Financier makes insane profit from Brisbane mansion boom

A Brisbane financier has made $4m in 12 months from the sale of his Mediterranean-inspired mansion in a clear sign the city's luxury home market is booming. Michael Stewart, director of Lead Partners Private Wealth, paid $8.7m for the Graya-built property at 20 Langside Rd, Hamilton, last year, and has just settled the resale for $12.5m. The Hamilton Hill home known as 'Casa Espri' was sold in May last year by commercial property deal-maker Mike Walsh and attracted interest from crypto kings, tech gurus, and cashed-up locals like Mr Stewart. Mr Walsh bought the corner block with its older-style residence back in 2020, picking it up for just $1.7m as the real estate market was initially rocked by the uncertainty of Covid. The Brisbane market is buzzing with news of big money changing hands for trophy homes across the city. Just last week, 52 Wendell St in Norman Park fetched $13m and 56 Windermere Rd in Hamilton transacted for the same amount. Mr Stewart and his wife, Natasha, are understood to be the buyers of the 2000 sqm Windermere Rd property — swapping 'Casa Espri' for a bigger block of land in the same suburb. Zac Efron's Aussie long lunch haunt is on the market But it doesn't have quite the same rockstar looks as 20 Langside Rd. Spanning four levels, the Spanish-inspired residence features a gym, a cinema, a pool, and a rooftop entertaining lounge complete with a cocktail bar, teppanyaki grill, pizza oven and firepit. The sale is understood to have been handled offmarket, with the buyer still undisclosed. Purdy Developments founder Craig Purdy said luxury homes took three to four years to build in Brisbane now, with a new house in inner Brisbane selling for no less than $10m. Mr Purdy said house-sized, inner-city apartments were also in strong demand. 'People are accepting lifestyle is more important than what they live in,' he said. 'It's eye-watering how long it takes to do prestige product now. 'Sites are so expensive, then you've got the construction costs, and finding a builder. It seems people are prepared to pay for it though — that's the irony.'

The pundit has been looking ahead to a new campaign in Gorgie with Derek McInnes as head coach, backed in the transfer market by Jamestown Analytics. Brighton owner Bloom has proposed investment on the table as the club look to get back fighting for third after a bottom six Premiership finish. Former Hearts midfielder Stewart, however, reckons Bloom could be looking beyond third as part of his Tynecastle ambition. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad With other teams around the league growing in strength, he senses Hearts have a big chance to make some strides up the table. So far this summer, they have already made strides to equip McInnes with new signings. Claudio Braga and Daniel Arzani are two attack-minded targets while Alexandros Kyziridis, Elton Kabangu and Christian Borchgrevink, have all signed permanent deals. Their campaign starts in the Premier Sports Cup group stage next month. Michael Stewart provides Hearts verdict He said on Sportsound: 'It's a huge opportunity for them and one that if they can get it right, there's a real opportunity to go and make a mark because with all the turnover and the change at Ibrox as well, you just never know how things are going to play out. So, am I suggesting that Hearts are going to be able to go and compete with Rangers? No, but you would be looking from a Hearts perspective to go and get back challenging for third because this season was nowhere near good enough. 'If they're doing that and Rangers at the same time are, you know, struggling, then you might be able to get a little bit closer to second. Especially if the likes of Aberdeen and Hibs, who obviously have been up competing for third this season, if they're competitive again next year, then you've got a situation where a lot of our stronger teams, Dundee United obviously finishing fourth this year, where they're able to take points off of each other and the likes of Rangers and Celtic. It could become quite an interesting top six for next season.' Tony Bloom verdict from Michael Stewart He added: 'To come back to that original point, if Hearts are in a position to capitalise on that, it could be interesting to see where they're able to get to. Because I would imagine, look, next season, they need to be looking to try to challenge those European spots again. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'And I would think that with that investment, Tony Bloom, he's not someone that's going to come in and mess about. I think he'll have his sights set on trying to get that gap between third and second to begin with, a lot tighter.'

The Satanic Grotto sets date for ‘Witching Hour' protest

Context: The above video initially aired on May 29. TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Satanic Grotto has announced a new protest after a 'Black Mass' demonstration in the Kansas Statehouse resulted in its leader, Michael Stewart, being arrested. The new protest The Satanic Grotto has planned for the Statehouse will be called the 'Witching Hour Protest', according to the event listing. The Satanic Grotto said that it will include live music and speeches from community leaders. 'The Grotto calls to all that walk the paths of magic, the moon, and the night,' the Satanic Grotto wrote on social media. 'We will gather together at the halls of power and together our spirit will shatter their walls.' City has spent over $10 million on Hotel Topeka The event will last for three hours and start at 9 p.m. on Aug. 2, according to the event listing. The Satanic Grotto reported that permits are pending and some details may change. 'The goal behind this new one [Witching Hour Protest] I think is to start getting solidarity between these fringe religions and groups here in Kansas that might feel isolated and feel like they don't have any power on their own,' Stewart told 27 News in late May. Officers tackled Michael Stewart, president of the Satanic Grotto, to the floor inside the Kansas Statehouse rotunda on March 28 as he attempted to hold a Black Mass ceremony. He entered the building to hold the event after being warned by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to move the ceremony to the outer grounds. An officer told Stewart as he entered the Kansas Statehouse that he was welcome to enter the building, but could not hold an event or cause a disruption, or he would be arrested. Another individual who was involved in the physical altercation with Stewart, a 21-year-old man, was also arrested, in addition to a handful of other Satanic Grotto members. Prosecutors haven't filed charges against Stewart at this time. Rainfall reports for northeast Kansas Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay told 27 News that his office has yet to make a decision on whether or not charges will be filed in connection to the Black Mass event on March 28. A total of four people, including Stewart, were arrested as Stewart tried to hold the ceremony inside the Statehouse building. Dozens of Catholics and Christians gathered at the Kansas Statehouse to protest the planned Black Mass. Both Kansas lawmakers and the Catholic Archdiocese of Kansas City condemned the Black Mass in the days leading up allegedly due to the anti-Catholic nature of the ceremony. More Satanic protests planned for Kansas Statehouse

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Satanic organization is planning additional protests at the Kansas Statehouse after an earlier 'Black Mass' ceremony turned violent and ended in several arrests. Michael Stewart, president of the Satanic Grotto, said his organization has plans to hold more protests in Topeka in the coming days. Stewart and other participants were arrested during a controversial Black Mass ceremony inside the Kansas Statehouse in March this year, but that isn't deterring Stewart from returning to the home of the state's Legislature. Stewart told Rebekah Chung with 27 News' Capitol Bureau that he is planning to hold other events at the Statehouse soon. One of these includes a 'Witching Hour Protest.' 'Yes, that's what we're working on,' Steward said. 'We're gonna send in a permit here pretty soon for what I like to call the Witching Hour Protest. We'll be showing up here at midnight and we will be inviting not just Satanists but pagans, wiccans.' Former Kickapoo leader pleads guilty to child pornography crime Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay told 27 News earlier this week his office has yet to make a decision on whether or not charges will be filed in connection to the Black Mass event on March 28. Four people, including Stewart, were arrested as Stewart tried to hold the ceremony inside the Statehouse building. The Black Mass sparked controversy in the days leading up to it, especially among Catholic and Christian organizations. Members of the Kansas Legislature and Governor Laura Kelly issued statements as the Black Mass approached with many legislators condemning it. 'The goal behind this new one [Witching Hour Protest] I think is to start getting solidarity between these fringe religions and groups here in Kansas that might feel isolated and feel like they don't have any power on their own,' Stewart said.
