Help find Hennie: Family offers monetary reward for information

POLOKWANE – A reward of R5 000 is being offered to anyone with reliable information that can lead to the whereabouts of Hendrick 'Hennie' van Zyl (32). Van Zyl left his home in Polokwane on June 7 and was en route to the Greenery Shopping Centre at the time of his disappearance. Read more: Polokwane police search for missing man Hendrick van Zyl This is according to his cousin, Chris Barnard, who told the Polokwane Review-Observer that the family hopes the monetary reward will increase the chances of his cousin being found, as he has been missing for seven days now. At around 13:00 on June 7, van Zyl informed his grandparents that he would walk to the shopping center and return in about 30 minutes but never made it home. This prompted the family to file a missing person's docket three days later at the Polokwane Police Station. Van Zyl left home dressed in a green check shirt, a brownish jacket, blue jeans and black sneakers, the family representative confirmed. Barnard said Van Zyl started working as a fleet manager for a popular vehicle tracking company this June and has also worked for a Johannesburg-based medical facility. 'He is a kind soul but he needs his family, as his aunt, my mother, passed away three months ago, which has had an impact on him very much like the rest of the family,' Barnard said. Polokwane Community-Policing Forum chairperson Rudolph Phaswana said photos of Van Zyl were posted across many local community social media platforms with no results. Those with information are requested to contact the investigating officer Sgt Mokgadi Molope on 082 728 9831, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPSApp. At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Midnight church robbery: Armed assailants steal pastor's Audi SUV and amplifiers

Armed robbers invaded the church in Mpumalanga and got away with the pastor's white Audi Q3 SUV with registration number KFM 302 MP, which the assailants used to flee the scene. Image: File Police at Masoyi, in Mpumalanga, have launched an investigation into a case of business robbery after armed suspects stormed a church during a night prayer service and robbed congregants. Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said the incident happened in Numbi, shortly after midnight on Saturday morning. 'According to information received, congregants were attending an overnight prayer session at The Moving Ministries of God Church in Numbi, when five unknown African males wearing balaclavas entered the church while worshippers were praying,' said Ndubane. 'The stolen items were loaded into a white Audi Q3 SUV with registration number KFM 302 MP, which the suspects used to flee the scene. The vehicle has not been recovered at this stage, but tracking efforts are ongoing through the Cartrack company,' said Ndubane. She said no injuries were reported during the incident, and no shots were fired. On Saturday afternoon, police said no arrests had been made. Police launch manhunt after school pupil ‘kidnapped by fake cops'

The police's task team in Bloemfontein, Free State is searching for 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi, who was allegedly kidnapped by two men impersonating police on Thursday. According to police, the complainant, Daniel Malebatso, arrived at Marti Du Plessis School in Fitchardpark as usual to fetch Baukudi, who is a grade 11 pupil at the school. "The two left the school premises with Baukudi driving the Suzuki Ertiga," said provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Thabo Covane. While driving on Vereeniging Drive Erlichpark in Extension, Malebatso alleged they heard a siren sound from behind and were pulled over by occupants in a white Toyota Hilux GD-6 double cab. "Inside the Toyota Hilux, there were two unknown male persons, one wearing a police uniform and the other a blue tracksuit," said Covane. The suspects' bakkie was allegedly fitted with blue lights on the grill and what appeared to be a police radio inside. Covane said the suspect wearing a police uniform told Malebatso the Suzuki Ertiga they were driving was suspected of delivering drugs. He said the suspects then allegedly separated Baukudi and Malebatso and instructed Malebatso to drive at the front while they followed from behind to the Park Road police station. "The two vehicles turned back and drove in a westerly direction on Vereeniging Drive. Malebatso alleged a truck moved in between the two vehicles and he did not see the the Hilux again. "He said one suspect was speaking Sesotho fluently and mentioned the name 'Thipe'. Cellphones belonging to Baukudi and Malebatso were found under a bridge on Ferrera Road." A case of kidnapping and impersonating police was opened at the Parkweg police station. Any member of the public who might have information that can help the police find Baukudi and might have seen the vehicles while on Vereeniging Drive is requested to contact Capt Sabata Jafta Moseme at 082 5262 713.
