Ed Sheeran sings in Punjabi in new song Sapphire

Ed Sheeran has paid tribute to India in his new song, singing a line in Punjabi. In Sapphire, the English singer breaks into Punjabi for one line in the chorus, which translates to 'they sparkle just like stars'. Sheeran has collaborated with Indian playback singer Arijit Singh on the new single, a collaboration he described as the 'final jigsaw piece' in recording the track. Singh also plays the sitar on the track. The video for the song is filmed in various locations around India, and was shot earlier this year while Sheeran was on tour in the country. ' Sapphire was the first song I finished for Play that made me know where the album was heading,' Sheeran wrote about his new single in an Instagram caption. 'It's why I finished the recording process in Goa surrounded by some of the best musicians in India.' Speaking of filming the video in India, he wrote: 'We wanted to showcase the beauty and breadth of the country and its culture.' He added that the song is his favourite on the album and he has recorded a version entirely in Punjabi with Singh, which he promises 'will come out in the next few weeks'. Sheeran took his +−=÷× Tour (said The Mathematics Tour) to India in January and February this year, performing seven dates in six locations, last year he also performed a standalone night in Mumbai. Sheeran's upcoming album, Play, is set to be released in September. He has already released singles Old Phone and Azizam, as well as Sapphire. Azizam is heavily influenced by the region. The song was co-written by Swedish–Iranian songwriter Ilya Salmanzadeh. Discussing the single on Instagram, Sheeran said the track draws on Iranian musical influences, which he found echoes aspects of traditional Irish folk. 'I wrote Azizam after Ilya suggested trying out music inspired by his Persian heritage and culture,' he said. 'I love learning about music and different cultures the more I travel and connect with people. It was like opening a door to a completely new and exciting world. 'I loved how a lot of the rhythms, scales, melodies and instruments were different but similar to the Irish trad music I grew up with. It showed me that music connects us all – it really is a universal language. This whole album is about being playful, explorative and celebratory.' In March, a large heart-shaped balloon was put on display in at Bla Bla beach club and dining venue in Dubai's JBR district to promote the single.

Ed Sheeran reacts to scary fall during 2025 tour return

The post Ed Sheeran reacts to scary fall during 2025 tour return appeared first on ClutchPoints. Going on tour can be dangerous, as singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran learned as he started his 2025 European leg of the Mathematics Tour. During one of his recent concerts in Madrid, Spain, Sheeran tripped while walking to his loop pedal. The loop pedal is on a platform in the center of his stage, and he tripped over one of the steps. Luckily, he got right back up and continued on. Sheeran saw the viral video on TikTok and responded. He seemingly took it in stride despite the video going viral. 'Happens more than you think,' he wrote in the comments. The concert was not affected by the fall. Sheeran continued on with his hit-filled set, and fans went home happy despite the scary incident. To be fair, Sheeran's latest shows marked the return of his 360-degree stage. Some of his earlier shows this year did not feature his 360-degree stage, so he didn't have to worry about these platforms. Yes, Sheeran is going to be on tour in 2025. However, his remaining shows are part of his final European leg of the Mathematics Tour. Currently, he does not have any other planned dates after September 7, 2025. Luckily, a new tour could ensue after the Mathematics Tour ends. His next album, Play, will be coming out in September 2025 as well. Perhaps he will launch a new tour to celebrate his new era that is starting with the album. While on the Mathematics Tour, Sheeran will also perform three special homecoming shows in Ipswich, England, from July 11-13, 2025. These will presumably be centered around his Play album. The Mathematics Tour is a celebration of the first era of Sheeran's career. He mostly plays songs from his first six albums, and he also released Subtract and Autumn Variations while on tour in 2023. It started in April 2022 in support of his Equals album, which was released in 2021. Sheeran is now in his fourth year of this tour, and over 160 shows are planned for the itinerary. He will next play in Marseille, France, on June 6 and 7. His tour will go across Europe throughout the summer and into the fall. The tour is set to conclude in Düsseldorf, Germany. Play is the eighth studio album released by Sheeran. The first single, 'Azizam,' was released on April 4, 2025. A second single, 'Old Phone,' was released on May 1. The album's third single, 'Sapphire,' will come out on June 5.

