, can be seen in affectionate photos on social media, enjoying family holidays abroad and social gatherings. Another neighbour shared their shock when they saw police swarm their peaceful cul-de-sac on Monday. The individual had joked about a neighbour being the suspect, only to be horrified when he was indeed arrested. Police can be seen taking the alleged suspect away from the scene of the crash (Image: Video supplied ) They added: "We turned in and there were three or four police cars at the top of our road and we just said, 'Oh my God, imagine if he is on our road' and that was it and now we are like, 'S***.'" Police are expected to charge the suspect soon. The force has not disclosed what drugs they suspect the driver had consumed. Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson provided an update on Wednesday, saying: "I'm pleased to say that the number of people in hospital is reducing as they continue to recover from the awful incident. "We continue to support those still receiving treatment and as part of our ongoing enquiries we are identifying more people who were injured. I want to reassure the public of Merseyside that detectives are making significant progress as we seek to establish the full circumstances that led to what happened." The car can be seen surging through crowds in horrifying footage (Image: @EFC5555/X ) Among the injured was new father Daniel Eveson, who feared his family were "going to die" when his son's pram was dragged 15ft in the chaos. The shaken father said that the driver was screaming and "delirious" after fans pulled him from behind the wheel to prevent him from causing further harm. Daniel said: "He was just screaming, 'Get off, get away.' He seemed delirious. He just seemed like he didn't know where he was. It's a miracle that no one lost their lives." The 36-year-old from Telford, Shropshire, added that it was nothing short of a "miracle" that his family survived. He has now dubbed his five-month-old baby boy 'Super Ted' after he escaped completely unscathed. Police are continuing their investigations into the horror crash (Image: AP ) "He's our miracle. He's 'Super Ted'. I keep crying every time I hold him. I'm overwhelmed with relief that we've still got him, he didn't even break a finger," Daniel shared. Daniel revealed that his 36-year-old fiancée, Sheree Aldridge, is also "on the mend" after the car ran over her leg, causing muscle and tissue damage and lacerations. He added: "I basically held the pram but the pram got taken out of my hands and my hands went on the bonnet to try and stop the car. Article continues below "Then Sheree went up on the bonnet and then dropped off and then went under it. I looked to my side to see her and she just wasn't there," he said, before breaking down in tears and adding: "Oh my God, it was just horrible. I just want justice."

Liverpool crash update as mayor says four 'very, very ill' in hospital
Liverpool crash update as mayor says four 'very, very ill' in hospital Liverpool FC's Premier League trophy parade ended in horrific scenes on Monday evening as a car ploughed into pedestrians The scene on Water Street in Liverpool on Tuesday morning (Image: PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images ) Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram has issued an update on those injured after a car ploughed into a crowd during Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade in the city on Monday evening. Around 800,000 fans had lined the streets of the city to celebrate the title win, with the club's players and staff showing off the trophy as they travelled along the parade route on an open-top bus. However, the day ended in horrific scenes as a car collided with pedestrians on Water Street as the event drew to a close. Merseyside Police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance attended the scene and a 53-year-old white British man - believed to be the driver of the vehicle - was arrested. Police are not treating the incident as terrorism. It was confirmed during a press conference last night that 27 people were taken to hospital, with two - including a child - suffering serious injuries. You can follow the latest updates here. In an update on Tuesday morning, however, Mayor Rotheram told BBC Radio 5 Live that there are "still four people who are very, very ill in hospital" following the incident. "We are hoping of course that they pull through," he added, as he was asked if the new figure reflects an increase on the previous number of seriously injured. Article continues below "No, not directly," he continued. "But of course we're in liaison with the police and with the ambulance services. Last night they had two gold command meetings - one was really late in the evening, so this morning I'll get some updates." It has also been reported by the BBC that Liverpool FC have postponed a number of internal staff events celebrating their Premier League win that had been planned for today. Staff have reportedly been told in an internal email that the club "will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities," while they have been encouraged 'to come together at this time to support each other'. On Monday evening, the ambulance service said that a further 20 people - including four children - had been treated at the scene, while the fire service said that four people were trapped under the vehicle when they first arrived at the incident. However, the vehicle was quickly removed so that those injured could receive treatment. While the incident is not being treated as terrorism, it remains unclear exactly why it happened, with Mayor Rotheram warning people not to speculate about the driver of the vehicle. Article continues below "There's a lot of speculation and that's part of the problem," he said. "All those things caused real consternation, but the police acted very, very quickly to put paid to some of that speculation. "I don't think it's worth us speculating on what might have happened to the driver."

