"Darius actually made his name. He wanted both our names, which is so crazy," she said, joking about how the practice of combining the parents' names is seemingly common in Chicago. "So yeah, that was him trying to put like Darius and Lauren, like Leodis, like it was just too much, but I said, 'Hey, let's do it. It's adorable.' " "I was pregnant, anything went. In the sweet tribute on her Instagram, she shared a collection of photos and videos from the past two years. In the post, Palmer included a video of her doing her son's hair and another of her kissing him on the cheek as a baby. She also shared pictures of her and her son, including one where they both were sticking their tongues out. Another snap showed Palmer lying on the floor as he sat on her stomach and looked at the camera. "My life can and will never be the same. You have made me who I will forever be, a MOTHA," Palmer wrote in her caption. "Leodis from the moment you were in my stomach I knew you were a strong little boy. I could just feel it!" Desi Banks To Star In Sitcom At BET Studios Based On His Life & Comedy

The Atlanta-born comic is developing a half-hour sitcom with BET Studios, loosely based on his real-life experiences and comedy routines. Read more inside. Variety reports the untitled multi-camera comedy will follow a 'lovable yet stubborn comedian on the rise as he attempts to balance fatherhood, relationships, and the pursuit of his ever-present dream.' The premise mirrors Banks' own life journey. From creating viral sketches online to performing on national tours alongside comedy giants like Mike Epps, Martin Lawrence, and Kountry Wayne, the show is set to be as entertaining as his stage act. Banks is co-writing the project with fellow Atlanta native Malcolm 'Champ' Heaggans. Both will also serve as executive producers on the series. The show's creative team is full of ATL synergy, with backing from Quality Films and 3 Arts Entertainment's new Atlanta-based office, run by Jermaine Johnson. Chappell Roan Admits Backlash Gets to Her: 'It Makes Me Cry'
Chappell Roan is fierce all around, whether through her larger-than-life music, drag-inspired fashion, or how she publicly stands up for herself. While she has spoken her mind multiple times, the Grammy winner recently opened up about the constant criticism she receives and how it sits with her during a conversation with SZA for Interview magazine. 'I guess I wondered if you gave a fuck about the backlash,' the SOS singer asked, to which Chappell responded, 'I didn't, until people started hating me for me and not for my art.' The 'Pink Pony Club' hitmaker, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, continued, 'When it's not about my art anymore, it's like, 'They hate me because I'm Kayleigh, not because they hate the songs that I make.' That's when it changed.' She added that while people know her as her public, on-stage persona, they don't know who she really is deep down. 'But when things are taken out of context, people assume so much about you. I didn't realize I'd care so much. When it comes to my art, I'm like, 'Bitch, you can think whatever you want. You are allowed to hate it with all your guts,'' she shared. 'But when it comes to me and my personality, it's like, 'Damn. Am I the most insufferable bitch of our generation?'' SZA, who initially rose to fame in the 2010s because of her booming music career, shared a similar sentiment. Upon hearing Chappell's confession, the One of Them Days star revealed she 'felt relieved' that she 'gives a fuck' and reassured her that it's beautiful to feel deeply. 'I felt like I was a punk bitch for feeling the way that I feel, because I'm just like, 'Oh, maybe I'm just not cut out for this shit,'' SZA said, referencing her fame. 'Because everybody else who's cut out for this shit doesn't give a fuck. But that's not true.' 'The Giver' singer then said that reading backlash aimed at her sometimes brings her to tears. 'It makes me cry,' she admitted. 'I don't know if it will ever feel okay to hear someone say something really hateful about me.' Elsewhere in the interview, the stars chatted about believing in magic and gushed about their mutual admiration for each other. Earlier this year, SZA reacted to Chappell naming her as a dream collaboration on Call Her Daddy, saying, 'Actually didn't believe this quote when I saw it written til I saw it come out her mouth jus now CAUSE DEAD ASS SAME.' Bill Pullman & Rick Moranis Returning For New ‘Spaceballs'; Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman Also Set
