Walker who injured ankle above Crummock Water rescued
A walker with an injured ankle has been rescued by Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT). Cockermouth MRT were deployed on Thursday, June 12 after receiving a call about a walker who had injured their ankle near Scale Force above Crummock Water. Upon arrival at the scene, the MRT were able to assess the casualty before they were stretchered to a waiting ambulance at Buttermere. Writing on social media, Cockermouth MRT said: "The team worked its way down the valley before heading in on foot from Buttermere. "Two team members in the vicinity were already on scene and had assessed the casualty, identifying an isolated ankle injury. The walker's ankle was splinted, then they were packaged on to a stretcher and carried to a waiting NWAS ambulance at Buttermere. "The team wishes the casualty a speedy recovery." The rescue involve 16 team members from Cockermouth MRT and lasted three hours.

"Through all of this she has lost three close loved ones in the space of 18 months and seen herself go from the most outgoing person to someone who battled mental health everyday just to survive. "But she made a promise to herself and more importantly her four children to not let this consume her, and after months of work and putting herself first she's coming out the other end." Megan Stephenson Megan Stephenson (Image: Supplied) Megan is a community resuscitation officer in the community for the North West Ambulance Service. She took on the role on a secondment, but has since raised over £20k for the NWAS charity reinstating over 85 community defibs in the most rural areas. Her nominator said: "She never has a day off even if we are out on a walk she will still check if she sees a defib to check it's in working order. "She is professional, honest but also a mum she never stops she takes her job so seriously and never takes the praise she truly deserves." Her nominator said: "Whether she is supporting breastfeeding journeys, providing a listening ear to struggling mothers, or helping families navigate the challenges of mental health, Zian's dedication is extraordinary. "Zian's impact extends far beyond her work—she is a true advocate, an inspiration, and a pillar of strength for those who need it most."

Air ambulance in attendance following 'serious motorcycle collision' on M6
An air ambulance was on scene following a serious collision on the M6 this evening. Traffic was temporarily stopped on the M6 in both directions between J29 Leyland and J28 due to a serious collision at around 7pm. National Highways confirmed that an air ambulance attended the scene, with delays of around 20 minutes. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "National Highways can confirm that a collision occurred involving a motorcyclist on the M6 between Junction 29 (Leyland) and Junction 28 (M65). "The incident happened at around 7pm. All lanes of the motorway were temporarily closed but have since been opened and delays have now cleared. The M6 Junction 28 slip road (south) remains closed for the recovery of the vehicle." READ MORE: The extent of injuries obtained or the circumstances surrounding the collision currently remain unclear. The carriageways were opened minutes later, with the exit slip road at J28 remains closed to aid vehicle recovery. NWAS has been contacted for comment.

Keir Starmer issues statement after Liverpool parade crash
Starmer said the nation's thoughts are with the victims and the wider community. During Liverpool's Premier League victory parade, four children were among around 50 who were injured – including one child who was seriously hurt. At a press conference late on Monday evening, Dave Kitchin from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said 27 people were taken to hospital and 20 people were treated at the scene, with four children among the injured. The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident. I'm being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police… Since the incident on Monday in Water Street in the city centre, a 53-year-old man has been arrested. Merseyside Police said the suspect was the driver of the car, white, British and from the Liverpool area, and added that it was not being treated as terrorism. Today (May 27), Starmer said: 'Scenes of joy turned to utter horror and devastation, and my thoughts and the thoughts of the whole country are with all of those that are affected, those injured, which of course includes children, their families, their friends, the whole community, Liverpool fans everywhere.