Ed Sheeran wows fans with debut performance of new song

The post Ed Sheeran wows fans with debut performance of new song appeared first on ClutchPoints. Finally, fans of Ed Sheeran have heard his new song 'Sapphire' from his upcoming album Play. He performed it during a concert for the first time during his May 30, 2025, Mathematics Tour stop in Madrid, Spain. During the next show on the following night, Sheeran once again performed it along with another unreleased song from the album called 'Opening.' Videos have surfaced of Sheeran performing the song for the first time with his loop pedal. He had previously performed acoustic versions of it at his Old Phone pub. The video showed him constructing the layers of the song. While the song is unreleased, the crowd chanted 'Sapphire!' during the chorus. 'Your lights, your face, your eyes exploding like fireworks in the sky,' Sheeran sings. 'Sapphire' is a signature Sheeran pop song. Its infectious and upbeat tone is bound to be an earworm for fans, and the official song drops on June 5, 2025, as a single. It will be the third single from his upcoming album Play. Previously, Sheeran released 'Azizam' and 'Old Phone' on April 4 and May 1, respectively. Whether or not Sheeran plans on releasing more singles for the album is unknown. Play will be released on September 12, 2025, so there will be over three months between 'Sapphire' and the album drop. Sheeran's two shows in Madrid, Spain, mark the start of the final European leg of the Mathematics Tour. In July, Sheeran will play shows in his hometown of Ipswich, England, to promote Play. The Mathematics Tour is Sheeran's longest to date. It started in 2022 and is in its fourth year on the road. It will conclude in September 2025 when he visits Germany again. A total of 168 shows are planned for the tour's run over the last few years. That is still nearly 100 fewer shows than his last tour, the Divide Tour, which stretched from March 16, 2017, to August 26, 2019. While on the Mathematics Tour, Sheeran has released two albums. Subtract and Autumn Variations both came out in 2023. Additionally, he has released a greatest hits album (The Mathematics Tour Collection) and his first live album, Tour Collection: Live.

Ed Sheeran accidentally confirms return to Australia as fans brace for another record-breaking tour

Ed Sheeran has accidentally let slip that he'll be returning to Australia in early 2026 - three years after his record breaking tour Down Under. The British hitmaker, 34, made the casual revelation in a TikTok comment this week, setting off a frenzy among fans already preparing for the next stadium spectacular. The tour bombshell was picked up by Nova 96.9 radio host Smallzy who shared the exchange to his Instagram Story with the hilarious caption: 'BRB selling organs to buy concert tickets'. In the now-viral TikTok, a fan asked the singer: 'How does coming back to Australia soon sound to you?' Ed, without skipping a beat, replied: 'Start of 2026'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While no official announcement has been made, Daily Mail Australia reached out to the star's management team - who didn't deny the claim but teased that something major is coming. 'We aren't in the habit of pre-announcing announcements – but there will be news on our plans for 26 later this summer,' a spokesperson said. It comes as Sheeran continues to trek across Europe on his Mathematics Tour, which first kicked off in Dublin in 2022 and is currently selling out stadiums in Madrid and beyond. The multi-platinum artist last performed in Australia in 2023, where he made headlines for smashing attendance records. Since then, the father-of-two has continued to drop new music, including the emotional tracks Azizam and Old Phone, rumoured to be featured on his eighth studio album. With smash hits like Shape of You, Perfect and Photograph each pulling in more than two billion Spotify streams, Sheeran remains one of the most successful artists of his generation. He currently boasts 90 million monthly listeners on the platform, making him the third-most followed artist globally. Over the years, the former busker-turned-global superstar has collaborated with music royalty including Adele, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Beyoncé - cementing his place in pop history. It comes after last week Ed shared a series of throwback snaps to Instagram, including a fun selfie with Taylor Swift, while also reflecting on his copyright trial. The star launched a new Instagram account to celebrate his 'emotional' new single Old Phone. The account featured a number of never-before-seen pictures, texts, and lyric notes, and came ahead of the release of his new single on Thursday April 29. Ed was inspired to write the new song when revisiting his old phone during the copyright lawsuit around his hit single Thinking Out Loud. At the time, Ed denied he had ripped off Marvin Gaye's soul classic Let's Get it On for his 2014 hit song, and in 2023 was cleared in court. Explaining the new account, Ed penned in a new Instagram post: 'Put the sound on and have a listen. I got rid of my phone 2015, and moved onto email full time. I just turned my phone off December '15 and that was it. 'When I got sued, the judge ordered me to give up my old devices to the other sides lawyers, to look through messages, emails, voice notes, videos, etc, to see if there was anything on there to help their case. In the process, I switched on my old phone. It comes after last week Ed shared a series of throwback snaps to Instagram while also reflecting on his copyright trial 'The first message was from my friend Jamal Edwards, who had recently passed away. The second was from my ex girlfriend who I hadn't been in contact with for years. The third was a family member I haven't spoken to in a decade. And so on.' Ed shared pictures with pals including Taylor and the late Jamal Edwards, with the musician admitting looking through the phone made him emotional for a number of reasons. Ed continued: 'It felt like a time capsule, a time of life that I was in, and living at that time in 2015. Turning it on really spun me out, I found myself scrolling messages and conversations with people who are no longer here. 'I found myself crying at messages to friends who are now dead, who I won't get to speak to again. I found old photos of me with people I was so close to then, but we've lost touch since. 'The whole experience was such an emotional journey. I wrote the song Old Phone on my own at 2am whilst jet lagged in India finishing the album, and recorded it that morning. It feels like a song that should've been on my debut album, but also a song I couldn't have written until I experienced real life things happening to me.' Speaking on the meaningful new song, Ed added: 'It makes me emotional to sing, I hope it finds some emotion in you too.'