EXCLUSIVE, updated with new, nonexclusive details: Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are set to reprise their respective roles as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet in the new Spaceballs movie from Amazon MGM Studios, with Keke Palmer (One of Them Days) joining the cast, sources tell Deadline. Amazon declined to comment, and character details for Palmer are under wraps, as is the sequel's plot. Also newly aboard in an undisclosed role is Pullman's son, rising star Lewis Pullman (Thunderbolts*), as THR was first to report this afternoon. As announced this morning, the original film's director and star, Mel Brooks, will also feature in the cast once again, reprising his role as Yogurt. Slated for release in theaters in 2027, the film has been described by those who have not yet read the script as 'A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.' Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) will direct from a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, as announced in June of last year. Gad is also expected to star and will produce alongside Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Jeb Brody, Brooks, and Greenbaum, with Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez exec producing. Released by MGM in 1987, the original Spaceballs is an iconic send-up of the sci-fi genre, which took inspiration from the Star Wars franchise and other classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey. The plot revolves around the evil Dark Helmet (Moranis) and President Skroob (Brooks), who attempt to steal the atmosphere of the peaceful planet Druidia, only to be thwarted by the hero Lone Starr (Pullman), his sidekick Barf (John Candy), and the Druish princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga). Others in the cast included Joan Rivers and Dick Van Patten. The film grossed just over $38.1 worldwide but has endured over the years as a cult classic. Otherwise best known for turns in iconic works like Independence Day and David Lynch's Lost Highway, Pullman has most recently been seen starring in series like The Sinner, as well as films including The High Note and Dark Waters. Upcoming, he has the Duffer Brothers' Netflix series The Boroughs, A24's Famous opposite Zac Efron, and more. An icon of the '80s and '90s, Moranis rose to fame with roles in Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids films and more, after writing and starring in famed Canadian sketch series SCTV. Famously, he for the most part stepped away from acting in the late '90s, focusing on raising his children following the passing of his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky. Most recently, he teamed with Ryan Reynolds on a 2020 ad for Mint Mobile. Palmer is coming off of success with One of Them Days, a TriStar buddy comedy where she stars opposite SZA, which recently got a sequel set up for development. Next up, she'll be seen in The Pickup, Amazon's heist comedy out August 6, opposite Eddie Murphy; Aziz Ansari's Lionsgate comedy Good Fortune, out October 17; and Boots Riley's Neon pic I Love Boosters. This Hit Keke Palmer and SZA Movie Has a Whopping 94 Percent on Rotten Tomatoes—and Now It's Getting a Sequel
One of Them Days is officially getting a sequel. The buddy comedy, starring Keke Palmer and SZA that proved to be a sleeper hit at the box office earlier this year, is back in action, according to an exclusive from Variety. The sequel, which Issa Rae is producing, is in early development at TriStar Pictures, and while details of the plot are being kept under wraps, both Palmer and SZA are expected to reprise their roles. One of Them Days debuted with a whopping 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes upon its release, narrowly beating out Mufasa for the number one box office spot over MLK weekend. (The film currently still has a 94 percent on RT.) It also reached the number one spot on Netflix when it made its streaming debut. In the movie, Palmer and SZA star as best friends and roommates, Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA). They encounter a day of dramatic chaos, as a young woman's boyfriend takes the rent money, putting them in a situation where they have to come up with $1,500 before the end of the day. Considered something of a modern female version of Friday, it also stars notable names like Janelle James, Lil Rel Howery, Maude Apatow and Katt Williams. One of Them Days was produced by Issa Rae in conjunction with her Hoorae Media production company and directed by Lawrence The Met Museum/Vogue Palmer served as an executive producer as well, telling The Cut in a January 2025 profile: "I had to really be specific about what needed to change, what the jokes were going to say, what story we're telling about where these two characters come from," she told the publication. "I was more than just an actor doing the role. I really cared about the project as a whole. The result is a surprisingly heartfelt buddy comedy that's also a story of gentrification, about community, about joy in the midst of hardship." In my review of the film, I wrote that one of the most enjoyable parts of the film was the slapstick comedy that wasn't traditionally "funny," but became humorous because of how ridiculous it was.
