Did BTS' Suga Complete His Military Duties Before Official Discharge Date?
Last Updated: As the idol was marked 'unfit for regular combat duty", Suga served as a social service agent, which is a non-combat position in the South Korean military. With RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook already back to civilian life, ARMYs are waiting for Suga's discharge, which will reunite BTS after a wait of nearly three years. Min Yoongi, aka Suga, effectively completed his mandatory military service a couple of days before what was previously revealed, which led to speculations of whether he would be discharged earlier than his scheduled day. While Suga has completed his public service duties as of Wednesday, June 18, his official discharge date is still June 21. As reported by News1, the BTS member is using his remaining vacation days and no longer needs to go back to his workplace and report for duty after June 18. This was done through the standard process, and Suga did not receive any special treatment. Suga began his alternative military service on September 22, 2023, and also completed the basic training upon enlistment. Unlike the other six members of BTS who served in regular military roles, Suga's service was a bit different. As the idol was marked 'unfit for regular combat duty", probably due to his 2020 shoulder surgery, Suga served as a social service agent, which is a non-combat position in the South Korean military. His duties were more focused towards public service work rather than physical military tasks. Suga had to serve 21 months as a social service agent, instead of the usual 18 months' duty that the other BTS members served. Now that Suga's service is nearly over, fans are buzzing with excitement about the reunion of the OT7, which fans got a glimpse of recently. On June 13, on the occasion of BTS' 12th anniversary, all seven members of the globally renowned K-pop group were seen together at J-Hope's encore concert at the Goyang Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. Suga was also present, although he kept his appearance low-key in a beanie and mask, avoiding showing his face. As per a report by The Korea Herald, BTS is also planning to make a mega comeback to the music scene next year. Reportedly, the septet is set to make its long-awaited full-group comeback in March 2026. Moreover, J-Hope, during his appearance on MBC's variety show Point of Omniscient Interfere, talked about BTS' comeback. He said, 'We're planning to gather and discuss the album. We're trying to prepare as quickly as possible. Since BTS is all about performances, we're also planning a full group world tour," which increased the excitement among fans manifold. The finale of BTS rapper J-Hope's HOPE ON THE STAGE is drawing to a close, with the final concert taking place on June 14 at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. While all the members were present at the venue the previous day—with even Jin and Jungkook joining J-Hope on stage for a performance—none of them appeared on June 14. ARMY began to wonder where the members were, as none were spotted in the VIP section. In fact, during J-Hope's performance of i wonder…, his duet with Jungkook, the maknae didn't appear on stage—leaving fans questioning their absence. Is the Kim Taehyung? While no BTS members were seen, ARMY did circulate one photo online they believed to be V aka Kim Taehyung. Many on X (formerly known as Twitter) questioned if that is Taehyung or someone else peeking from behind the curtains. TAEHYUNG IS THERE However, there were a few who stated that it was not Taehyung. False alarm, the sighting wasn't of Taehyung today. OT7 performance by BTS members? Coach Dan Lanning and his staff have now prioritized Lyons, who could be similar to Bo Nix in that offense with more athleticism outside the pocket, and BYU just feels like a stretch at this point. VANCE SPAFFORD, Miami (June 20) Spafford remains committed to Georgia but he's going through his visit schedule this month starting at Washington, at UCLA this weekend, then he'll be at Georgia and will close out June at Miami before the Rivals Five-Star and then back to South Florida for the OT7 nationals. It's a busy time for the Mission Viejo, Calif. Standout. Advertisement A commitment to the Bulldogs since early November, the biggest threat to flip Spafford is Miami as he loves Coral Gables, the coaches there and the opportunity at wide receiver. That he's taking his final visit there is also telling but Georgia will have its chance soon as well. JETT WASHINGTON, Oregon (this weekend) Washington canceled his Ohio State official visit to move up his Oregon visit - another sign that the Ducks are a major frontrunner in his recruitment. The Ducks are very high on the list with Alabama (where he already visited) and Washington took a mid-week trip to USC as well. This will be the last official visit - for now - for the four-star safety from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman and that's a great sign for Oregon. He moved up his trip, it's his final planned trip for now and the Ducks have been in a strong position throughout his recruitment. The Ducks are sitting pretty - if things go really well this weekend. RICHARD WESLEY, Oregon (this weekend) On May 10 during a visit to Oregon, the five-star defensive end jumped in a pool with coach Dan Lanning to announce his commitment to the Ducks. Before he could dry off, the Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon standout had backed off that pledge 17 days later since he didn't clear the pledge with those close to him. Wesley is back at Oregon this weekend as the coaching staff looks to continue to mend fences and work on getting Wesley back in the fold as the Ducks have always been one of his favorites. The five-star standout is also considering Ohio State, Texas A&M, Texas and others but Oregon can put itself back in a great spot with a solid visit this weekend.