Create Account The $186-million boost that comes from making the Champions League is on the line for Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. Three of those five will qualify, two will have to settle for the Europa League. A chance to play with Europe's elite, the added funds to pay for new players and the enticement to bring in new players because you're in the top club competition all are significant prizes. For the neutral fan, it would be spectacular to see Nottingham Forest make it. True underdogs who many picked to be relegated before the season, the Tricky Trees hung around in the qualification spots all season but a blip in the last month where their small squad ran out of legs has seen them lose control of their destiny. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. They have the most enticing and direct match this weekend, facing Chelsea, the club in the fifth and last spot. But the fact is their order remains the tallest. City has 68 points and plays Fulham. Newcastle has 66 and plays Everton. Villa has 66 and plays woeful Manchester United, and Chelsea and Forest go head-to-head. If Forest wins, but so do City, Newcastle and Villa, Forest and Chelsea both miss out. While fans of Newcastle remain amongst the most dedicated in all of sport, it's tough to pull for a team owned by the Saudi government, with all of its baggage. But the bottom line is money talks in soccer and the fact that the three richest clubs in all of world sport — Newcastle, Manchester City and Chelsea — are in the mix can't be ignored. The fact Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are still in the fight is a great story and it would be brilliant to see them somehow see results fall their way to get into the tournament. And while City has won the Champions League once and Chelsea twice, Forest has twice been crowned Champions of Europe in the 1970s and Villa once in the 1980s. Proud clubs who have built themselves back into contention without a bottomless pit of money. As is tradition, all the games are played at the same time on the last day of the season so supporters will be as glued to their phones as they are to their own team's match as the roller-coasters all start together. The three teams that get the right result on Sunday will join Liverpool and Arsenal as English qualifiers. And, of course Tottenham, who qualified by winning the Europa League final 1-0 over similarly moribund Manchester United on Wednesday. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. After watching Spurs and United stumble through their worst league campaigns in decades, it seems a travesty two of those teams at the top of the table will miss out for Spurs, possibly the least-deserving qualifier in the history of the Champions League. The final was laughably entertaining in its mediocrity. A scuffed, deflected goal the difference but a game brimming with ineptitude. Spurs sit in 17th place — one above the relegation spots — have conceded 61 goals, 16 more than Nottingham Forest, and have qualified. They severely need to upgrade to compete in the top tier next season. It had been 17 years since Spurs previously won a trophy of any sort, so you have to be happy for their supporters who have endured a lot with their club. And you must give them credit for progressing to the final and winning it. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. They are a proud club that have been run in a comical fashion by chairman Daniel Levy, wasting money on dreadful purchases and changing managers far too frequently. But their supporters have stood by them through it all and now they have a chance to spend money properly and recruit to match the standing of the proud London club. For United, it's a disaster. Cutting budgets, selling players, still facing massive questions about their new manager — it's a club in disarray that will try, once again, to spend its way out of trouble. Party on at Anfield If there's one other match that will draw eyeballs on Sunday, it's Crystal Palace at Liverpool. The winner won't matter, but it will be party time inside Anfield, Liverpool's famous old stadium. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. After the match, the Reds will get their hands on the trophy as champions of England for the record-tying 20th time. The previous time they won, in 2020, the stands were empty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The atmosphere will be raucous, the celebrations will go long into the night and the parade the following day through the streets of Liverpool is being estimated to attract close to a million people. An interesting side note, the match will be a preview of next season's ceremonial curtain-raiser — the Community Shield — when Liverpool as Champions will meet Palace, winners of the FA Cup last weekend over Manchester City. That in and of itself was a fantastic story, seeing Palace win its first major trophy in its 120-year history. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Read More Spurs, breaking a 17-year drought, Palace, snapping a 125 year-old one, and Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup for their first domestic trophy win in 70 years were all heartwarming. Seeing long-suffering supporters who follow their teams year-in, year-out, at home and on the road, be rewarded with memorable seasons helps supplant the lack of drama at the top and bottom of the table, where the fate of the relegation teams and the champions has been known for weeks. One more weekend and then it's on to the Club World Cup in June before the buying and selling starts for the next Premier League season next August.
